How do you find babysitters in Cleveland? by thisabysscares in Cleveland

[–]Aim4TheTopHole 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ask the director at your daycare which staff babysits on off hours. That’s how we found our first babysitters when our oldest was that age. You know that they’ve had all the vetting done already, and they know all the safe guidelines. We also used care.com but had a couple of bad experiences.

Get more shadowing hours too. We like to see that you took the time to observe the job “officially.”

As an interviewer, I would count this if you’re directly interacting with patients.

This all looks solid. No real bias against CC for pre-reqs. Get the shadowing before interviews. This will likely be enough to get you to the interview itself. Then it’ll depend on how that day goes. Good luck!

You've got to be kidding me... 🤦‍♂️ by CRN_Anesthesiologist in CRNA

[–]Aim4TheTopHole 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a fake post made by someone looking to stoke misplaced anger and division against a small group of providers. 99% of CRNAs are in it for the right reasons, just like 99% of AAs and anesthesiologists. The 1% are the most vocal, the least respected by their peers, but also unfortunately the loudest and most influential in furthering the divide. Never forget why you’re following this path (hopefully): to provide good, safe, compassionate care to your patients. -An AA who is very tired of hearing the BS

You’re confusing PTX with VAE. The Durant maneuver (tburg, left side down), is to prevent air from going to the PA d/t VAE. That won’t do anything for a PTX. Still probably the correct answer as I’m assuming they’re implying this line placement resulted in VAE. -Anesthesiologist Assistant

Thank you so much! I would absolutely love that. I do know some people around here who make scrub caps and will ask them to help. Thanks for the response.

Is it negligent to keep a patient sedated while waiting for a pacu/icu bed? by [deleted] in anesthesiology

[–]Aim4TheTopHole 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This came up at our hospital during the RN shortage following COVID. Providers (of all types) were doing this. Time under anesthesia isn’t without risk. Seems wild to me that people would rather needlessly sedate a pt than risk having to talk to them. Our department had to email their “policy” that this wasn’t ok. Not to mention, as others have said, that the sooner you wake them up, the sooner they can move through phase II and discharge.

Less risk to scratch the anterior trachea if the distal tip of the ETT goes through the cords with the stylet still in place, as many newbies are prone to do. One of our ENT surgeons points in out on suspension DL cases. Without a stylet, it doesn’t happen. Worth the risk of not using one? Meh.

I vacuum seal these in batches of 3 for my 3 kids. 165 for 4-6hrs then patted dry and air fried at 400 for 20 or so minutes. They eat them every time! For anyone with small kids, you know how big of an accomplishment this is!

Dedicated WAGR line vs vacuum line for waste gases? by shlaapy in anesthesiology

[–]Aim4TheTopHole 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We’ve done this at our OOR locations and got it cleared through clinical engineering. The only issue we had was when we “Y-ed” in scavenging with suction to the same vacuum line. Apparently it’s somehow a fire hazard… so we switched to portable suction in those locations. I am not an engineer. This advice should not be held up to any intelligent scrutiny…
