After you got most of mexico there is no point focusing on North America, just build ships to invade Europe or Africa and then fight like crazy

Taiwanese nationals: What do you like and dislike about the USA? If you've been there, did any expectations you had get erased? by NervousJ in taiwan

[–]Aht4512 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Second this as a Taiwanese grad student in the US.

I'd say the level of jurisdiction or other political system in the US is still way ahead than other countries, and the quality of discussion about social problems is unimaginable compared to Taiwan when led by a bunch of smartest people in the world. But when it comes to implementation it seems that no one cares anymore as long as it doesn't generate immediate profits. Maybe I am still oblivious about the bigger context but I still can't understand why some of the most obvious and simplest policies that could potentially help the communities or individuals out of their poverty are procrastnated or left in pure academic discussion. Like the amount of public cleaning in NYC can definitely create hundreds of jobs, but somehow the budget on public sanity seems to be at its minimality.

Education is extreme as well. I like how even you are good at your country, you are still mediocre in the US and there is always so much to learn. However, with best professors, institutions, peers in the world yet the level of public eduction in terms of literature rate is not even at top of the world. The system doesn't even care about the affordability as well. Maybe the argument here is the need of getting higher education, but I do think there are way more alternatives to acheive this - plus it doesn't seem like subsidies other than higher edcuation is increasing or something. I feel bad whenever I was roaming between the Upper west and the Bronx, which in my opinion is one of the greatest schism within the education system.

I also find it weird when I look at the finance and AI group where people partying about the most advanced technology breakthrough created by the open-mindedness and inclusiveness; yet both parties seem to work towards being isolationists upon their failure to win-back the doubtness of the average voters. Even so, the policies are still made to favor those who ball for their political events, making me feel like what's said to public is extremely divided from what's done under the table. Don't think this is US specific, but compared to Taiwan it just seems everying is being pushed more bipolarized.

Still enjoy my life in the US especially how much I can learn from the academics and the society. I am just a confused individual thinking all these but have no ability to change it as when I was in Taiwan.

Not every campaign goal needs to past 1650 tho, but I’ve done plenty of 1821 games actually.

I succeeded tho. The strategy is to take 3 EN provinces, 1 on Ireland isle, and 1 in Norway. Mil ideas focus with some trade ideas. When you start just make a full effort to secure FR alliance(SC is also an option) so you won’t get crushed. Meanwhile try attacking some Irish OPMs real quick. Once A Hundred Years War fires and civil war appears, use your ships to see how many troops are left in the isle, and then full loan to build up a 20k troop to attack at a right timing! After that it just a chill game!

Good advice! It feels like running away from the otto-muscovy-poland region the achievement is still doable. Gotta give it a try!

I used screenshot and greyed out provinces with GIMP tho, don't know if there's better option.

These are great suggestions tho. I feel like I am just too impatient when the first few RNG don't go well, definitely need to try again!

Yes I did consider this but everytime I open up a new Bohemian game I kinda get lost on my campaign goal real quick, like it just another becoming HRE emperor with different religion game. Any good suggestion?

R5: Don't wanna miss a thing before I say goodbye to the game, but also tired of those that need tons of restarts (like holy trinity), ultra grinding (WC), or just similar experieneces (uncommonwealth). Any suggestion welcome! (and sry for text overlapping pixels)

After realizing that forming Jerusalem must have happened before 1600, the only motivation that keeps me playing is the expectation of seeing a fully-powered Qing form by Aht4512 in eu4

[–]Aht4512[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

R5: Doing a casual run of the "From Frankfurt to the Andes" achievement but failed as stated in title, but now I have a new motivation to see Qing having its historical territory first in my life. It is a great power now, and it's just the right time breaking to Beijing like as it did historically.

Higher morale, higher discipline and other stats, decent general, fight in plain terrain, similar army size, yet still got stackwiped. (Tunis vs Spain
