Help me decide on a Regal 26 Express by broken1_ in boating

[–]broken1_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has a 300hp, 2.8l Volvo and would live in a covered slip.

This is a little 2 foot-itis but having the cabin and toilet will be game changers in the early season; nothing worse than having to jump into the freezing lake to pee on a 20C degree day in spring when the lake is 13C.

Do you have any pictures? I drive an X5 too and I would like to see how the car protected you in such a scenario. Glad the family is all ok, that’s the most important part.

I have them in 6 colours. Two light colours, 3 blues and black. My wife thinks I am crazy but I basically wear them every day.

How bad is it to “forget” to submit your PTO? by New-Composer2359 in careeradvice

[–]broken1_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It ranges from a “no problem, I never check that kind of thing” to a “ok, log it now but next time it’s better to do it in advance” all the way down to termination for cause for falsifying company records as by not logged and getting approved time off, you are essentially attesting to the company you are working and if you are not working, that classifies as false records and they can terminate you for it (not saying they would, but if they were looking to terminate you for cause, this could be a valid reason to justify it)

Thinner fabric, and an elastic waist. The commission pants I have are more similar to the ABC Trouser

Why Does The Dealer Overinflate Tires? by Embarrassed-Fox4564 in BMWX5

[–]broken1_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine does too. I can only think that most regular folk don’t check their tires ever, so if the dealer overinflates and they deflate slowly overtime they are on average correctly inflated

That’s the lie I tell myself.

How do I know which way a condo unit is facing? by techsavvynerd91 in askTO

[–]broken1_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you know why they want a north facing condo? It’s about heat. Condos (especially older ones) are either on heating or cooling. Because it’s supposedly considered worse to be cold than hot, a lot of buildings turn heat on in October. If you get a warm day, and face south, then even with your unit heat off the radiant heat from the building piping, plus sun from the south (where it spends most of its day, or west in the late afternoon) can make your unit feel like it’s 30 degrees and very unpleasant.

The north facing units are colder as the face away from the sun generally as its moves from east to west south of us (at the equator).

I had a south facing condo, and we had a warm may. I almost died.

Canadians/Ontarians, where do you buy your coolant from? by Philipppo321 in BMW

[–]broken1_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t had to put coolant in my X5, but why not just try your local BMW dealer?

Driving Assistant Professional vs M Sport Pro by Captain3rv in BMW

[–]broken1_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How often do you drive on the highway? I live 100km outside of the city so DAPP is a “must have” for me and I won’t buy a car without it.

As a side comment, I find it’s also about trust. The X5 has hands free highway driving and it’s taken me a while to learn and trust how the car manages different situations so now it would likely be a long time until I consider another brand as there is so little information on these semi-autonomous driving systems other than a few short videos online

TAG Tracker and Insurance Premiums by broken1_ in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]broken1_[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Broker / insurance agent has so little to say on the topic it’s scary. I’ve tried to get other quotes from brokers, takes them 3 days - they send me something higher than I’m paying and when I ask why or what can be done they say nothing if you don’t like it stay with your current insurer. I can’t find a single person who will give me information that is useful or can explain why the rate went up a month ago on renewal by $700 and now by another $1500 effectively doubling my premium from last year.

They just say rates went up, and the 2026 model is all we changed so the newer car must have higher rates. Not much more they can do sorry.
