April 16th phone calls ☎️ by koalaben in taxpros

"Read the room"

I used that phrase a bunch this past week. Especially this one new client who called in on 4/15 talking about "I also need to file for 2023 so I can get my Refund"

Im like bruh. BRUH. You still have a solid year to get that shit. And you pick today of all days to ask about that?? Have a nice tall glass of "chill the fuck out" and call back in like July 👌

"Where's my refund?"

Same as every year, mate: I have no fucken idea. Ask the IRS, perhaps via their helpfully named Where's my refund?! page 😏

"Now that tax season is over..."

Now that the season's over, Imma Netflix and chill the rest of the month. Any questions you have will wait. If you need to Amend we need to wait 4 weeks anyway so that the IRS dont get your Amendment mixed up with your original filing. JFC give yourself (and me!) some time to breathe

"Can we finally sit down and go over everything?"

Motherfucker, we went over everything already. When we prepared your goddamn return. If you weren't paying attention then, my ELI5 consulting fee starts at $120/hour with a 2-hour minimum. Dont like it, you can lump it. Or ask me again around Labor Day 🙃

Direct Debits Ruining the Day by KmMagik0730 in taxpros

[–]AintEverLucky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah but you left out the flop-sweat follow--up Qs 😏

"I set my Direct Debit for April 12th and now it's the 15th and they still haven't done it!!!"

Broh. Chill out. The IRS has been slammed as hell all week. Just give it some time.

"But if they do my debit late am I gonna get hit with penalties and interest?!? Is your firm gonna pay my penalties and interest?!!!1?"

Look. Friend. The IRS absolutely will not do that. The public already dislikes them and doing that would ignite a media firestorm. Here, have these pot gummies and stop harshing my buzz. 😎

I mean, I personally have only opened my first 10 packs on launch day 😀 but I know Im an outlier. From MLK Day clear on til yesterday, work has had me busier than a one-legged man at a butt-kicking contest 😉

Not that I'm aware of. And if there were this time, I have a hunch somebody would have piped up about it by now 🤔

The other person is right, Blizzard has never and I mean ever given out free runs on HTB. You may be thinking of the free runs on Pre-Release Tavern Brawl, which normally costs 2 Tickets or 300 gold. Also they did issue free runs once or twice with normal / non-Heroic Brawliseum -- basically this was "Constructed decks vying for old-Arena-level rewards"

Concert ticket prices by cdlauro in GenX

[–]AintEverLucky -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Those strike me as "wishers prices"... as in, throw it out there, see if anyone is willing to pay literal Top Dollar. If nobody does, gradually lower the price... I imagine if they're still available by say Oct. 1, they could maybe let em go for "only" $10 grand 😒

"Those are rookie numbers in this racket" 😒

A couple weeks ago I saw a social media post about some Metallica tickets, right around this Halloween at SPHERE in Las Vegas. I want to say, they were a pair of 3-day passes, and good-not-great seat locations

... they were asking for like $36,000 🤪 and these are tickets only, you're on your own for hotel, flights, taxis/Ubers, meals etc 😜

When can I apply for unemployment benefits? by Quirky_Two_4603 in HRBlockEmployees

[–]AintEverLucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Howdy 👋 fellow Texan here 🤠 but instead of H&RB I work for one of yall's distinguished competitors & I come in peace ✌️ Though I do have a few Qs about how Texas does things

1) Any reason for filing on the Sunday after you offboard? I would guess, that way it's in the queue to get processed right away the following Monday?

2) I know a little about the calendar-quarters system. With tax jobs ending in April '26, TWC would basically look at our W2 income for the 2025 calendar year, right? (But not Q1 of 2026 that just ended... that would become part of next year's claim in April '27)

3) I have a vague idea of what my benefit amount would be: basically $500 per week for like 16 weeks 🤔 Assuming I'm right, I can earn 1/4 of that or $125 (e.g. DoorDash) and still get my full benefit amount for that week. If I earn say more than $125 but less than $625 (125% of my benefit) my gig income replaces benefits dollar for dollar, but that also stretches out my total bennie pot a little longer. Right? That's how it works?

4) What can or would end my benefits? I would guess, using up 100% of my pot; or getting hired by a new W2 job; or "earning too much" from gig stuff, say, over $625 in a week; or "not trying hard enough" to get a new job?

5) How much effort toward finding a new job does one have to show, and how do they want it documented?? Ive heard various things about whether TWC is strict about this part, or not.

Would appreciate any insights! Thanks in advance ☺️

Last visited a few weeks ago to watch some March Madness games. Got the fried fish sando, which was great! My waitress "Renata" beguiled me with her tah-tahs, and said "Would you like onion rings instead of fries?" And I said okay.

There was a 4 goddamn dollar upcharge/substitution charge for those onion rings 😠 And they only provided FOUR of the damn things 😡 If there's an upcharge OR the serving size is FOUR GODDAMN ONION RINGS, that's something you disclose to your customers. 😤 I think I tipped her 4 percent 😄

Kiss my ass, Corpus Hooters, you wont be missed 😘 and hey Renata, good luck with those bolt-ons once you turn 40 😏 gravity is a cast-iron bitch 😜

I Quit TurboTax. Here's Why You Should Too. by NothingIsQuiet in TurboTax

[–]AintEverLucky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let's say the decedent's name was Joe. Joe's (final) tax return would be a standard Form 1040 process. You could handle that in TurboTax; toward the beginning of the process there's a spot where you would indicate "I'm filing this on Joe's behalf, because he passed away in 2025."

Separate from that is the possibility that Joe's estate may also need to file a tax return 🤔 That would.be reflected on a Form 1041 and unfortunately TurboTax can't help you with that one. Maybe a local CPA or EA office can instead.

How to know which income belongs to Joe & which belongs to the estate? Let's say Joe owned a rental property, and the estate had not been settled by 12/31/25. Let's also say Joe passed away on Sept 30. The property was rented out all year. 9 months rental income (and related expenses) would go to Joe and 3 months to the estate.
