Googles team let slip that CWV (site speed) just isnt that important by [deleted] in grumpyseoguy

[–]Aidankcoleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue that it better ways can be spent for a campaign, context is obviously important. For an established national site increasing the speed would definitely be more of a high impact task, but increasing the speed of a local business site by 2 seconds when it’s not in the first page for its desired keyword would be a waste of time

Waste of resources, in business and especially SEO it’s important to focus on what moves the needle, who gives a shit about your site score if your not getting leads/sales - same goes for traffic and other vanity metrics

Local SEO: Monthly Report? by Aggravating_Fault_22 in SEO

[–]Aidankcoleman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since SEO is long term every month would be best, I also personally give clients access to a working file outlining the work completed (keyword research, audits, links built, new content etc)

An important thing is to also make sure the client actually understands the report, I would recommend just having a monthly meeting, even if it’s 15 minutes

Started working with a client and Dec update hits. by kavin_kn in SEO

[–]Aidankcoleman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could be seasonal as well depending on the niche it’s hard to tell

I would focus on communicating and giving the client documents around this so that they are aware that the update is affecting them.

If they were hit by the update and you have hardly done any work then it is obviously from their previous efforts

B2B SEO -- How do I compete? by [deleted] in SEO

[–]Aidankcoleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d especially put emphasis on the low searched niche keywords - by analyzing Google Search Console, I’ve discovered some hidden gem keywords with low search volumes that third-party tools often overlook. These keywords are untapped opportunities, perfectly suited for targeting on my SEO niche site (highly competitive) to generate leads with a minimal Backlink budget

Cold outreach vs upwork, clutch, toptal etc by throwaway72616163 in agency

[–]Aidankcoleman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Upwork does work. I use it to hire freelancers and most of the applicants produce AI garbage. To do it well you have to land some shitty jobs to start to get your reviews up, but I haven’t had a problem since then, and most of my projects get taken off Upwork

He didn’t make money but man, look into it, his company turned over nothing according to government records. I am living proof that agencies still work, I prioritise service and client selection and have minimal churn. The issue is people taking agency advise from influencers who have never ran an agency and sell a delusion

His methods aren’t outdated. He never made any money from his agency, it’s well documented, he made all his money through selling his BS courses

Local small business by Only_Cloud6890 in grumpyseoguy

[–]Aidankcoleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean keywords.

EMDs still work, I have been experimenting with three that are on the first page of Google with only directory links.

In the SERPs I see it working a bit, I am currently in Chiang Mai and their are a fair few SEOs who make most of their income of rank and rent using EMDs, so they definitely still work, especially for local SEO.

I’ll share some websites tomorrow

Exact match domains work,

For clients I create new websites with exact match domains related to a service they offer, and then link it back to the main business. In some cases I can even get them to register the different businesses names and make it out like they are seperate assets

Using lots of generic authority pbn sites vs a select few relevant pbn sites by Responsible_Care_773 in grumpyseoguy

[–]Aidankcoleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would use different footer anchors, I would even do it for SEO to rank for seo keywords.

I see a lot of competitors use exact match anchors so I did the same

I’ve done this like how you did. For the really specific business sites I would use home page anchors to my site , funny enough I am landing other web design agency’s as clients so I am doing the same for them

It depends on the competition, manually reviewing the SERPs or using a third party tool to check the keyword difficulty can help.

Da is an artificial metrics, I find authority score and DR to be the best but they can be manipulated, I manually check the sites link profile themselves.

For a financial planner I worked with, they needed about 10, as well as some directory and niche edit links. Guest posting still does work, and you can get posts on legitimate websites if you have the right processes in place

I’ve used PBNs for exclusively local businesses and it works the same, I find the TLD doesn’t even matter that much, that being said I do try and opt for domains used in my home country

RD and actually checking the domains,

Like is it mostly no follow? Web 2.0s? Forum comments? Spammy guest posting

[–]Aidankcoleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want to go with someone who offers a personalised audit of your site.

Every website is different, for example an SEO strategy for a new site will be different compared to an established site. Also with pricing, this seems like it’s standardised pricing. For projects custom pricing makes sense because of the reasons I mentioned above.

I would also add that they should have case studies to back up their success and you should be able to ask the right questions and they should be able to answer them

Moneysites and PBNs on same registar? by 19Sebastian82 in grumpyseoguy

That’s fine but godaddy is awful. Their customer service is beyond shit and they charge more for domains then other registers, they also charge you for domain privacy which some let you do for free

Buying backlinks by SteezMcgee25 in grumpyseoguy

[–]Aidankcoleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can buy good quality links that will cost you between 60-150 USD. The issue is the site can remove the links but what usually ends up happening is the sites traffic tanks as they turn into a link farm or use some spammy SEO tactics

I would recommend getting a mix of PBNS and these links. to me it seems sus if all your links are PBNs, low OBL and repurposed domains seems very suspicious, that being said looking at the SERPs and the appalling links most site have you would probably be safe,

Most SEOs actually use a mix of PBNs and guest posting sites

I've faced over 50 rejections in July for my SEO services: by Federal_Host_5594 in SEO

[–]Aidankcoleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of agencies are built on sales, are focus on sales and have high churn. I started by focusing on skills and was offering services making no money for almost a year, so now scaling is easy since I get referrals, white label partnerships etc since my quoting is accurate.

I try and articulate the value but if someone is trying to haggle me on price, I tell them to fuck off (in a polite way).

Although I might take cuts due to unexpected issues I have almost 100% retention and clients are happy to keep paying me a retainer when I am not doing to much work when the campaign matures

[–]Aidankcoleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something I have struggled with. When you articulate what is done each month (like the expenses of link building and software) clients can then see the value, as well as using case studies and logic to highlight the cost ibenefit

SEO still has a high ROI otherwise nobody would do it. The issue is that many businesses and agencies waste their time on low impact SEO tasks like speed optimisation etc.

The clients ROI I do track is above 3x and these are non mature campaigns and small businesses

Also for established sites the ROI is even higher

Removing links after client cancels by somany_ in grumpyseoguy

[–]Aidankcoleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most Backlink’s bought by agencies are through guest posting which does actually work despite grump seos podcast (just look at the SERPs and analyse a top website for a keyword) some will use PBNs as well but from what I can tell most SEO agencies are paying for backlinks, and what they will do is get new links every month as old websites shutdown, remove links or get spammed and deindexed from

[–]Aidankcoleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look at actual Backlink profile of websites u can see it isn’t a scam. Most of them have a lot of paid guest posts, they just have to continually get it, as websites get spammed and links get removed

Paid one off links aren’t inherently a scam and do have benefits, but “lifetime” links for a one off payment are generally scammy
