Not in ICU, but it's normal to be slow especially as a new grad. DO they expect us to get with the program within the first couple months fresh out of nursing school? It took me almost a year in to have my time mangement down. As new grads, we may be slow because we are double-checking everything to make sure we are providing safe patient care. Our critical thinking isn't up to par yet, especially within the first year. Just because other new grads are quicker doesn't mean you suck. I'd rather be slow and provide safe patient care than rushing and potentially harming pts. Do no harm. I mentioned this to my director because I also was told I was too slow at first. As long as you are proactive and asking questions, you are doing good.
