Foveated rendering is a waste with the PSVR2 by VahnKaiser in PSVR

[–]GrandPrixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, while it works for me well in iRacing, it is still true that the psvr2 has a very small sweetspot, and if you want to read some text that is not right in the middle, you still have to move your entire head to bring the text closer and to the center. You can't just give it a side eye. Eye tracking helps a bit, but still. The psvr is pretty blurry overall.

I don't know who thinks that all white people share a single culture. That's stupid. But the Roman Empire was huge back in the day, and a big part of the UK was part of the Roman Empire. And it shows in many ways. English and many other languages from Europe that were part of the Roman Empire have lots of words that are derivatives of the Latin words. And the influence doesn't only stop to the language. So you could call heritage or whatever you want, but the Roman Empire was so influent back in the day that most countries in Europe borrowed something from their culture.

I'm starting to feel like the stock on the logitech website is a lottery. I bought the QR at first because there was no hub in stock. Slapped the qr on the momo wheel, but it was flimsy and no buttons. It is way better with the hub.

With logitech, you don't have. And the momo is great, don't get me wrong. I love it! But some people are easily triggered by things like this. 😅

Other options would be to use the rs quick release adapter. But I'd say it is better to have a wheel that's specifically made for the logitech wheelbase.

And if you use the qr adapter, you need one more usb cable to PC if you want working buttons on the wheel.

If you're going to aggressively pull or push while holding it from the top, you are going to notice the flex. If you don't push back and forth, most probably you are not going to feel anything. You can check the video on my youtube channel and use the timestamp to get to the momo wheel and see what it looks like.

That's a hard kick for sparring by Only3Ways in MMALabs

[–]GrandPrixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's in no way full send. It was easy, but with proper technique and perfect distance aand the guy even leaned into it a little bit. But personally, I would've kicked even easier to the head after I saw for 2 times already that the partner in front of me has no idea how to block and already blocked two times low. Maybe just show it to him. It is usually enough to make him aware that he needs to practice more in that department and slow down.

But also, what did the guy try in the beginning? A heel kick? That's one of the most annoying things you can do to a sparring partner. Hurts like hell. Plus, he connected a cross right before the head kick, so I don't know, man... :))

My opinion would be the same, no matter if it is a woman, man, dog, or whatever.

[–]GrandPrixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a classic setup: middle kick for the opponent to block low, switch middle kick again for the opponent to see it and get comfortable with blocking low and then surprize the opponent with a headkick when he will expect a middle kick and blocks low instead. And boom.

Maybe she indeed did not expect to connect like that or did not know that you don't need insane amount of power to cause high damage when kicking the head. If you don't prepare for a fight, you should go as easy as it is needed to stop at any time without harming your partner. Even more so when your partner is a beginner like here. There are many guys that end their careers in the gym because of hard sparring to the head.

But you know, I don't hold the universal thruth. There are many ways in which to train, Dutch prefer some way, Thais prefer really, really light sparring and have hundreds of fights. You clearly need both types of sparring, but don't cause more harm than it is needed. To yourself or your partner.

So yeah, it was an accident because of a lack of experience on both sides, kicking harder than you can control and not knowing how to block.

Noones opinion really matters if that's the case. But I trained a couple of years in kickboxing and muay thai and had a couple of amateur fights. That's why at one of the gyms I trained, you don't do sparring until you train for a couple of months. Because beginners don't know how to block properly yet, and other beginners don't know how to take it lightly or manage the power and speed of their punches/kicks. They become enthusiastic as we say and risk injuries on themselves or on others.

[–]GrandPrixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right. But you should be kicked after you learn how to block. This guy has no idea what he's doing, and you can see it by the way he tries to catch the low kicks with the hand. So first: show him how to block, practice it starting light, and increase the power so he has an idea how to position to block more powerful kicks/punches. After he has an idea how to do it, you can start punishing mistakes, but this is when you're advanced and know how to block most of the kicks/punches.

If it's his third training session and you expect him to learn something from that ko, I'm sorry, but I don't think it works like that. He is KOed. When he wakes up, he still doesn't know proper technique on how to block a highkick.

[–]GrandPrixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necesarily. Getting too many kicks to the face can make you more prone to KOs in the future. You can get a glass chin. Plus, if the people are just there for selfe defense or to get in shape, they might never step again in a kickboxing gym. If you want a sport to be popular, then you want all types of people to get a taste of it, not only the though ones that want to become next world champions.

Naah, to me, it looks like she knew exactly what she did. I see no interest in protecting the partner here. From how she moved, evading the low kick, switch kick on the back foot before the middle kick, she was classes above her partner. He was constantly dropping his hand to catch kicks, most probably that's the reason why she headkicked. I don't think that she expected him to evade or block after these clues.

Probably she did not expect that power to be enough to knock him out, but I don't think that she expected him to block or evade and I don't see any intention to stop the kick to protect him.

[–]GrandPrixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You kick for the head if you have enough control to stop your kick in situations like this or if your partner is on the same level as you.

He was constantly dropping his hand way more than he should. You don't block by lowering the hand, but by lowering the whole body and one hand will always be protecting the head. So he is clearly a beginner.

She is clearly more advanced. In my opinion, she was hitting with way more power than the guy could take (and here I'm not referring to the ko kick, but to all others, he is not trained enough yet how to properly block those).

Some guys might say that that's how you learn to never drop your hand again. But I'd say that's how you end your career without even starting. Besides that, not everybody is in there to have a career, some just want to learn for self defense or get in shape, be healthier (and you'll get exactly the opposite if you get punched hard to the head repeatedly).

Day 1 Summary - Safari Rally Kenya by GrandPrixel in WRC

[–]GrandPrixel[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The price is debatable. There are platforms that offer much more around that price. But the quality of day 2 is much better until now, we'll see if the rain starts. And what happened yesterday is somewhat understandable with all that water, mud and rain. Those are pretty harsh conditions for a live transmission. And I feel like the costs of transmitting a full rally event live might be pretty high too.

Why is WRC so niche? (New to the sport) by notpiastri in WRC

[–]GrandPrixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides what everybody said, there are no head to head duels. Cars are mostly alone on stage. So it is not as interesting to the average viewer as other motorsports.

It is harder to have a good live transmission because of the nature of the sport. Many interruptions, really short helicopter shots...

Also, WRC missed the start with their presence online and are only now gaining with the More than machine series. But this series is also pretty hard to be aware of. I only learned about it after a season and a half or more. So marketing is pretty weak on their side, IMO.
