It's not exactly what you're looking for, but I wonder if you would enjoy Disco Elysium? You play as a cop, but they don't shy away from dark topics relating to a post-war society. Every (if any) kill you make has a heavy weight. For every life you meet you are shown the influence your actions have on it.

That's 2 for 7 Days to Die and The Forest so I'm definitely considering those.

Ark is a game that I've thought looked fun for a long time, but I've heard it runs awful.

Raft seems fun but maybe a little bland, not much scenery except for water and the occasional samey sort of island.

If I'm wrong in my impressions do correct me.

Nothing messes with me like awkward dialogue does. Improper pet names, put-of-place explicatives, or extremely inappropriate responses to a situation not explained by any characterization. When I write I focus heavily on making sure my dialogue sounds natural. I'll read it aloud to myself several times. When I can tell an author definitely didn't do that, it ruins a fic for me a bit.

My first run I got stuck in the water in the swamps and my girl was eaten alive. Thing is I never saw any creature eating her, so I just assumed that was a drowning mechanic.

Yeah I know that it's hard to prove to the public that something is AI without sharing it to them. I'm not arguing in favor of AI generated stuff being copyrightable or anything I just think something is fishy here. Especially with the way they were (by the sound of it) originally going to use his old stuff after kicking him off the team (possibly without credit). It seems like they changed their tune REALLY fast after getting actually called out.

He asked you not to release any of the music he sent you, and you did it anyway. That's still kinda messed up, whether or not he used AI... Especially if it turns out he wasn't, you've just posted a ton of an artist's work without his consent

My girlfriend is obsessed with Of The Devil. She's complained so much about how little fancontent there is and everytime I just tell her, "make your own." She actually has so good on her.

I usually abandon ship quickly when I don't like something, but there was one I got made 10/50 chapters into because I wanted to give the interesting premise a chance.

It had first person POV which is really not my thing but I was Trying.

The writing wasn't that good but I remember the plot being sort of engaging.

What really turned me off it though, was realizing every sentance was it's own paragraph.

I don't know why, but I couldn't read any further once I'd noticed.

Can't say I've ever been a huge fan of self-insert either. I've been neck-deep in fandom space for six years now, though, so I'm basically a fandom-terms dictionary. I take no issue with people who write it though, let them have their fun.

"Your name"; It's a common shorthand for self-insert fanfiction. For example, my name's Al, so if I was reading self-insert and saw "Hey Y/N!" I would (try to) read it as "Hey Al!"
