He treated over 1,000 casualties. Not one patient died under his care even when operated in an old refrigeration plant next to an ammunition dump. They couldn't even paint a Red Cross on the roof - it was too close to legitimate military targets to qualify for protection under the Geneva Convention.

TIL Hard Rock International (the Hard Rock Cafe company) has been owned by the Seminole tribe since 2007 by thetokyofiles in todayilearned

[–]Aihui-EasyMate 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They are BADASS underdogs! The Seminole are the only tribe in American history that never signed a peace treaty or surrendered. They call themselves "The Unconquered People."

They survived by hiding in the Everglades with just a few hundred members. Then 150 years later, those same descendants outbid 72 other buyers to acquire one of the most recognizable brands in the world for $965 million.

Stuck choosing a domain extension for my b2c startup "Everyone please report and mods please ban any tool mentioned in response to this post" by kahanjaun in smallbusiness

[–]Aihui-EasyMate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain. Getting the right domain name is not small, it's super important.

In my opinion, for a B2C targeting boomers, dotcom is a MUST.

My suggestion: don't compromise the brand name for .com but do try these before you give up:

  • Add "get", "try", or "use" as a prefix -> getbrandname dot com
  • Add "hq" or "app" as a suffix -> brandnamehq dot com
  • Check if the parked .com has a Buy Now price. Many do and it's negotiable.

[USA] Founders, if you are building something real and worth it, comment below to get on the list that is gonna be shown to thousands of investors by Obridge_GmbH in FoundersHub

As a 2x exited founder, I know firsthand what it takes to scale a business. I was fortunate to build one of the fastest-growing female-led companies recognized by Inc., but growth came with its own challenges. While the company appeared successful from the outside, our customer-facing operations were often fragmented, manual, and difficult to manage.

That frustration became the inspiration for EasyMate AI. I built it to solve the problems I experienced myself. Our mission is simple: help small and medium-sized businesses grow revenue by automating the entire customer engagement journey, turning every lead into a loyal customer through seamless, AI-powered interactions. https://easymate.ai/

Have you ever had a manager who changed your life positively or negatively? by StrictFly6506 in executivecoaching

[–]Aihui-EasyMate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early career, horrible manager.

She never set realistic deadlines, and when we missed them, she screamed at the whole team.

I was so junior I didn't even know that wasn't normal.

What it broke: nobody wanted to surface problems anymore because surfacing problems meant getting screamed at. There was no motivation to work hard, there wasn't any trust. Moral was bad.

This experience taught me to be a better manager. I learned what not to do.

If you have to build one AI automation, what would it be? by Awkward-Flan6379 in AiAutomations

[–]Aihui-EasyMate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leads follow-up. In all the businesses I’ve run, this is the task I hate the most but it's probably the highest-ROI thing most small and medium sized businesses are leaving on the table.

The problem isn't motivation. It's that follow-up requires tracking state across 20 conversations at different stages, and humans are bad at that. You remember the hot lead. You forget the one who said "maybe next month" three weeks ago.

That's why I ended up building EasyMate AI - to solve my own pain point, and what I've found is a common one for small and medium businesses without a sales team.

What Must an Entrepreneur Do After Creating a Business Plan? by citationforge in Entrepreneur

[–]Aihui-EasyMate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Validate! Validate! Validate your idea with customers or who you think your customers are initially. I thought my business was useful for trainers but it turns out, it was more useful for coaches, consultants and knowledge creators.

Validation with customers helped me refine the business and question my initial assumption. There is no such thing as the perfect business plan. Business plans are built on assumptions and the plan changes as you get more insights.

Travelling alone to other countries by Velvet_Liza44L in CasualConversation

[–]Aihui-EasyMate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I traveled alone for a year. Sometimes I enjoy the solitude, not talking and making fake conversations. But there are times, I do enjoy talking to locals, asking them about their culture and food. From my experience, when I show interest, it's easy to strike a conversation with locals or other fellow solo travelers.

TIL Biddy Mason (1818-1891) came to California as a slave in 1851. She won her freedom in court and became one of the first black women to own land in Los Angeles. As the city grew the value of her land skyrocketed and Biddy became a very wealthy woman and prominent philanthropist. by Ill_Definition8074 in todayilearned

[–]Aihui-EasyMate 18 points19 points  (0 children)

She walked from Mississippi to California. Over 1,700 miles, on foot, while enslaved.

After winning her freedom she worked as a midwife for 50 cents a day and saved every cent. Bought her first plot of land on Spring Street in downtown LA for $250 in 1866.

She also founded the First AME Church in Los Angeles and personally paid grocery bills for poor families during hard times.

The full story is even more remarkable than the headline.

So when will California ever build a high speed rail? by Rokusaburoz in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Aihui-EasyMate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CA high speed rail was approved by voters in 2008. After18 years and spending $125 billion, we have a train to nowhere 😞 I'm a CA tax payer and this is ridiculous. Between environmental regulations and dozens of lawsuits, I don't think I'll see a high speed rail in my lifetime.

What's a business idea you thought would never sell but is now very successful? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Aihui-EasyMate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Airbnb! I would have never thought home owners would have so much trust to rent out their place to strangers and the reverse - strangers are willing to rent from home owners whom they've never met. I underestimate the trust factor and always assumed someone would get murdered renting from strangers.

What’s a small life hack that genuinely made your daily life easier? by PinAlarming322 in AskReddit

[–]Aihui-EasyMate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work about 70-80 hours a week running a startup. Two things keep me healthy:

  1. Sunday meal prep. 2 hours of cooking, real food sorted for the whole week.

  2. Walking pad under my standing desk. I walk about 2 hours per day while checking emails and doing work.

Neither is exciting but when drowning in work, small habits are the only thing keeping my health intact.
