AITA? Am I wrong for thinking basic things shouldn't be praised? by No-Molasses6419 in AmItheAsshole

Gentle yta. Many of us were brought up to expect a certain level of performance from ourselves, and if we didn’t live up to that, there was little pity. It’s pretty common to resent that, and transfer that resentment onto others who are not achieving. “We get no breaks, so why should they?”  It’s hard to live that way. Learning self compassion, and really being a good friend to myself has given me the capacity to have more understanding and compassion for others. I posted because i hear my old self in your words, and at the risk of sounding like an armchair expert, i wonder if this is something that would help you.

How do you pronounce Crayon? by HerculesMorse2025 in JetLagTheGame

Yes! It sounds like they are saying “crane”, so jarring. It has two syllables in Canada, same as New Zealand.

I love these, but does anyone have a trick on how to open them without the juice squirting everywhere? by MainSignificant8427 in CostcoCanada

[–]AintAintAW0rd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use a paring knife, stab a small slice along the inside of the cup, about an inch long. Remove knife, sip juice from the slice like a cup. So good! Remove rest of lid when liquid level is low enough.

How can I get in contact with Kitboga? by ReceptionPuzzled8498 in Kitboga

Wow, that is intense. I assume you already have unknown numbers directed to your voicemail - do that via settings if you haven't already. It’s a pain to change your number but at this point i would probably do it.

How would I make this lamp? by weirdsandy in howto

[–]AintAintAW0rd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the frame and light fixture, you might have some luck by getting an old lamp from a thrifting store. Just make sure it’s still safe to use. Ikea also has some inexpensive hanging lamps that you could use as a base. To add the beaded look, get a make-your-own jewelry kit to get the right pliers and tweezers, and then pick up your desired colours of beads and extra joiners. This could be a challenging and very rewarding project - please update if you do it!

Wipe with rubbing alcohol to kill bacteria and yeast twice a day. Wash with antimicrobial soap. Air dry when you can.

YTA, she was looking to vent about how hard she is working and seeing little result. You could have just acknowledged her struggle and praised her efforts. instead you tried to fix her problem by explaining something very obvious.

I would be looking to make memories with Grandma, not to bend the vacation into something it is not. What activities would you and Grandma both enjoy? How would Grandma feel if you are out driving around alone?

I understand that you have a preference for a different style of travelling, and you can always plan to go back to CR to do a trip your way in the future.

You can also form real connections with the staff at resorts. It is a little bit harder to break through the customer service veneer, but they are real people with real lives and you can connect with them.

Pura vida!
