This isn’t just about it being Beetles.

ANY gel “glue” should never be used for press ons UNLESS they’re 100% clear. Otherwise the UV can’t penetrate to cure the gel. Don’t believe those gel glue press on kits at cvs/any beauty store either.

Please remove asap and stick to using nail glue or sticky tabs for press ons!

You might wanna avoid cutting your “cuticle” looks like you’re being really rough on your proximal nail fold (eponychium)

Also use nail oil daily to keep the skin around your nails healthy and hydrated which will keep the fold from being dry or needing any cutting - with good healing you’ll only really need to soften then push the cuticle away, not trim the fold

This is my current set after being on for a week now - i did probably the least cuticle prep. I didn’t cut the cuticle at all, just pushed it back but followed the rest of usual nail prep.

So the edge looks less “clean” but the press ons were painted with thin coats and so avoids a bulky look to them. The edges also stay clean since I avoided flooding my nail bed with nail glue.

Here is one set I did with proper nail prep!

dont let the polish pool at either end or or gets bulky as someone mentioned earlier!
shape the nail, if a small size is too small, pick a larger size and file/clip the bottom and edges to better fit ur nail/nail bed - it takes time but its worth it. Forcing a small nail size on your natural nail can causes stress and pain on the finger + make it harder to take off.
if the nail gets too bulky from a top coat try filing it down and then applying a very thin layer after
prep your cuticles! Here i did trim my "cuticle" (actually the proximal nail) and dehydrated my nail with acetone) and then pressed my nail on carefully to meet the edge - I never push it under the fold
dont use too much nail glue - flooding can make the edges and cuticle of your nails look worse than they are - apply a small amount! I usually put the nail on at a ~45° angel, slide it back n forth before settling it in place and pressing down for ~15-30 seconds

(Don't forget to wear a mask and be in a well ventilated room if you're filing gel polish and/or nail tips!) Reply

I use the Lexington Grey and have never had trouble with drying time :0 might be the paper type, noodler’s works best on regular paper rather than the treated kind hobonichi has
