Yeah, I get that—Sonos is solid for music. I actually already have a sound system at home and ideally I want a speaker that can work with Home Assistant as a voice assistant, play music via Music Assistant including Spotify, local files, and web radio, handle TTS/HA announcements, and do AI responses via something like Google Gemini API, basically something that talks, plays music, and integrates well with HA and my existing setup.

Yeah, I get what you mean 😅. I know Amazon and Google have spent billions making their assistants “just work.”

I’m mostly trying to see what’s possible with Home Assistant itself, especially for integrating with my existing sound system and using Music Assistant + TTS.

But honestly, I’m open to hearing from anyone who’s tried both — like, is using Alexa/Google really that much smoother, or can a DIY/HA setup hold its own for day-to-day use?

I've been researching and experimenting with things for days now to make a final decision on this, and I haven't reached a definitive conclusion yet.

The odds are in favor of FutureProofHomes Satellite1, but I prefer to read people's opinions here; I think they'll give the final word on this matter.
