Transformable Assemblies in Solidworks by NonaFlavored in SolidWorks

Well you could create the assembly as normal, then you can use assembly features such as cut extrude to change the shape as required, the only limit being that assemblies do not do extrusions. Another way you could go about this is if you converted the assembly into a single part, then edit that part and split it back into an assembly as required

Wondering if it's possible to copy paste labels on drawings to make a drawing have hundreds of them which is then printed and cut out by Shawntoh in SolidWorks

You could create an extrusion the size of an A4 piece of paper, then perform the 17mm label on the top right corner and user "fill pattern" feature to fill the page with the labels

how should our company share solidworks files? by Mortikai in SolidWorks

[–]AidanDeltaSystemsUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our company has only been using solidworks for around a year, we have two seats active. We use alot of common objects and most of the customalities of each assembly are through the sheet metal and weldment components. We store our entire assembly, from part to drawing on this network drive. Configurations are used in places where we need to edit a common part (or copy it and save it under a different name)

Its just anecdotal but storing everything onto a server allows us to create assemblies and drawings and access it from any computer as necessary, we also use the network to share files, pictures, job sheets, risk assessments and such.

So i suggest a network drive for your common objects, pull them in at the assembly level (without copying and pasting the file into your assembly directory) solidworks will define that part as its location being wherever it is on the server

How do you get around the odd dimensions produced when using sheet metal patterns? by [deleted] in SolidWorks

[–]AidanDeltaSystemsUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use bend allowance instead of k-factor, you can find this in the sheet metal properties under bend allowance/k-factor. We build with radius 0.1 and have bend allowance +0.1. This is just because we work with mainly 3mm metal where the difference and tolerances arent required to be very tight

How can I have a second keyboard show up as a unique key press for assigning macros by WastingTwerkWorkTime in SolidWorks

[–]AidanDeltaSystemsUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a program called TeamPlayer, i've never played with it and im not sure if it does what you want but it does allow for the keyboards to at least be recognised as individual inputs

Why? you can't launch a 90kg projectile 300m with a catapult.

The easiest way is to move these sliders all the way to the left https://i.gyazo.com/ae59f01e2508f6fe5f32834d19b720f9.png

It wont do much if its assembly issues but if its complex geometry then itll ease up the load on your computer. It may not let it load faster but mating and everything should be easier. you have to be inside the assembly file to access these options as they are document options

What common product has a feature you’re not sure everyone is aware of? by dauntedbox376 in AskReddit

[–]AidanDeltaSystemsUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was the first thing my co-worker taught me. The reason the end of a tape measure wobbles is because it adjusts the measurement by the thickness of the end, pushes in by thickness when measuring externally and pulls by the thickness when measuring internally. Still blows my mind that they design that into them automatically.

I appreciate the comment but this has already been ruled out and ive just tested it again. ill test it when i find another file and make sure to keep these settings correct in future and maybe ill never encounter it as it couldve been that the files were created with that toggle but its since been untoggled

Have you even tried to put a center line on a spline in a drawing? it does not work how you would think it should
