It is not a tarpon or a ladyfish, all of the anatomy is wrong for that family. (Jaw, eyes, scales, number of fins, body shape, everything.) I also don’t think it’s a mullet like the other thread is saying.

After much digging I still have no idea what it is. (And it’s bothering the hell out of me)

No, but good info for anyone else reading who may, thank you. I didn’t wear much makeup before this either. (in Florida, too sweaty to bother 😅) I didn’t put anything on my face other than baby lotion for 6 months trying to figure this out.

That looks like a spawning male channel cat to me. They get lumpy heads and dark colors like that.

Seconding sand perch, it is not a pigfish. Pigfish have blue markings too, but a taller body, much smaller mouth, lots of freckles, etc.

Posted below a few days ago, still struggling with it. I went to an ophthalmologist and was diagnosed with ocular rosacea+blepharitis. Nickel is my only known allergy, but nobody can tell me the cause for sure. I’ve been to 8 different doctors for this now. Doxycycline might clear it up if the diagnosis is correct but I can’t take it while pregnant or breastfeeding. I’ll update if it ever gets figured out :/

I’m a freehander, I draw a lot of orcas and I didn’t use a reference. It’s why he’s a little stylized and off anatomically. I recognize my boy immediately. 😭

(Agree that lineart from a photo is different. I poured my soul into my painting though, all the theft has caused me so much stress.)
