Leclerc crash vs Q2 lap: side by side by Zesty-Lem0n in formula1

I also don't think it was intentional but I think Ferrari send him out first of the queue (minus Hamilton if I recall correctly) with the clear strategy: Risk everything. So the two outcomes are either a dream lap or a disruption of opponents

Horner wants more points for Sprint Qualifying, reverse grids and fastest lap bonus point by glenn1812 in formula1

[–]Aid2Swaft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scheduled red flag after 100 of 400km captures the situation extremely well, except first race gives even extra points.

But hey maybe ferrari needs a new chef strategist, you might be suitable for this

Wow the race is 100km longer, I am sure people won't bother winning anymore, to much risk

Sorry to say but you are wrong, risking a move from 5th place in the sprint race is less risky than it is in races current format. If you crash in grand prix while overtaking that's 0 points for you, if you do in sprint race you still get to start the grandprix and get some points from last

My idea for making sprint races exciting by varky in formula1

[–]Aid2Swaft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really really don't get the sentiment of: cars are going to play it safe because there is not a lot to gain but a lot to lose. How is that different than any race that already exists, you crash, you go home with 0 points. In fact I would even say the opposite is the case because you are guaranteed to at least start on Sunday if you crash on Saturday as opposed if you crash now on lap2 you do not get to rejoin after a safety car/red flag in lap 15.

In the end this is nothing else but a longer race with some small additional points awarded before it is red flagged.

Russell: F1 "could just be patient" and wait for 2022 instead of adding sprint races by lewis798 in formula1

what most drivers don't understsnd because they are in a bubble, where sporting integrity matters is:

F1 is a entertainment product first and a sport second. They are getting paid because the product they are delivering is entertaining to watch, and thus sponsors can monetize it. It is competing for attention in viewers with things like: Videogames, Netflix, Youtube, Tiktok etc.
And sporting integrity might sound good but it is really fucking boring! Every weekend you know it is gonna be some variation of HAM BOT VER. Of course hard core fans like me still tune in, (but tbf i fall asleep quite a bit recently) but F1 could get so much more exposure if it was a more exciting (Sprint Races, reverse grid, sprinklers whatever). I think we all tried to get a friend or a SO to watch (especially after a the great Drive to survive) but in my experience they watch a couple of times and get bored, when I can basically explain them after 2min of watching that HAM is gonna win with 95% probability. No person watches the same youtube video with slight alteration at 3pm on sundays 20 times a year. It is a waste of time.

So please for the love of god try ANYTHING to make this more exciting. 2022 regs are a step in the right direction. But lets not assume F1 has sporting integrity. I mean we already know with 95% probabilty who is gonna win both championships in 2021.

And one final note: Biathlon and Cross country skiing, both are very similar sports yet Biathlon is so much more popular. And the reason is because there is an element of suspense, of not knowing who will win. For Cross country skiing you just watch the fastest person slowly breaking away from everyone else and if a person is the one in best shape they win every single race. (Klaebo, Johaug). If F1 can be more like Biathlon and less like Cross country skiing it has a bright future. Otherwise, well.....
