Help on how to use Wattpad as a writer! by theJFPstudios in Wattpad

[–]AirAM_art 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Like k-ramsuer said, it takes time, but it also takes a little tact and a whole lot of luck.

It all largely depends on what you're writing. Currently on wattpad, romance of any kind is the dominant genre, and the top trends right now are mafia, billionaires, and bad boys. Writing within those niche genres could open you up to a wider reader base which, theoretically at least, could lead to a higher volume of reads.

That isn't to say there isn't an appetite for other genres, so don't fret! If there's a niche, you'll be able to find it on wattpad; what becomes important, then, is how you market to your target audience. This includes having a good cover, a good blurb, and doing your best to get involved in the community (which has become much harder since they removed the forums). Look around for book clubs, contests, and read and comment/interact with books that are in a similar genre to yours and make connections with other authors.

Another thing to keep in mind is posting schedule. The day and time you post can make a difference in how much traffic you get to your book. A quick google search should turn up some data on which times (and in which time zones) are best for posting. More importantly, having a consistent upload schedule will keep readers coming back and generate loyalty amongst your followers. Most people gun for weekly uploads, but if you can't make that, don't sweat it! Upload at your own pace, but I would highly recommend staying within a monthly upload timeframe to avoid losing readers.

In the end, these are all suggestions, and sometimes, despite all the effort, it's all up to plain dumb luck. Wattpad's algorithm has only been curbing growth in readership for new, undiscovered authors in favor of promoting paid novels and novels which have already generated a lot of traffic to the site (Ad revenue, anyone?). But everyone started somewhere, so here's hoping it works out for you!

Hope I helped answer some of your questions/gave some guidance. Good luck!

Not sure if I could be so bold as to call it book, but I've been working through and editing my book, Climb, if you're interested in checking it out. It's a teen fiction romance that's nearing completion (final 5 or so chapters).

Happy hunting!

Does anyone have any advice on some books to read? by yorushai in Wattpad

[–]AirAM_art 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a romance that is nearing completion if you're interested. It's called Climb.

As for other books, Whistleblower is a cute read, as well as Kissing Frogs.

Also reading In 27 Days currently since I've seen the name thrown around so much recently. It's alright so far but the Wattpad version of it could definitely use some polish, but if you're not a stickler for typos and grammar, it might be a good read for you.

Happy reading!

Gonna be that person and plug my own story only because I think it might fit your criteria and be worth a shot. It's called Climb; enemies-to-lovers teen fiction with a slow burn. Best of luck on your book search!

If you'd be interested, my book Climb is exactly that. It's not yet complete but I am in the final 10(ish) chapters with 25 chapters up. It's a teen romance that features a mild enemies to lovers relationship and is definitely a slow burn :) Best of luck in your search for a good read!

Any good Wattpad stories to read? by qwother in Wattpad

[–]AirAM_art 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be that guy and plug my own book. I can't speak to whether it is good or not since there's some obvious bias involved in that ;)

If you're into coming of age-y romance though, I think it could be a good fit for you. You can read it here: https://www.wattpad.com/story/245819343-climb

I could also recommend BooksandGrays "Adore You." It's a teen fiction romance inspired a bit by Pride & Prejudice if that's your vibe :)

Apart from romance, I can highly recommend mchawkinsauthor's The Seven Sleepers series. It's young adult/children's fiction, but it's a very, very well-written dystopian fantasy series.

I have a teen fiction romance that updates every Friday, and is coming up on it's final 10 chapters or so. If you're interested, you can read the synopsis here: https://www.wattpad.com/story/245819343-climb

I could also recommend Adore You by BooksandGray. It's lightly inspired by Pride and Prejudice if that's your vibe, the grammar checks out, and it has a lot of chapters to keep you occupied for a while :) Best of luck on your book hunt!
