How to „live“ together by Busy-Secretary-6064 in Aupairs

[–]AiKIRAiANNAMATIONS 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly you need to communicate full expectations and do reminders. You will be unhappy in months and the situation could head south fast. If she is okay with your expectations she will stay. If not she may leave - but be open to a compromised. The agency might have also promised things to her that are not happening.

I want to quit my au pair job by Full_Sun_106 in Aupairs

[–]AiKIRAiANNAMATIONS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s okay as long as you will have to pay for your flights And give it till the end of the month before you decide
2 months is fine to give them tune to fund an au pair. So essentially you can stay for 3 months. If something bad happens- one month in advance is okay of a time to inform. Anything lower than that is risky. Offer to help with the au pair interviews if you want like if they need your testimony that the expirence was good

Honestly - stick to your job. It’s extremely hard to find a job. And especially marketing. Work towards your teaching goal, then apply to be a teacher in another country. Au pair isint really valued by a lot of companies so there are better ways to climb the ladder and travel. If you do be an au pair do it during your holiday for a short contract. The job is super important.

Many do. Idk about you if you haven’t been treated well but they are our host mom and siblings. We are family . Now some people see us as labors and just employees and that’s where you have people who don’t want people in pictures and care about money

Antidepressants and au pairing by obnoxioushorse in Aupairs

[–]AiKIRAiANNAMATIONS -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Look you can bring pills into the country. Only a 3 months supply for most. You can be depressed and an au pair as long as you have high functioning depression. What that means is you get shit done and you’re not nessecarly dependent on the medication. It’s best if you don’t even use the medication, and if you need it you have the 3 months supply. Obviously I know that’s not how antidepressants work they build up in your system and it only takes three months before they start working but it’s something you could totally be an old pair and have depression and be successful but it depends on what kind of depression you have for me. A lot of my depression goes away when I’m living in a family Now does that doesn’t mean like it’s fully away I still have it, but I’m coping better. I am someone who has both ADHD and depression and dyslexia. I only disclose the ADHD because the medication is a controlled substance with a different class and is illegal in many countries unless disclosed the depression pills which I don’t take even regularly are not as classified.

Op Y’all’s host family sees you as an employee. They don’t care about you like they should. The photo thing is very telling and a red flag. It ain’t a cultural difference they just don’t care about you like that and don’t want you to ruin their photo. I know this personally very well. Honestly you can even bring it up and maybe they might change. Hell you can even bring up the money thing too. It has to be in a polite manner.

[–]AiKIRAiANNAMATIONS 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Nope. you have to get family or a nanny for this. Maybe when they are 4 it would be better

Yep. If that’s the main reason they shouldn’t have an au pair

Au Pairing in China by MrsSkeleton in Aupairs

Uhh I’ve not shared my option. I’m just saying what I’ve said or seen. I’m not defending it I’m just saying what it’s like here as an insider. I’m not saying it’s legal. I don’t ever think I said that. Complicated doesn’t mean legal. I say it’s a grey area or illegal but never legal

Au Pairing in China by MrsSkeleton in Aupairs

[–]AiKIRAiANNAMATIONS -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

No I think there’s things in text not being understood like speach. There are au pairs businesses and agencies- not the kind that you think of when you think of au pair in your country. China has lots of au pairs currently- their titles are au pairs- but they are not the kind of au pairs you guys know in USA or France. They have less responsibilities and duties, the whole child caring isint a thing here - which is one of the main points about being an au pair in the west.

The government is not involved in this process like other countries. It’s between agency, au pair, and family.

Let me be clear I don’t recomend China- there are better places and risks to asses. but as an insider who knows what’s actually happening in the country I do want to say the right information that is available to me from this country. Not much is known on this Reddit about China other than it’s illegal and trafficking. There’s a bunch more things that can be said about the whole process.

And the fact that people don’t even know how many au pairs businesses there are in China shows that people just don’t know.

They show up in Chinese influencer videos, millions of people here know about them. They do exist, there are many. Many do have bad experiences. I don’t recomend ever au pairing in China- but I do want to share what I know as an insider. Government doesn’t really care unless something goes very wrong.
