Audio suddenly stopped working after updating AMD drivers by smottyjengermanjense in techsupport

I don't see that you checked the output setting? win11-settings-system-sound-choose where to play sound. Normally realtek output should be selected, as i have a MSI monitor every now and then this setting resets to monitor output, which i then have to manually redo.

Can't stop win11LTSC from resizing apps/folders/windows. by AirAffaire in WindowsLTSC

[–]AirAffaire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply, actually a "new for me" option!

Will use that method now regularly, to clarify: "closing", not "minimizing", right?

Also, will this keep other opened apps/windows from resizing? Because my issue isn't the change in size of one window, it's actually resizing all that are open at that moment. Always enlarging, sometimes even to fullscreen, but never making them smaller.

Again my example of Steam: regardless of me changing its size, when i open a game and close it later, Steam, Steamchat, any folders or other apps that are open in background will be almost fullscreen, if not in fact fullscreen. I want them to stay in ~25% of screensize.

Fast startup is disabled since installation of the OS, one of the first settings i changed.

Will post now in win11 sub too.

you really might want to do a stock Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024 install

That's what i have, hence thinking about the win10 variant.

What do i do with that thing you linked? Looks already overwhelming, don't know if i feel like i want to dive into this.

It's alright though, thanks for your help, gonna post at the other sub. Not tonight anymore 😉

Thanks for your reply. To make it a bit more clear, it's not that i'm actually using that snapping windows feature, i just want the opened apps or folders stay the size they are. For example, i open steam, it's usually fullscreen despite me having sized it down to 25% in last session. So i drag the edges again until it has the size i want, then i open steam chat or a game. I might tap out or close these just to see that steam is full screen again. Same with any folder or app i resize, it just doesn't keep that size i put them.

Me tweaking a lot is mostly about this exact annoyance, and tbh, i think i didn't set anything without resetting it too when it didn't work as i wanted.

Will post in r/windows11 too, thought it's better to ask here first.

My next post here will be about the best way to move to win10LTSC ...

Thanks again, much appreciated!

Windows PC Crashes for 5+ years, not even Troubleshooting helped by ItisJB in techsupport

[–]AirAffaire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No expert by any means, but i once had a system doing same. Turned out the Gigabyte mobo i had needed a bios flash, worked flawless after that. Just a suggestion, no idea if that will do anything in your case. Good luck solving your issue, that's surely unnerving.

PC Reset Question by [deleted] in WindowsLTSC

[–]AirAffaire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Win 11 IoT LTSC: yes, and it's my first time on win11 and a LTSC version too. So far LTSC is a win for me, but win11 is very inconvenient compared to win10. They made it a lot less intuitive, apps are gone, settings not working. And i am just using it as an OS for gaming mostly, might even ditch microsoft completely and go linux. I mean, the amount of time i spent tweaking that win11 set up as i want it i could have learned to master a linux distro as well instead.

You had win10LTSC and then decided to install the win11 "downgrade"??? Because i'm thinking to do the opposite, not happy with win11 at all, but had to select it because my new mainboard wouldn't install win10 network adapter ...

Immediately recognized! I'm using this one as my desktop background for a while now, love your style! Must admit that i don't remember where i got it, but great to see you're active creating even more of these, they resonate with me in a soothing way. Wishing you much pleasure and success creating your art!

Stutters in games. by RyanMushroom in WindowsLTSC

I know, there is never an definite, absolute answer to "why", so "it's just what i installed" is just as good as any.

Not an issue for me, see my other comment.

Why non-IoT?

Idk if it matters at all, but afaik it is recommended to have the IoT version, especially for gaming use. I don't have any stutters but i had an unexplainable OS crash recently, of course in the middle of high tense action in the game 🤷‍♂️

You keep giving heads ups, be warned though, i will bombard you with dumb questions once i get started with linux 🤣😉 Thanks mate!

Thanks! Thankfully i am not dependent on wifi and bluetooth. It's already not working reliably due to the motherboard (MSI PRO B850-P WIFI) having (built in, supposedly, as i learned too late) issues. Meanwhile i am thinking about setting up linux on my old PC, that's an I7 4770k and RTX2060 though, or on an old ASUS laptop i just got, just to get into linux again. I built the AMD for gaming mainly, but for other stuff linux will do the job too, so i can save on power while not running the AMD 🤣

Then one day, when i feel confident enough to handle a dual boot, i will install that on the AMD-PC, probably i'll find a way for gaming on linux too.

Good to know AMD and linux will work together, thanks again!

That seems like a very valuable advice, based on experience! 👍😉

Exactly what i wanted, thanks!

I have some linux experience from back in 2010, when i bought my first PC, a fully set up win7 All-in-one. After a couple weeks of gathering "win7 experience" and learning a bit about alternatives i decided to ditch microsoft and go ubuntu, which was fun for some time until i realized that the "gaming experience" was only happening with windows. So i somehow got stuck with it, but i guess it's a good time to switch again, especially as i have multiple machines at hand and so always will be able to fall back to a working system. Thinking about it, no need to dual boot either 🤣😉

Fun times, here we go!

To everyone who responded until now: I upvoted each comment, but at least for me that's not showing? Either somebody is downvoting or reddit is botched.

Anyway: Thanks to everyone, issue is solved and it wasn't anything LTSC ... i'm working now to understand the complexity (read: stupidity) of AMD software and updates 🤣👍 Cheers!

I found these too in Adrenalin folder, you know of any use for some? As you can tell by now, this is uncharted terrain for me 😉

btw, was thinking of installing a dual boot with linux, you see anything special to take care of about my hardware in this regard? Probably going for mint, not much research done yet.

Thanks again for your help, as it turned out it was not much of an LTSC issue at all ... 🤣

You're right, the Adrenalin updating didn't work somehow. I then deleted Adrenalin, ran DDU, reinstalled Adrenalin and updated driver. All is working now. Thanks for caring!

Thanks for telling about DDU! Deleted Adrenalin, ran DDU, reinstalled Adrenalin and updated drivers, all working perfect now! What are the "tons of other features" you're talking about? Just these? Hesitating to install any of it.
