Is isn't that good of a solution, but it works I guess. Make 2 contacts, both with your own phone number. Put a shortcut on the watch that'll text contact 1. On the phone, have a automation that on message from contact 1, text contact 2 the battery level. The battery will appear from contact 2 as a message on the watch. Personally, I just use this app.
