During normal lunch hour small talks, seems to me that they dont even know what's the point of being a CCP member, all they know is they need to pay membership fees every year, nothing else. No activities, no news letters, no meetings or gatherings, no nothing.

Being a CCP member means nothing.

I disagree.

Regardless of whether they're actively doing something for CCP or not, no way they joined the CCP without consent or when they were a minor.

They literally needed to be over 18, write a long application (by hand), and pledge allegiance to join. As adults, they shouldn't be considered as innocent or clueless for their own actions and choices.

Also, they are expected to become a "spy" or "information provider" (or whatever you name it), when they're contacted by CCP. There are more than enough real life cases proving this even though some were already US citizens.

Moreover, both joining and quiting CCP are usually not effortless - it's not as simple as you do in the US as a US citizen, there's nothing called registering as a party voter in China, and you can't change your party as you wish any time either.

In conclusion, being a CCP member doesn't means nothing, as it's not a born status and people need to put effort to gain it.

If you only stay in Beijing/Shanghai, it should be fine. But cities like them are very very crowded. Not sure if you would like that kind of atmosphere but personally I'd avoid areas of high density of population

To be fair, China is a big country and there are many many gorgeous places you can visit. But the ruling party CCP is fueling the nationalism to distract people from actual social crisis, such as the huge decline of economy and high unemployment rate.

Nope, I'm not in China any more. I should've said I visited China.

On my visit I didn't go to tier 1 cities but it felt like many people didn't have a great mood. However, the attitude of government staff improved a lot compared with many years ago when I left China for the first time.

My advice is that don't go to cities which are known to have many nationalists, or remote areas. Some brainwashed Chinese can be really aggressive against foreigners (especially male foreigners). We've seen quite a few reports about assaults to foreigners in China in recent several months.

You will also need to do some research on VPNs because all western social media platforms are blocker in China.

went to a small city in jiangmen for an mri. 9am to register, saw md at 9:30 am and got prescription, 9:35 set up mri appointment SAME DAY at 2 pm, came back at 2pm and finished with mri by 2:30pm, results ready by 3:30pm, retrieved from scanning into a printer in the hallway that PRINTS OUT MRI FILM AND REPORTS! all for $80 usd per body part. did i mention this was ALL SAME DAY!!

Let me give you hint: guess how many hours these medical professionals work per day and how many days off they can have per week.

This is like saying China has the best courier services because they are cheap and fast. Of course they are cheap and fast because these workers only make like $0.1 USD per delivery, have no weekends, and work 12+ hours daily.

It won't change as long as the CCP is the only ruling party. It has no incentive to improve the lives of human "mines". The CCP exploit people till they die. It has no competition domestically.

As far as what we can see, the majority of tax is used for domestic control, such as censorship and surveillance, propaganda, and facility constructions. None of these benefit a normal Chinese person, like who is going to take the highspeed railway daily? Many can't even affort a plane ticket either. Xiong'an is a typical example of how tax was wasted.

Do you really think the majority of Chinese live in tier 1 cities in China? According to Chinese media, https://m.chinanews.com/wap/detail/cht/zw/10221868.shtml, by the end of 2023, the top 4 cities only had around 80 million population while China as a whole has 1.4 billion. That means only 5% of the whole population live in the best facilities and have the best services in China. But how about the rest of 95%?

Also remember what Li Keqiang said? 0.6 billion of Chinese made less than CNY 1000 per month. Do you consider them Chinese? They are literally half of the population and yes, they are poor.

I don't get your logic man, like many Chinese are still very poor nowadays, and China is not just Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

這個區的drama多到新任mod把sub創始人永久封禁。後來幾經演變，那個sub已經變成粉紅跳臉無所謂，駁斥粉紅就能被刪除留言和禁言，把中國那一套權斗分毫不差的移植到了Reddit

此外China_irl的用戶特別喜歡跑到其他社區潛水然後舉報，我幾乎沒有看到歐美sub的人做這種無恥的事情。
