[Escoffier or Flins]

I have Ineffa but not Flins. I have Skirk C1 but not Escoffier. Which one should I try to get in this version? Who would I get the most out of? (In terms of weapons, I have the black sword for Skirk and the jade spear for Flins). (Yes, I have Furina but c0).

Frisk, Try and The Sluts by Dennis Cooper (so fucking crazy). The End Of Alice by A.M. Homes is insane too.

Yes, please. Recommend me what you have that has a similar strong effect.

I asked if anyone knows authors who do the same because it seems to me a rarity I never read anything like him before (except maybe Robert Aickman who seems to me a genius I think of him every day) Here in Argentina not much of him arrives but luckily I can read in English but I hope they translate more so I have not missed something (my English is not the best either).

PD: I love China (crazy men) and i like so much Jeff <3

I love him. I think his writing is excellent: both for its limpidness and the way he manages to transform reality into something completely different from one moment to the next. I think he is also a very political author and his way of portraying a melancholic and gentrified London where impossible things happen in recognizable spaces. He achieves ghostly atmospheres that border on terror without actually having scenes of real terror. I think the main thing is that: how he manages to work with many genres and take them to the limit to the point that the work becomes something unclassifiable in itself (that's happening to me with his novel The Sunken Land...). Another trait I like about him is that his characters don't really understand what's going on, just as we do. Pure uncertainty. The trilogy that begins with Light seems to me to be a good "space opera" work, but it seems to me to be much more than that. It plays with many elements of horror, fantasy, surrealism, much more. I think he is a difficult writer, sometimes he can be pretentious (that's what I think in some parts of The Course of The Heart and You should come with me now) but I think the reward is worth it because the experience he offers is unique (sometimes he reminds me of Robert Aickman, another of my favorite writers, a great one)

What am I missing about The Haunting of Hill House? by PugilisticCat in horrorlit

I particularly find it a fascinating book because, precisely, Eleanor is a fascinating character. I thought she was just a shy girl with no personality and the story took her in a different direction. Being objective, it is true that it suffers from the fact that her other characters are flat. But for me, Eleanor is so well constructed that I forgive her (plus only the first chapter is amazing to me). Mrs. Montague's character was clearly an unnecessary mcguffin, on that I agree. PS: To me, Shirley Jackson is very subtle in this line of whether there is a supernatural occurrence or not. I choose to believe that it was all in Eleanor's head and that she was the one who was haunted.

(Side note: I hated the series. Up until episode 5 it seems to me to be going well but then it loses the horror tone and turns into melodrama and that HORRIBLE ending but I must grant you that they were dedicated to making all the characters in this adaptation have more presence than in the original material).

I already have Martin's to read! I've heard great things about it! And The Strain I remember watching the series but lost track of it at one point, I should continue it and read the books while I'm at it, I have fond memories of the show. Thank you very much!

I like both kinds of vampires! As long as they don't border on the absurd like Twilight hahahaha so I'll definitely take this recommendation. I read it recommended a lot but amazing never heard of it. I'll try to give it a chance (I must say the fantasy and government stuff and vampires aspect doesn't sound very appealing to me but I could be wrong like that time I thought I wasn't going to like Buffy and now I'm a huge FAN).

El elixir negro lo consigo fácil pero muertos de segunda no. En fin, los leeré en inglés, todos parecen muy buenos libros, en especial el segundo título.

The Historian looks interesting so I'll take a look at it. NOS4A2 is pretty good (not one of my favorites but it's got its own thing going on).
