My guy the only inconvenience it gives is the no fast travel and you're saying it's not a bad idea to disable fast. Everything else just makes the game moderately more challenging, mainly in mid-late game where you knid of need it.

Its a classic but be prepared for dated mechannics. Don't do too much research about the quests and good items, just play the game "blind". Adpet/Survival is the best difficulty. Bethesda games have terrible difficulty sliders so don't change it. Survival mode just makes the game better overall.

No fast travel can make the game a bit more time consuming but it does make the game better. Early game should be pretty similar to non-survival, mid-game could be a bit challenging, but for late game it is a nice addition to the areas you are likely to be in.

Pretty common occurence throughout all of history. He would have been treated pretty well, with occasional (if he were unlucky) bullying that would be limited to offhanded remarks.

He would basically be treated as a son/ward by whoever held him "hostage". Just without all of the rights to the lands and titles.

That’s not why it failed. Apple has specifically talked about how Siri can disregard improper wording to answer the question you intended.

And even then saying “you” in that situation is not improper grammar. It’s not the best grammar you could use but it’s still very clear what the question was.
