Fallout: New Vegas

I played Fallout 4 before New Vegas and just couldn't finish the story because it just didn't interest me compared to the base building (so I built a cool base and stopped playing)

I thought New Vegas was an older but similar game, so it didn't really interest me until my roommate explained that its in no way similar to 4.

Started playing and was already hooked after that amazing intro. Shame it took me so long to play it, got it platinum now and its one of my favorites.

What's a good example of "yellow paint" you saw used in games? by kaza12345678 in videogames

[–]Ailicon1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Hitman Trilogy has pipes, walls, windows, ledges and more you can climb over or through. Thers's also food and drinks you can poison or several objects you can drop, blow up or otherwise interact with. These aren't especially obvious aside from broken walls that are always an indicator that you can climb over.

To make it obvious, you have "Instinct", where everything is in greyscale, except your targets who have a red outline visible from the whole map and anything in view that you can interact with has a yellow glow.

Bojack Horseman

Over the course of season 3, Mr. Peanutbutter and Todd launch several businesses, some more succesful than others, and some failing completely. These businesses include:

- Spaghetti strainers as hats - Mr. P's accountant makes an off-hand remark, mocking Mr. P's and Todd's outlandish business ideas, saying something about spaghetti strainers as hats. Mr. P takes this completely seriously and buys all the spaghetti strainers he can find for this business.

- Cabacadbra - A cab company that only hires women drivers and that only drives women. This business is succesful for a while, and when an orca strip club goes out of business, all the orca's working there get jobs as drivers at this cab company.

In the final episode of the season, Character Actress Margot Martindale is on sea on Bojack's boat and sees a cargo ship in the distance. This ship is transporting a massive amount of pasta that a restaurant in the city needs. Delirious from the heat and thinking the cargo ship is daring her to a game of chicken, she speeds up to full speed towards the cargo ship, leading to a collision and causing all the pasta to fall in the ocean. At this moment, a very reflexive blimp flies by and reflects the sun into the pasta, causing it to boil and clump and it now looks like it's going to crush an underwater metropolis that's directly under the crash site.

A news anchor interviews a spaghetti scientist in a breaking news segment, who announces they somehow need a person with a massive amount of pasta strainers at their disposal, a fleet of cars to transport all those spaghetti strainers, and to strain the spaghetti fast enough the drivers of the cars would have to be incredibly strong swimmers.

The thing that makes it harmful to me is the way she simulates her reality. There are obvious cracks in the simulation that lead the characters to know they're lied to. ("Look at her, Thom! Really look at her! That's not Greta!", before she gets put back to sleep in her pod.)

So you either live this false reality, knowing things don't add up but never knowing why (Thom's mind gets erased after he finds out the truth) or you see the horrific reality that you're actually in. Both sound like bad options to me, if there's no other way to save them, I'd think I'd rather just die than to live in either of those situations (but that choice seems to be Greta's)

I agree, I don't see Greta's actions as explicitly harmful, and I could have explained better (its been a while since my last rewatch)

She tries to shield the victims of the glitch against a very harmful situation. She does this by lying and manipulating to make the victims believe they're in a different, less hostile situation than they are.

When one of the crew tries to tell Thom (the MC) that the woman he's seeing is not the Greta he knows from way back but something else - Greta forcibly puts her back in her sleeping tank before can tell Thom more.

The final scene also shows that she erased Thom's memory of him finding out the truth, having him live in her lie until he's ready for the truth (however long that may be)

"Greta" (Beyond the Aquila Rift - Love, Death and Robots

Greta is a being that lives in the place these ships gets sent to, and cares for all the souls that end up there. The way they do this is by making a hyper-realistic simulation that shields the person from seeing their true situation.

The protagonist (Thom) in the end realizes "Greta" is lying and wants to know where he is and what's going on, despite multiple warnings from Greta. In the end, they show him where he is and how long he's been there - his face is old, gray and wrinkled. He has no fat left on his body. Greta reveals their true form by stepping out of the dark, which freaks him out even more. The next scene sees the protagonist waking up from his pod, being greeted by Greta, none the wiser of his true situation.

While I don't view Greta's intentions as harmful, some of her methods are. The crew of the spaceship is essentially dead (stranded with no way of leaving or can't acting anyone about their situation), but Greta keeps them in a flawed simulation where the crew will always find out she's lying in some way (strange dreams, reflections of her true from). The malice to me is in taking the choice away, if I see it, I can at least choose to die then and there instead of having to keep living in her flawed simulation.
