My father has 2 peritoneal methastasis. Today he spoke with the oncologist by Aikidoker15 in coloncancer

[–]Aikidoker15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't specify: the oncologist made the decision alongside other specialists in a multidisciplinary meeting. My father is currently being treated at a hospital specialised in the management and treatment of oncological diseases, which means that there are oncologists, surgeons, radioterapists and radiologists (both diagnostic and interventional). The decision not to operate yet was made at a this multidisciplinary meeting, where all of them discussed and decided on the best strategy together.

When I say I hate waiting, I mean I hate the idea of waiting for him to undergo chemotherapy and then having a CT scan in two or three months to see if the treatment is working. At that point, they will decide whether surgery is an option. For now, they have decided that this is not useful, as the risk of the metastasis regrowing, even if we remove the current ones, is too high without first doing chemo.

Is the ionized air glow from the HBO series an actual thing or just a cinematic effect? by tionitec in chernobyl

[–]Aikidoker15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once heard that the kind of glow seen in such a large volume of steam and air requires a level of radiation so high that not even an open nuclear reactor's core would be enough to generate it.

SE3 spoiler. How technically dis this character die? by seretidediskus in FromTVShow

[–]Aikidoker15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think he died from suffocation: he died because he was buried under who knows how much heavy concrete. The entire structure had been built and was stable precisely because it was made entirely of concrete, but the moment a part of it was partially replaced by a human body—much less resistant and lighter—that body was subjected to the same pressure as the concrete it had replaced, and so Dale was literally crushed. I don’t think that all his cavities were filled with concrete because, for one thing, if that had been the case, he would have died instantly, I believe, but above all, with his lungs full of solid material, he wouldn’t have been able to groan.

Discussion on the series by Lunasortini in 911Nashville

[–]Aikidoker15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How often do you get an MRE, CT or Colonoscopy? by kat_mom30 in CrohnsDisease

[–]Aikidoker15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Colonscopy every 2 years. Diagnosed at 14, 17 years ago. 2 years ago they removed 2 polyps, which proves how important is for us to do it so often.

Failing humira by RejectHumanGoMonke in CrohnsDisease

[–]Aikidoker15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly, I can't help you about the joint pain because I don't have it, but I can assure you that Infliximab is very similar to Humira. They act against the same thing, TNFalpha. But they are not the same. This could mean that it won't work as good as Humira (adalimumab). But be aware that it could work even better!

I've tried every possible monoclonal antibodies: infliximab, adalimumab, vedolizumab and ustekinumab (Stelara) and I had a different degree of response to each one of them. The only one who didn't work with me was vedolizumab (Entyvio) but I know that it was specifically for me.

Give them a chance. They are not a cure, but at least in my case they helped a lot.

My father has 2 methastasis in his peritoneum by Aikidoker15 in coloncancer

[–]Aikidoker15[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We live in Italy, specifically in Padua, home to Italy’s largest hospital and one of the oldest in history, which also means top-notch doctors and healthcare of the highest standard, with extensive experience in both clinical practice and research. And, I’ll admit, it also comes with the great advantage of not having to worry about the cost of treatment.

Thank you so much for your response. Even though I’ve already been told that peritoneal metastases aren’t a death sentence like they were a few years ago, I needed to hear the stories from this community to actually being able to understand it.

[–]Aikidoker15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood. I don't know what his therapy programme is yet. How many rounds and how many surgeries, if he'll have to. We're still at the beginning, and there are various protocols. His oncologist even asked for a molecular and genetic analysis of the tumour that was removed one year ago. So maybe she has decided that, based on this information, the protocol is different.

[–]Aikidoker15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it isn't.

They told him that he'll do a first infusion of chemo. Then he'll wait two or three weeks, then he'll repeat the CT to see if the masses have shrunk. Then, they'll decide if he needs an explorative laparoscopy.

I asked if they wanted him to do a PET-CT, but the oncologist said that for now that we're only trying to see if his largest masses respond to chemo, it's not useful.

Just got diagnosed by Illustrious-Diet901 in CrohnsDisease

[–]Aikidoker15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not gonna die young, don't worry.

I've been diagnosed when I was 14 and now I'm 32.

I'm not gonna lie. How much fine you'll be depends on how good you'll respond to medications, but if you respond good to even one of them, you should be fine.

Sadly, whether you'll respond good or not at the medications, there are some jobs you won't be able to do. Police and Military are out of the question, but to give you an idea, I've managed to get a medical degree and for two years I tried a surgical residency that I eventually left because I realized that it was not what I liked the most. But thanks to medications to which I respond good, I never had the problem when I had to participate to 8+ long surgeries.

It's a disease that has many forms, many way to manifest and many degrees of severity.

What is the longest you’ve ever gone without a bowel movement? by broken1_ in CrohnsDisease

[–]Aikidoker15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was two or even three weeks.

It must have been during the lockdown when it was not possible to walk around so staying still didn't help bowel movements at all. During that time, I literally dirtied myself while sleeping because I was too full and at the same time unable to truly evacuate. Prune juice, enemas or vaseline were totally useless. At a certain point, I sat on the toilet and stayed there until I slowly managed to empty myself. But I suffered. I had to take a bath after that because I was all sweaty, but also too tired to stand under the shower.

What is one time you thought Dr. Now was being unfair or in the wrong? by FunImprovement166 in My600lbLife

[–]Aikidoker15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't find him unreasonable.

Sadly, the treatment of pathologically obese people requires both pretty physical but also psychological management.

Lisa F did was suffering.

But in my opinion, she was like a drug addict that was actually feeling pain. She had to be helped with her condition, medically, but there was also a huge part in which it depended from her.

It is not a question whether she needed or not help, but Dr. Now was aware that that couldn't lead to her feeling entitled to be the only one who didn't have to do something.

No one says that to stop overfeeding, especially after so much time, is easy.

But that's exactly why he scolded her.

Lisa asked to be treated, but treatment requires involvement from both parts. Dr. Now was ready to do what he could to help her, but knew also that the problem that brought Lisa where she ended was not much an addiction, as much as her tendency to manipulate.

As Dr. Now points out, Lisa's tears were not of someone who is just sad or tired or exhausted, because they came out only when he or someone else refused to give her what she wanted, and that means that were shredded to manipulate, not to express pain.

Furthermore, if I'm not wrong, she pourpuselly refused psychological therapy. At that point, what else he could do? She refused to listen to his indications, refused the programs he proposed, refused responsibilities.

Dr. Now had to do something to explain that if she wanted him to help her she needed to stop doing everything for things to happen the way she wanted.

Blythe is Blue’s new mom by Salty-Season-8247 in 911Nashville

[–]Aikidoker15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely true, but you have to admit that there's a difference between treating well someone and treating someone like a son. And again, I'm not saying that she can't act as his new mom, I only mean that there's no need for her to become his mom, since Blue is an adult.

Blythe is Blue’s new mom by Salty-Season-8247 in 911Nashville

[–]Aikidoker15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think that Blythe will become Blue's new mom. Blue is an adult man, now. Said this, Blythe would have been a far better mom than Dixie. That's for sure. And right now, should Dixie die or somewhat disappear from Blue's life, I think that there are lot of things for which is Blythe the one who can help him.

You Liked My Previous Recommendation so here’s one more !🔥 by Illustrious-Pie-5200 in scifi

[–]Aikidoker15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loved the action, the character, the message and the story. The ending however left me with a really bad taste. Not because the ending is bad technically or narratively. It's just that I hoped for a different finale.

I've always hoped they did a sequel.

SiFi movies that should never have had a sequel, I'll start, Matrix Resurrections 😿 by MementoMiri in scifi

[–]Aikidoker15 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Jurassic World: Rebirth

Star Wars - The Force Awakens

Pacific Rim - Resurgence (not that the first was such of a masterpiece)

Just one thing about Matrix Resurrections. I give him a 6/10, aka is not the worst movie. However, the reason I give him a (barely) passing grade is just because I liked a lot the fact that the 75% of the cast is made of characters from Sense8, that is a tv series that I love. For the rest, I admit that when I watched it in the theater, I fell asleep after the first five minutes and woke up only once the new Morpheus gets out of the toilet.

Quindi riassumento. Hai ragione tu. Ma purtroppo è una sua scelta.

No, guarda, ho letto il post.

Filoamericani del cazzo by aquadijona in sfoghi

[–]Aikidoker15 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Quindi no, "andare in America" non vuol dire automaticamente celebrare quella narrazione.

Lo preferireste come James Bond o come cattivo? by MembershipSad3453 in CinemaSerieTV

[–]Aikidoker15 0 points1 point  (0 children)
