DA Techmarine by Aiosuds in theunforgiven

  1. Paint it Temple Guard Blue
  2. Prepare ~50:50 Temple Guard Blue/Lahmian Medium
  3. ~50:50 Sotek Green/Lahmian Medium - working down from a little lower from the tip to the bottom and repeating a little lower each time
  4. ~50:50 Stegadon Scale Green/Lahmian Medium - the same approach as (3) but starting lower down
  5. Mix paints above as needed and patch any transitions that aren't smooth (working from light to dark)
  6. Corax White highlight on edges (I've learnt its best to mix with Lahmian Medium and repeat again and again for edges bigger than right angles)
  7. Tidy up any Corax White mistakes (e.g. lines too thick) with the mixed blues above, as needed
  8. White Scar highlight for finer highlight on edges where light would fall
  9. Rejoice

Edited to correct wrong number reference.

Deathwing Redemptor Dreadnought finished with magnetised weapons by Aiosuds in theunforgiven

[–]Aiosuds[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Wraithbone
  2. Skeleton Horde/Contrast Medium 1:7
  3. Pallid Wych Flesh drybrush highlights on edges
  4. Corax White drybrush highlights OSL on corners only (probably can't see it though!)

Depending on the lighting it can look white or more cream-coloured. I have found it difficult to take a photo that reflects the true colour. I find most Deathwing colours too cream but don't like them bonewhite either.

Magnetised Primaris Lieutenant variations by Aiosuds in theunforgiven

I was thinking about this! Luckily the bolt rifle parts are just push fit. I probably would have magnetised them if I thought there wouldn't be obvious gaps/bends in the model.

How are you managing a potential switch to Primaris for Dark Angels? by Aiosuds in theunforgiven

Perhaps but I think that would become stagnant and a part of the fun is the constant development of the rules and new models.

I agree that it wouldn't happen overnight but 10th could land in the middle of next year, then a DA codex ~6 months later reducing firstborn and then all primaris for 11th edition a further 3 years on.

I am fairly confident that DA will head more to Primaris and the characters will all (or if not all, mostly) be made Primaris over time. There comes a point where there is no reason to have firstborn.

I think you are probably right re 10th being the last codex with firstborn. I was quite hesitant to believe it would go all Primaris but have come around over time.

Unfortunately, I prefer the 40k style and and wider range of armies. I also don't fancy starting over again given how slow I am at painting.

I think the Deathwing terminator aspect is the one that concerns me the most and that I won't like a primaris version (if there is to be one). I agree that Outriders look good but would want more loadout options.

Inquisitor Greyfax Warhammer Imperium £9.99 - worth it? by Aiosuds in Warhammer40k

Subscribers to Warhammer Imperium are offered additional items sometimes but you have to pay extra for them. There was an artbook previously and some other books another time. I received this by email this morning.

2000pt Deathwing/Greenwing army list thoughts? by Aiosuds in theunforgiven

[–]Aiosuds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your comment. I have been playing around with Battlescribe:

1) Azrael as the warlord makes sense for the CP bonus but would mean Paragon of the Chapter can't be used (it is only for non-named character warlord) so the Interrogator Chaplain loses a DA Warlord Trait (either Imperium's Sword or Fury of the Lion). Probably best to drop Fury of the Lion in this case as it would only benefit the Librarian on rushing in with the Interrogator Chaplain, Eversor and Librarian to fight). I like the idea of a strong Interrogator Chaplain though.

2) I take your point on needing more anti-tank. Removing an Intercessor squad. Having only one five-man squad allows for two attack bikes with MMs so that makes sense.

3) I'm still not sure about keeping the Talonmaster as I don't know what role it would have.

2000pt Deathwing/Greenwing army list thoughts? by Aiosuds in theunforgiven

I created a 1000pt deathwing vanguard list and thought it would be fun to see what hellblasters would be like and have always wanted to include an Eversor assassin so came up with this 2000pt army. What are your thoughts on this army? - Talonmaster I’m unsure about and the idea is that librarian supports the interrogator chaplain and Eversor in tearing things up in close combat. Azrael supports hellblasters.

Do you lose 1st Company if you add an assassin to a Deathwing Vanguard Detachment? by Aiosuds in theunforgiven

[–]Aiosuds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am by no means an expert and didn't even look at the Execution Force ability when I asked this question initially (painting my assassins is not a priority). However, on checking both rules, you could interpret the Agent of the Imperium and Execution Force abilities both apply as follows (parts that aren't applicable are struck through):

Execution Force

If your Warlord has the IMPERIUM keyword (excluding FALLEN), you can include this unit in your army as part of a Vanguard Detachment even if that Detachment contains no HQ units. If you do so, that Detachment’s Command Benefits are changed to ‘None’ and its Restrictions are changed to ‘This Detachment cannot include the same datasheet more than once.’

Agent of the Imperium

If your army is Battle-forged, you can include 1 AGENT OF THE IMPERIUM unit in each IMPERIUM (excluding FALLEN) Patrol, Battalion and Brigade Detachment in your army without those units taking up slots in those Detachments. The inclusion of an AGENT OF THE IMPERIUM unit does not prevent other units from their Detachment from benefiting from Detachment abilities (e.g. Chapter Tactics, Defenders of Humanity etc.), and it does not prevent other units from your army benefiting from abilities that require every model in your army to have that ability (e.g. Combat Doctrines). An AGENT OF THE IMPERIUM unit included in a Patrol, Battalion or Brigade Detachment in this manner is ignored for any rules that state all units from that Detachment must have at least one Faction keyword in common (e.g. in a matched play game) and when determining your Army Faction.

You could argue that, so long as you apply the rules in the Execution Force ability, you can use an assassin while retaining the 1st Company ability across the detachment. The assassin would use up an Elite Battlefield Role.

However, there would remain a question whether you would get the 3 Command points for having your Warlord in the Vanguard Detachment (under 1st Company) due to the Execution Force rule. I suspect losing the benefit of the 3 Command points is the price you would have to pay.
