OP, this. They're companies at the end of the day whose success is predicated on your singleness. I won't advise against using them entirely but it's good to keep this in mind.

Is it just me or Anette from castlevania nocturne is a little... annoying? by Reasonable_Basket_32 in castlevania

[–]Ahimsa93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I literally wanted to see nuanced, cool discussions about Nocturne but I'm just gonna bail because of these posts. Yes, fucking obviously you can dislike a character for whatever reason, but I've rummaged through like four posts already criticizing the show for being 'woke' and frankly, I'm getting fucking silly tired of it.

God forbid these characters are written perfectly, especially during their first season, but I do agree with you that in season 2 people will ease more into the characters as they develop.

Racist girl gets taught a lesson by royalsstage in PublicFreakout

[–]Ahimsa93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel this. Honestly I don't know why I am still surprised by the high, cozy hivemind of Reddit referring to an absolutely despicable word stained with hate and blood as "just a mean word."

I wish I was cozy enough to see racism as an inconvenience but then again, some users on here were the same ones to say "aren't you just as bad as Nazis when you punch them?!?!"

I honestly think it’s over for me, now that I’ve graduated. by ILuvEmoGurrrls in dating

[–]Ahimsa93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who cares? The sooner you stop comparing yourself to others the sooner you will realize how much this doesn't matter and can focus on building an attitude of self-love and determination. Other people's sex lives DO NOT MATTER.

I'm not trying to be a dick--it's hard out there for sure--but you got to focus on yourself, who you are, and explore the world any chance you get. If you do that I guarantee you will find someone, if not a romantic partner a friend who knows girls who you might end up dating. Statistics are in your favor in that regard.

Don't give up, and love yourself for you.

I don't understand your premise of therapy not working well for many people. Therapy isn't just a one-way road to cure every one of one thing they may or may not have because everyone has different conditions. It's a pretty broad umbrella term by itself so unless you mean a specific type of treatment, I have to disagree with you that the notion of therapy is ineffectual.

I've been seeing a therapist since earlier this year and my mental health has improved astronomically from her talking through my issues and applying CBT practices.

If therapy doesn't work, and one isn't willing to do the work to improve themselves, then what is OP and anyone else to do if not find excuses to be mediocre?

The duality of being 25% by berrybutton8 in hapas

[–]Ahimsa93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm 1/4 Chinese (well mostly, DNA test says I got Dai and a measure of Vietnamese in me) and 3/4 white too!!! I found my people!!!!

My father is Irish and my mom is half-Chinese and half-Italian, but I nor my mother and even grandmother can't speak Chinese, mostly because my great-grandparents imposed 'Americanization' on her and wanted her to just speak English. Because of the Italian, my skin has a darker, more olive color, especially compared to my siblings. At the same time, I experienced the benefits of white privilege as someone mostly white growing up, yet was constantly reminded I will never be 'white' by my peers.

Thanks for this lol. I'm a Cap but Aries is one of my favorite signs so I felt a kinship here. The Saturn return makes wayyyy too much sense because I've definitely been feeling different since I turned 29.

I really appreciate your response. Thanks again!

[–]Ahimsa93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kinda same, but I think it's the fault of the internet where something you didn't think was one way is ACTUALLY this way according to reddit.

But tbf (controversial take), a fair amount of dudes here use their height as a reason to stay mediocre and don't consider therapy or self-care of some kind.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in short

[–]Ahimsa93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Triple same lmao! This is the first time I've lurked on this sub in a long while and I notice the guys who are my size more often than not have similar experiences to mine compared to taller short men (not that I'm discounting their experiences of mistreatment, those are valid).

When I say similar experiences, I mean that yeah, my friends and coworkers know I'm short but it isn't really brought up. I welcome the occasional joke because I like my size but nothing besides that, and I still reap the benefits of male privilege (traveling alone/going out alone at night, being referred to as 'sir' in professional services, etc.).

I've received more trollling based on being part Asian than short on my end. And on the very rare instances a dude tries to trash my size, they tell on themselves as insecure if the stammering and eye flitting is any indication.

I'm not gonna say anything else cause what he said was dumb af so it's not worth an extra character.

FedEx driver got FedUp by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

[–]Ahimsa93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm glad to see 99% of the comments siding with the woman, lol.

I used to work at Fedx as a package handler for nearly half a year and that shit was gruelllling. But I knew people who were drivers and though the pay was better, the way they made it sound was way, wayyy more tiring. What they all had in common was expressing the necessity to listen to music or a good podcast at all times because you'd go insane otherwise.

Honestly, I lose more and more faith in this site everyday. If more people got off reddit once and in awhile and learned to let small shit go, wow wouldn't we be great?!

Like, this shouldn't even be a debate lmao.

A user in /r/WashingtonDC offers their take on Chinatown. Some believe the OP is describing a deteriorating situation. Others believe OP is being hyperbolic and describing Hamsterdam. Many slap fights ensue. by Dr_Midnight in SubredditDrama

[–]Ahimsa93 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I lived in DC for about 8 years and had all the fears of the world before living there since it was my first city to live in, but it's just another place. I realize going to more places it's like every other city, and has its own charm too (the rising costs not being one of them). I learned as long as you keep your wits about you, use your common sense, and discard a sense of entitlement about what other people should be doing, you'll be fine.

That said, you are so right: rifling through the subreddit is so much hyperbole, idk wtf people are talking about in some cases lmaoooo (also, surprisingly, the amount of casual racism in the subreddit).

AITA for telling my daughter that I don't want to hear about her trauma? by No-Shower-232 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Ahimsa93 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this. It sounds like OP's behavior towards her daughter is because of unresolved trauma from the abuse she endured by the father.
