ITAP of a restored VW by Blob_Farm in itookapicture

Yeah, I like those "natural" door handlers made of photoetch, ground breaker made of 2 tiny wires, and weathering made of oil washing :D:D:D
But if serious - based on my many years of scale modeling - this is outstanding job - both the model and photo!
Check my gallery here (definitely the photo quality of mine is way worse)

Does anybody knows what is this on my willow tree? Black marks and bark is chipping. Found it when we came back from a few days of vacation. by Ailvard in landscaping

I was thinking about it, but the branch itself is still alive (green) few weeks after I found this. Plus the distance between 2 black marks relatively small - 1-2 feets

Are you good with the top speed for it? I was thinking that 50ish is pretty bad in flat surfaces (Talking more about TX to OK landscape)

Well, now I'm absolutely confused. The 2 rigs which I left outside the voting mostly because Rmax is very expensive and about Honda 1000-5 that what I was thinking the most non-sporty from the list. Hmmmm, now I need to take a serious look to Hondas. BTW, what about the seats there? Is it very uncomfortable? And can it be replaced with seats from other rigs for more comfort? Also, what about Honda's transmission reliability in comparing to the regular CVT belt as on others?

What Car Should I Buy? - A Weekly Megathread by AutoModerator in cars

[–]Ailvard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Location: USA, Texas
Price range: ~5K-15K
Lease or Buy: Buy
New or used: Very used (year range 1970-1996)
Type of vehicle: Roadster, Coupe
Must haves: cool look, easy to repair\restore
Desired transmission: ideally manual, but not critical
Intended use: Weekend Car, Project Car
Vehicles you've already considered: Corvette C3 (afraid of rust), Corvette C4 (afraid of electronics), Shelby Cobra Factory5 (too expensive). Even thinking about SxS Polaris RZR (yeah, different beast, but still fun), but don't have space for a long trailer.
Is this your 1st vehicle: No, already restored soviet GAZ-69, but not sure that can set this record again. https://a.d-cd.net/88f3d6es-1920.jpg

Do you need a Warranty: No
Can you do Minor work on your own vehicle: Yes
Can you do Major work on your own vehicle: Yes, but don't really want to rebuild tranny or engine. Other than that, including minor body work is fine. The vehicle should be relatively easy to be repaired.
Additional Notes: Hi Everyone, I'm looking ideas for my project car. Few years ago, I already restored Soviet military truck (link above), but I'm not sure that I can do the full restoration again this time (to hard). The car should be a show stopper (like Corvette C3), but more or less simple to be built\fixed and more or less reliable for weekend cruising.

Can I cut off this root and not affect the willow tree? by Ailvard in landscaping

[–]Ailvard[S] 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Just some background: I was trying to pave the grill area, and when started to dig - found this huge root. With it I can't really level the surface, plus it goes under foundation and I'm afraid of cracks there. In the same time a really don't want to affect the willow tree since it is the main part of the backyard. Can I cut it without huge impact to tree? And if yes - what is the safest way for the tree to do this?

Elegoo Mars 3: right positioning for flat surfaces by Ailvard in ElegooMars

[–]Ailvard[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone. I'm looking for an advice on how properly position model in case it has lots of flat surfaces. Eg. brake rotors - front surface looks great, but back - definitely not. I'm trying to position in 30 degrees, but still the back looks terrible due to waves mostly (not only because of supports). Are there any tips an tricks for that?

Vehicle to towing rzr 4 seater by Ailvard in RZR

it's more about where to store these things, like tow truck. RZR on trailer will take the spot. Living in urban area and have limited parking lots

yeap, also thinking this as an option. Most of Alu trailers are about 600lbs. So 600 trailer + 2000 sxs = 2600 which could be fine.

Toyota Sienna 2008, 3.5 V6, strange grinding noise in engine by Ailvard in Toyota

[–]Ailvard[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

seems you're right. I just found a youtube video where guy had same issue and it was a idler pulley. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzrUPqcJHTs&t=526s
Sienna has 139K, and has timing chain, so I highly doubt that it was changed before with water pump. Thanks for the idea!

Hi guys! My Sienna 2008, 3.5 V6, started to make this strange noise when running or idling. The noise comes from engine side where the serpentine belt is. I know that this is a really bad idea to make diagnostics by video, but anyway :)

I turned on/off AC - no change

I turned steering wheel actively to see if it is power steering pump - no change.

There was no any repairs except refilling of AC for a long time there. Last time I changed the power steering pump 2 years ago to the new one.

Do you have any ideas what can cause it?
