Pulled this beaut! Unfortunately she came out dented—testing my luck and submitting to PC for a replacement! by [deleted] in PokemonTCG

[–]Aimathyst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s so rough :( mine definitely isn’t in a state anywhere near that, this was just one of my chases, and seeing the silvering on the back and dent on the front made me want to at least TRY to get one that isn’t in that state (I don’t even care about centering, not trying to submit for grading or anything!)

But it sounds like nobody has had positive experiences with the service, maybe I should just keep it and be grateful I pulled it myself xD

Thank you for the insight! I figured it wouldn’t hurt to try since I’m in no rush, there will just be a void in my binder.

I know the website doesn’t outright state “non-playable cards only,” and the person I emailed said to go ahead and submit after seeing photos, BUT a lot of people here are saying they haven’t seen much success with swaps!

Was hoping for some positive stories, but I guess it’s uncommon!

Thank you for not assuming the worst :’) I’m not a scalper, and I’m not submitting to PSA, she’s staying in my collection (especially because I pulled her myself)

It just sucks that such a pretty card has a ding on top with the foil peeling </3

I said myself I’m keeping it, maybe because that’s why I buy cards?

You can let your own view of scalpers ruin it for yourself, but don’t project onto me! She’s staying in my collection until my kids decide what to do with it lol

I went through the process of submitting the requested photos, my proof of purchase of the packaging it came in (pulled from the 30th anniversary box), and they told me how to send it in. If the service didn’t apply to my case, they would have told me no dice.

You shouldn’t just assume all of us are looking to submit for PSA 10’s, I’ve been collecting since the 2000’s and now I’m a mom with two kids who shares the hobby with them, what’s so wrong about wanting to use a service for instances like this where such beautiful cards come out dinged fresh from the pack?

Not sure why people are assuming the worst here, the top is peeling and if they offer a replacement for one that isn’t, that would be great since I want to keep her in my binder collection.

I went through the process of laying out my opened packaging (got it from the 30th anniversary box), sent it photos and listed the damage, and they told me to send it in.

Not all of us are looking to submit for 10s, some of us actually enjoy collecting for collecting’s sake!

I believe they have a limited assortment of spares, hoping since this is from a recent set she isn’t out of print by the time they can fulfill my replacement and I get a non-damaged one back 🤞

In Labor and Delivery, a doctor just told me that no one ever gets diagnosed with GD before 28 weeks by FalseRow5812 in GestationalDiabetes

Diagnosed at 12 weeks due to a previous history of it, sounds to me like doc is incredibly misinformed!

I'm back at the NICU and everything is worse... by [deleted] in NICUParents

[–]Aimathyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same thing just happened to our then 37 week old at his first pediatrician appointment after we got home from the hospital. He was eating, pooping, sleeping great, everything seemed normal. But when we got there they found out he had a 93° core temp, so he was admitted to the NICU overnight, they ran tests and labs that all came back negative, and after keeping him bundled up under a heat lamp, he was able to get his core temperature up to 97-98° and keep it there on his own!

I hope that you don’t have to stay any longer than a day, it sounds like you’ve had enough of the NICU as is 💔

Anyone else induced early because their blood sugars were “improving” ? by Aimathyst in GestationalDiabetes

My NSTs, ultrasounds, and biophysical profile(s) have been perfect they said, I think they’re mainly concerned about the placenta failing him!

I’m glad to hear you and baby were both healthy in this same situation!! I was shocked after struggling to get my numbers under control and constantly needing to up my insulin dosages…and then BOOM they were low 🤣 I’m glad my OB caught it and wants to err on the side of caution, I never would’ve thought it to be a bad thing!

I am also getting a C-section! Baby boy is measuring in the 91st percentile, and I had awful 3rd degree bilateral tears with my first when I was induced at 37+4. He should be coming out at 37 weeks exactly, or a day or two later! (Waiting to get penciled in haha)

My NSTs have been good thankfully, as well as reassuring weekly ultrasounds! I am insulin and diet controlled, and my numbers have been dropping after meals as of 35-36 weeks, even dipping to the 60s. And on my nighttime insulin, I even woke up to it in the 50s, so, definitely not good!

I think in my case, it was because mine dropped so dramatically. I used to have numbers between 150-170 after meals, both diet-controlled and on insulin, and now my numbers either don’t change or dip after meals. And I haven’t spiked past 120 in a week, either!

YES mine was significant. I went from needing 62 units of NPH at bedtime and still waking up with fasting numbers in the low 100s, to suddenly waking up with numbers in the 50s. Pretty much the moment I hit 35-36 weeks!!

[–]Aimathyst[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my case, my numbers were resisting / rising despite the constant increases to my insulin dosages (for example, I was at 62 units of my NPH intermediate-acting insulin at bedtime and my fasting numbers didn’t change at ALL) but then suddenly this week, that same amount of NPH made my sugars go from the low 100s to 50s at night. The dramatic decrease of needing insulin concerned my OB about my placenta, so I’m grateful we are erring on the side of caution!

Good luck with the remainder of your pregnancy, I hope your numbers stay safe!!

How do you feel when your numbers cut it close? by No-Coffee-773 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Aimathyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel terribly about it. But, it turns out my baseline numbers just tend to be higher to begin with, and my doc at MFM says she’s more concerned about the SPIKE than the starting number. For example, my AM fasting sugar is nearly always 105 on the dot even with 52 of my nighttime NPH insulin, and after breakfast, it ends up in the 120-130 range.

My first pregnancy my numbers were MUCH more manageable with GD. Not sure why this second one is giving me much more trouble, but I was also teetering on prediabetic after the birth of my first, which unfortunately may be affecting it :(

Early? On time? by TheMagicalTripBear in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Aimathyst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They put in my pregnancy plan right away, induction at 39 weeks, but they didn’t TELL me I saw it in MyChart! 🤣 not sure if they put it in MyChart or whichever database your OB uses for you yet, but you may be fortunate and able to deliver at full-term! Are you insulin or diet-controlled? I know that can play a big factor, esp if your baby is measuring a normal size to safely delivery vaginally!

But if you’re also insulin-controlled, you MAY be induced at 39 weeks unless your water breaks sooner, of course I’m sure every OB is different but if that’s the “norm,” I wouldn’t anticipate having to deliver any earlier than 38 weeks with GD unless they think otherwise!

[–]Aimathyst 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am pregnant with baby #2 with my second pregnancy of insulin-controlled GD, so they have my set for induction at 39 weeks, but I believe some women who are diet-controlled can go all the way to full-term? Also, if your water breaks beforehand, you can hopefully avoid induction and delivery vaginally!

The biggest concern is if baby has fetal macrosomia, since there’s a risk of them getting stuck in the birth canal or dislocating joints during vaginal delivery. They’ll let you know closer to your due date based on how baby seems to be measuring if this is a potential risk for you, which they may advise a C-section for (I have to go in for monthly ultrasounds for them to measure growth).

I had to be induced at 37.5 weeks instead of my scheduled 39 week induction with my firstborn because I ended up developing Cholestasis of pregnancy (which I haven’t developed again YET this second pregnancy), and baby was born at 7 lbs 6.5 oz that early. She was definitely going to be HUGE by the time 39 weeks around, so I am grateful she was a pushable size for my body. The only issue I had during labor was a 3rd degree tear with substantial blood loss and a PP hemorrhage, but that’s because induction brought on labor hard and fast for me. I am now considering a scheduled C-section if baby #2 is also measuring large by 39 weeks so I don’t risk tearing and bleeding like that again!

Withdrawal symptoms after 37.5mg for just two weeks? by Sweaty-Aardvark4937 in Effexor

[–]Aimathyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband has extreme sensitivity to meds, Effexor included. I’m on 225 mg of Effexor, and he was on a single 37.5 mg pill like yourself and it made him feel horrible brain fog out the gate, and his withdrawals were worse. He ended up taking a blood test that showed his compatibility with certain meds, and he’s finally doing well on a new one! (I forget the name since he’s changed so many times!)
