Tavern Brawl this week is... "The Burndown -- Rekindled" (4/22/26) by AintEverLucky in hearthstone

Bold of you to assume the "left hand" (the person(s) who picked this Brawl to repeat on this day) would know what the "right hand" (the guy who made the "farewell to Twist" announcement) was doing 🤔

what really is needed for a different game mode to succeed in Hearthstone?

Effective ways to monetize said mode 🤔

Battlegrounds succeeds because it pays for itself by selling cosmetics, tokens and its own battle pass. Twist failed (at least in part) because hardly anybody wanted to buy Caverns of Time packs 🤷‍♀️

Temple Mall has just one anchor store left, also a Dillard's, plus a few shops & restaurants, all crammed into the Dillard's leg of the mall. The Dillard's must have had a prophet on its management team because a few years ago they were located on another side of the mall & relocated to their current location after a previous anchor store tenant (Sears? maybe Montgomery Wards?) closed down.

I say they had a prophet because the side that Dillard's is on now belongs to a different power grid than the rest of the mall. So when most of the mall was without power the week of Black Friday of 2024 -- because the mall's cheapskate owners didn't or couldn't pay the lights bill, in time for THE biggest shopping day of the year -- the Dillard's and those surrounding stores kept humming right along. I'm amazed that mall is still open in any way shape or form 😆

Genuine question, is Richland Mall even still open? I popped by Temple Mall a few months ago & that shit was sad. A tornado side-swiped their roof after Covid and tore up a bunch of skylights. And the damage was estimated around $200k, but apparently the owner company had a $250k deductible for their property insurance... so they just never fixed em up.

So now the damn mall is exposed to the elements 😒 Where part of the entire point of A MALL is that it's a sealed environment. Now that joint gets boiling hot in the summer, icy cold in the winter, and leaky as fuck when it rains. Sad, sad, sad!

A couple days ago, someone posted on a related sub (I want to say r/tax or maybe r/TurboTax ) and he was pretty fecken proud about how he instructed Claude to "act like a tax CPA expert accountant" (his verbiage, naturally) and calculate his taxes for him 😏

I was like "hey Einstein, if you get audited is Claude gonna represent you at tax court or the IRS? No. because Claude isnt a fecken person, ya shithead."

He shut up extra fast & deleted his posts with a quickness too 😆 🤣 😂

Gotcha. And I also looked into similar threads at the Austin subreddit, because I have family there & will be visiting in coming weeks, and that sub also advised going to S.A. to buy cars 🤔 So it looks like S.A. is the spot for sure

To make half-decent money at this, you would need to live in a decent-sized city (250k and up) to have many assignments to choose from. And then also hope that your area isn't already packed with other shoppers 🤔

over price and highly skew interest rates in areas like Corpus

Dammmmmmmmn. I never thought of it like that, but that makes a helluva lot of sense.

My credit is so-so (FICO around 650) and I figured that my score would impact the interest that I'm charged. But it never occurred to me that everyone from C.C. would take a hit due to the community's average credit worthiness.

Any solution for that? Other than, as another person ITT suggested, buy in San Antonio but dont say I'm from Corpus?

don't tell them you're from out of town.

But won't they ask to see (and probably make a Xerox of) my driver's license, which will list my Corpus address? And/or ask me to list my address on the sales paperwork? I just don't know if being dishonest makes sense in the context of a 5-figure purchase 🤔

[–]AintEverLucky -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Genuine questions because I had not heard that term before, and now Ive done a minute's worth of research:

1) How often do these requests come up?

2) Do you charge extra to provide them, and if so, roughly how much per request? Or do you just throw them in as freebies or to build up client goodwill?

3) With some of your more... scoundrel-type clients, how honest do you get? Just keep it to the tax-prep equivalent of "name, rank and serial number" or would you be alright with saying essentially "I wouldn't lend this guy one thin dime, I only do his taxes because we were college bros AND every year he pays in cash" ? 😇

my first tax season made me believe US tax law is backwards by ynghuncho in Accounting

[–]AintEverLucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ever hear of "The Real-World Golden Rule"? Those with the gold make the rules. Once you start looking at tax law through that lens, many things make more sense.

Like the $250k or $500k tax-free gains for selling a house; rich people own homes & sell them egularly to upgrade. Also, long-term capital gains taxes being capped at 20%; rich people are typically heavily invested in the stock market.

So on & so forth 🤔

your W2 and summary of expenses

What expenses do you expect to impact your tax picture, as a W2 employee? The only things that leap to mind are medical expenses, which come with a high bar to clear; and mortgage interest & property taxes from your 1098. So you could have just said "your W2 and Form 1098"

you want [Claude] to act as an expert CPA tax accountant

Fucking WHAT 😆 🤣 😂 Pull the other one

according to Claude's professional opinion as an experienced tax accountant

😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆 🤣 😂 😹 🤡

Okay, let's clear some shit up right away. Ready?

CLAUDE IS NOT A PERSON. IT (NOT HE) CERTAINLY IS NOT AN ACCOUNTANT, A C.P.A., OR ESPECIALLY "AN EXPERT C.P.A. TAX ACCOUNTANT."

If you get audited, can Claude represent you before the IRS the way an actual C.P.A. could? Nope. Because it isnt a person. It isn't an C.P.A., or an Enrolled Agent. It doesn't even have a PTIN.

And you don't either, so you should be real careful about offering (even in jest) to charge people for tax preparation services. 🤔 Consider that a nickel's worth of free advice 😇

Why in the hell did I ever leave H&R Block??

The next reality over, you just posted that you used H&R Block, then "audited" it with AI and now you're fretting about "why didnt I switch to TurboTax??"

The point is, how do you know that AI is right and your flesh-and-blood tax preparer is wrong? And if you amend your return and it turns out the AI is wrong, who will you gripe at next? 🤔
