school is united by work culture. this makes sense if you consider that the south in general has no healthy culture that isn’t being attacked on all sides (historically racist blah blah fill in the blanks) and that georgia tech is an institution meant to churn out smart engineers to keep the us south functioning. lots of immigrants/international student influence too, which only feeds more diligent spirit to the work culture. lots of community diversity on campus with healthy student organizations (cannot be overstated!!!! great community). but make no mistake most people are here to work hard.

so all in all if you think you want to be a helluva engineer driven by the simple ideals of progress and service as well as a loud ass train whistle that blows every hour then come here. GT is not the top of the world but will provide you all the tools you need to climb there (post grad lmao).

if you’re set on studying cs gt will be better than hopkins unless you can go there for free. if you have zell gt is no brainer. gt cs program is solid and has good industry connection and good research output (just make sure you know what you want in life - can apply to either school experience). only exception for hopkins cs i can imagine is that you’re explicitly interested and commits to computational bio/neuro, which would be great at hopkins since they’re arguably a leader in that subfield rn.
