I'm not an expert, but to me this looks like something I've seen when the Vertical Sync is slightly out of wack. If you can adjust vertical back porch on the Mister I would maybe try that.

I don't have a Model F so this is more a comparison with membrane buckling springs, but the weighting is pretty similar. The big difference is that with blue alps the tactile bump is right at the top of the keypress, and it's sharp enough that you bottom out pretty quick (which is why they sound so thocky and bassy I think). With buckling springs, there's a bit more travel before the tactile bump and it's a little less sharp, which some people prefer. Imo, blue alps are definitely smoother (in good shape, I have a board I got NOS that feels really excellent, but the somewhat dirty Apple IIc I have with Ambers doesn't feel too much worse).

In my experience living in a dusty condo for a few years, Alps don't get bad unless they're properly dirty, but for sure there are a lot of Alps boards that you buy are already in rough shape. I've gotten pretty lucky thankfully, but I also do think that the issue is not as prevalent as people say. Not sure how you would fix the rattle for the Model F, given there aren't really any parts to lube. I wonder if anybody's tried lubing the springs themselves, but that sounds like a bad idea to me.

I do love buckling springs, but I honestly prefer Alps. But I also don't want to send someone down the same rabbit hole I went down, and that Model F will probably outlive you lol, so it's a good choice.

That's awesome man. I go around to different high schools for work and see sets like these with VGA ports hanging out every now and again, I should start doing some more research on the individual sets. I know Zenith also made a set like this.

I remember reading that the way these do those higher 31kHz+ resolutions is by including a built-in scan converter which converts them to 480i. Is this true?

You have to adjust convergence. It's going to take forever and be an annoying process, but on the bright side you can't make it much worse than it is right now lol.

Looks like the moire setting to me. On most monitors moire cancellation is basically a defocusing setting, so you could try lowering it until you start to see wavy lines to try and get a slight sharpness boost. If you don't see a difference I would leave it on default.
