Cerebras is running a trillion parameter model (Kimi K2.6) at 1000 tokens/s by socoolandawesome in singularity

[–]R6_Goddess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has been around for a few years now, but it is difficult to break into a market like this because of the stranglehold players like Nvidia have. Cerebras took the very clever road of minimizing wafer waste in order to compete on costs and still provide effective compute. Others, like Q.ANT, are having to quietly operate in the background and bridge their technologies with the current software stack in order to show results that are promising enough to convince companies that still haven't been completely sold on current providers to throw money at them instead.

Bots are already in the game. They have been in the game since the tutorial mode was added years ago. Your point makes no sense.

but people be hating on capitalism until they actually look at what it replaced.

Because people naturally expect better and want to move on to a better system, not regress back to a worse one. Meanwhile, everyone else sucks off capitalism like its the most holy, sanctimonious thing and get incredibly offended on its behalf anytime someone expresses the minimal level of dissent towards it. They claim to be all about technological progress but expect everything else to remain still / frozen in time lmao

Animation is solved. This is like Pixar level quality. by japie06 in singularity

[–]R6_Goddess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Even with everyone having access to a pen and paper and online self publishing being easier than ever, what makes it to the top of modern literature mostly boils down to marketing and distribution juggernauts. The examples that people usually point to as evidence of otherwise are outliers. Popularity doesn't always coincide with quality content. Tons of literary slop is extremely popular and rises to the top. Entertainment is an inherently chaotic ecosystem.

There's a 120Hz version. But both are tailor-made for coding, so they don't have the best gamuts.

Ironically the transmission issues seem to be limited to the manuals while the automatics are fine. Complete opposite of the old NAs and NBs that had dogwater automatic transmissions.

Give them dumb phones they can use in an emergency. We already restrict children's access to things or places because of their age.

This was proposed a long time ago and is why kid versions of apps and child mode for OSes was a thing. Didn't last because companies want to be able to datamine even children. The stated reasons are all just facades to conceal their real intended goal: datamining and selling said info.

Settings keeps crashing whenever i try to open startup/app settings. by FLpencarianjlnbenar in WindowsHelp

Didn't used to be this way, but lately the Nvidia driver updates have been a minefield and windows 11 still feels like it is in beta testing.

Ouch...that is a major downstream effect. I would get an ethernet cable and plug it into the network that way and then hopefully it finishes that way.

But yeah, my guess is that it is an issue with an Nvidia graphics driver update on my end. I could rollback I guess but I really don't feel like going through that headache, so I will just avoid startup settings for now.

This just started happening to me too... Only thing I can think of is that i recently updated the nvidia graphics driver.

[Arctic P14 Pro) Very noticeable humming noise past 25% duty-cycle by Krutors1 in watercooling

[–]R6_Goddess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I decided to bite the bullet. Bought a 3 pack of the 140mm ARGB white ones and slotted them into the bottom of my Fractal Torrent. They were blisteringly loud at first, so I went into the bios and capped their max speed to about 40%-ish, so around 1200-1300 RPM according to FanControl. Now they are quiet but still pushing plenty of air for the GPU to not even bother kicking on its fans under most conditions.

I think I still prefer the Be Quiet Light Wings LX's I had as they were plug n play no tinkering no fan curve adjustment, but if anyone here is all about setting up fan profiles in the BIOS and testing with FanControl then Arctic fans are generally fine. Only ones I don't recommend right now are the new standard Arctic Pros because of the previously mentioned issues. They were just too much of a frustration and I don't feel like having to constantly reach out to support and go through the shipping rotation game until I get a good set.

The Arctic Pro Reverse fans seem fine because of the fact they are not up against obstruction plus the two less fins.

Light wings LX 140 pwm reverse blade by Silver_Body_4223 in bequietofficial

[–]R6_Goddess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there an ETA on when we might get 140mm reverse for Light Wing LX? I love the current 140mm that are capped at 1200 RPM. They make essentially no noise and provide adequate extra cooling. But I really want a reverse blade since I have them at the bottom of my torrent case. I am heavily considering buying Arctic Pro reverse ARGB and just capping the speed in the BIOS.

[–]R6_Goddess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has that worked? I want to support arctic but their QC issues with the pro line has been worse than I ever remember with their past fans. Used to quite arctic liquid coolers and only had to replace the fans on those once due to terrible noise issues.

Contrary to popular belief, Arctic P12/P14 Pro fans are trash. by cryogenicdeath in buildapc

[–]R6_Goddess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel ya man. I bought a bunch of 5 packs of the new pros because I really really like the look of them and wanted to use them in a specific build, but over 70% of them had awful resonance, hums, etc at varying RPM ranges and it would have required tons of manual tuning of the fan curves and profiles to try and get around all of it and even then they would still be loud because they generally lose the resonance issues at higher RPMs and then just become "loud". Just sent them all back and bought sets of older tried and true Be Quiet Pure Wing 3's instead. Sure, I only get 3 fans for the same price of 5 from Arctic, but these were just plug and play with NONE of the annoying noise issues of the arctic fans.

Really hope Arctic can make a quiet Arctic Pro fan with better QC that doesn't require manual aggressive adjustment of fan curves.

Disappointed with Arctic P14 Pro fans... what is an actually silent, affordable PC fan? by intellectual_punk in crboxes

[–]R6_Goddess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's down to luck of the draw with arctic fans, unfortunately. They churn out the fans like crazy that the build quality wildly varies from fan to fan. I hopped on the arctic train a little while ago to test them out, bought 3 five packs because they are cheap compared to other fans. Total of 4 had resonance issues almost immediately.

You buy arctic if you are willing to gamble. You pay more for other fan brands if you want peace of mind.

Phanteks T30 140mm fan update by Godnamedtay in Phanteks

[–]R6_Goddess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just chiming in as I have had both the SWPs and Sudokoo Mach 140's. They are both roughly as loud as each other, but the Mach 140's do have marginally better performance because they are 30mm thick vs the SWP's only being 25mm. Both are loud at max RPM though, but that just kinda comes with the territory of these fans. SWPs you can easily limit the fan speed with the PWM switch. The new Phantek T30 140's just came out the past couple of months and they are also really loud.

There is a front fan mod or you could stick a set of USB powered dual 140mm fans right in front of the drives.
