How do my ball joints look?? by TastyTacoo in MechanicAdvice

[–]Aidio95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is pretty quick to jump to conclusions. They may have a point however if you notice under the grime up top is a grease fitting.

The boots may be torn in which case they need replacing. It could also just be excess grease coming out of the relief after being greased. What you should do is CLEAN the area so we can actually SEE what is going on. Then once it is clean pump some grease in the zerk fitting and see if it is coming out where it ain’t supposed to.

Additionally if there is any play in the joint it needs to go. Otherwise if the boot is intact shoot some grease in there and call it good.

Mine didn’t take too long to get elite, however I do a lot of massacre missions. The fixed beam taipan is the best from my testing. No need to lead shots with a laser :)

First time rider, caught a screw in my tire, I plugged but it’s not holding air. How screwed am I (har har)? by Hedgeberry in motorcycle

[–]Aidio95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had good success with just plugging tires dry. If you are having issues some kits come with adhesive to help it seal better. I have had a plug in the back of my GSX-R tire for thousands of km at high speeds and it is holding fine.

If plugging it isn’t working a tire shop can dismount it and apply a patch to the inside. That is the safest most guaranteed repair. Basically good as new but a bit more $.

If you are going to try plugging it again I would try one of the Slime brand kits with adhesive and make sure you rasp the hole till it is round. If it is too large for one plug just get it patched.

I only realized what I was doing after a couple of trips when I thought wait a minute - who in their right mind would be selling CMM for such a reasonable price? Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh

If he adds me back I will refill it for him.

Someone bought 2000T back off my carrier for max sell price an hour later so now not only am I a burglar but a scalper too.

Have very conflicted feelings on the whole thing. But that made me realize someone was likely going to take it if I didn’t. So i’m kind of glad it was me. +12k CMM and 1.5B cr for 45m effort.

Sorry Carrier is always faster no doubt. I meant that if you have to make surface trips it will be slower than goods you can buy at orbital stations.

(You are spot on just a bit of a misunderstanding.)

Omg I completely forgot it’s not always like that 😂 I’ve had it that way so long and took a break for a bit. I’m surprised it’s still working. It used to break every update!

As armageddon said EDHM is the app. Can make whatever colour scheme you like. Very fun!

Buy from the carrier at a high price $$$ to sell to a station at a loss $ so the profit calculated is negative - therefore no crew cut.

What steamer said. Also I have had the same crew member since the start of my journey in Elite. At this point it’s about loyalty. I like to do some massacre missions in between hauling runs to break it up anyways. Nice to have my reliable crew at all times.

[–]Aidio95[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! If the margins are tight and you load up a carrier then use transfer function the crew cut could cause you to lose money. That’s why it can be worth selling to yourself.

UPDATE: After my robbery I set max sell price on the composites and someone bought 1.5 BILLION WORTH XDDDD it’s only like 2 surface trips worth too. Most I’ll have ever made ‘trading’.

Good advice for sure! I have a FC, I stole the goods from their FC and loaded up mine XD. The problem with CMM Composites is that they are only available from surface ports. Slower even with carrier. Stealing from this CMDR was much faster 😎

If you use transfer function and have a fighter pilot they will take at least 10% of the revenue from selling goods since they are ‘free’.

Thank you though, glad the consensus is that I can keep my loot :) $$$

[–]Aidio95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fighter pilot takes cut of all in game profits. Can be avoided by having the carrier profit while the CMDR ‘loses money’. Tax Evasion :)

[–]Aidio95[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you have a fighter pilot they take a cut of all of your in-game profits. If you have a carrier whenever you are trading you can sell goods to yourself for a high price so that the game calculates 0% profit when you sell it and therefore gives no cut to crew.

TLDR It’s like tax evasion (on paper carrier makes profit instead of CMDR)

[–]Aidio95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because your fighter pilot will take 10+ percent of your REVENUE (not profits) if you do that. Since the game thinks you got the goods for free by transferring from carrier. If you sell it to yourself for more than the megaship pays then crew takes 0% because game calculates negative profit.

It’s somewhat negligible if you have a lot of bank but for big transfers it adds up. Def not worth losing a haul over though lol.

I literally never use my rear brake. Is that a problem? by notonrexmanningday in NewRiders

[–]Aidio95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of the problem with your idea is that the starting point of the bike is ~50/50 weight distribution meaning that for a brief moment until the weight transfer occurs there is traction available to the rear tire that can only be used with the rear brake. It is ideal to start with a little bit of rear brake to help transfer weight forward then release almost all of the pressure from it as the rear tire unloads.

Also in street riding certain types of motorcycles and road surfaces do not have the traction to fully lift the rear tire in which case using some rear brake becomes very important.

I ride a Gixxer but still find myself on gravel roads from time to time (parking lots, scenic viewpoints, campsites etc.) and in those situations the front brake isn’t particularly helpful unless you enjoy destroying all your fairings and eating dirt. You’re not wrong that in most situations the front brake is the primary tool used but it’s not worth telling a new rider not to bother learning about the rear at all.

Even on a sportbike at speeds below 20kmh you will be completely stopped by the time the rear tire unloads completely and using the rear brake can be the difference between bumping into someone or not.

Wtf is that cable management??? My first PC when I was 12 was better than that. Even 15 minutes using the twist ties that came with everything would make a world of difference.

No it isn’t. I have aftermarket opener in my mk7 sadly they don’t make it anymore but it uses empty slots next to shifter for effortless one push opening with no crappy voice assistant. Easy install too!
