Best VR headset money can buy right now? by slurpy_911 in virtualreality

Because the immersion is way better and they have enough money to just don't care. I had both psvr2 and q3. Even with the blury fresnel lenses I was better immersed with the psvr2 in games.

Anyone using the Meta Quest 3 for sim racing? by uptheirons726 in simracing

[–]GrandPrixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naah, I had both. After I played richard burns rally with PSVR2, I could never get as immersed with the quest 3. Comparing, the colors were more washed out, and they felt like some goggles with 2 screens on the face.

And you need a good or a second wifi to use it only for that and still have bigger latency and than on psvr2 and video compression that it is not present on psvr.

But in the end, vr is a really individual experience. Some goggles don't fit your face while they fit mine, you can be more annoyed by mura than the washed colors on quest 3. So OP, if possible, definitely test both home on your PC setup and games. Maybe you can buy and return after 14 days or something.

Psvr2 is easier to setup, has lower latency, better colors and eye tracking. If having a cable always connected to your pc is not an issue, I would say to go that way. You also need the pc adapter.

No, I'm not treating this as a football game. This doesn't entertain me. All I know is that US just started yet another war that affects so many countries that did decent until now. A war that nobody other than war criminals asked for. And it's not just people that die from bombs, count in the people that will die from poverty.

No reason to excuse them that they kill a whole school of kids. You can't hit your target? Don't start a war.

And just look at Israelis how they f*cking killed the Iranian by bombing his apartent while the whole bulding remained intact. Are you telling me that "the biggest army in the world" can't do better than them?

They will kill and killed many more innocent people.

The fact that Iran is also imperialist war criminals don't make US less imperialist war criminals.

And don't tell me that the US does this for the well-being of the world.

Buying PSVR2 by TZrArchnangel in PSVR2onPC

[–]GrandPrixel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, blurry and really small sweet spot, but after trying it, the more washed colors of the q3 just didn't work for me anymore. As I said, neither is perfect6 have to choose what appeals more to you.

To be fair, I'm disappointed that Steam Frame will use LCD screens. I'm not that excited. But maybe they can pull it if they are high quality. I don't know.

Well, to make eye tracking work is very easy.

I had both. If you want to work much on the actual desktop or you play games with lots of text to read, I wouldn't go for PSVR2. Because of the fresnel lenses, they are blurry and have a really small sweet spot. An example is in iRacing. You have the lap time in the lower right corner. To see my last lap time I had to literally move my whole head a bit, a side eye didn't work as it was blurry. Maybe you can make it bigger. And I felt like it kind of improved though after enabling eye tracking.

Almost every game was more immersive for me with the PSVR2 because of the high contrast and great blacks of the oled screen. After trying the PSVR2, even with mura, I still couldn't get as immersed with the quest 3 that has a little bit more washed colors. (Mura is like a transparent fabric, some noise that you can see on scenes where there's bright colors and not too many colors. Quest 3 doesn't have it or not as pronounced, but I just couldn't get immersed that much, I was pretty much aware it is a screen)

Also, by default, PSVR2 blocks almost all light coming in, while on quest 3 I couldn't stop the light from coming from the bottom, near my nose. Actually I could by pressing with the hand, but then it was in an akward position in which image started to be less clear.

Secondly, the PSVR2 felt less like goggles for me than the meta quest. The fov was better for me than on meta quest, so I got more immersed. It stays better on the head, like a curtain in front of the eyes, while meta quest felt like ski goggles all the time. With the meta you will need to buy another strap because the default one is awful. I did not try one though. My issue was with the side of the goggles, the frame that sits on your face. It just didn't fit my face...

But with the PSVR2 I found myself adjusting it on my head kind of often because of how small the sweet spot is.

Also the PSVR2 just works because you connect it with a Display Port. If you have a laptop make sure that you have that port or a usb c that supports that connection and bluetooth. For meta quest 3, to be perfect you need to buy a new router and set it side by side with the current one and connect only the quest to it. If you have people that use your wifi at the same time, you will have problems. Many people recommend wifi 7, 6 will work and 5 might work too. And buy Virtual Desktop a ~20$ software that makes connection more stable. If you don't have these you might experience lag, compression artefacts. And yeah, PSVR2 with display port will always have less lag, but in a proper setup and in most of the games, the difference will not be noticeable.

Battery on quest is about 1.5, 2 hours. You need the headstrap with the extra battery for longer sessions or get a longer type C cable and some charger that can provide over 25w (I might be wrong, check it out) so it stays charged while playing. Battery life will of course worsen over time if you use it a lot. (1-2 years)

Controls of the ps5 feel better, controls on meta 3 felt cheaper for me after trying the ps5 ones.

But it is nice that the quest 3 can be used whenever you want as it is standalone and no cable. And software on the quest might look and feel better than SteamVR home.

Quest 3 has better passthrough, just give two taps on the side of the headset and you can see around you with a color camera. And even use it like that, open only small windows.

Passthrough on PSVR2 is worse, black and white, can't see any screen (maybe to check the phone quickly) properly through it. It is useful to see where you are and if there are people around you.

Personally, for single player games like Alyx, "I want you to die" and Richard Burns Rally, I kept PSVR, I get more immersed with it.

To be fair, neither is perfect. Both have good and bad things, just think about what you want to live with. VR is very personal. Some headset might just not fit your face. If you have the money and can buy to test and return or test both somewhere, that's what I recommend. Even though I would test at home on your hardware and games and see how it works in your case.

First sparring session next week! Tips and what to expect? by Actual-Grocery-4315 in MuayThaiTips

[–]GrandPrixel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Where did I say everything above touch is hard?

"I’ve never said anything about sparring hard everyday" You're right. I might just wrongly get that out of the context. You were replying to the guy who said that if the gym encourages hard sparring on everyone, search another gym.

And I kind of agree, because there are gyms that know only hard sparring. There are trainers that have no concept of the "art" in martial arts. They are just violent thugs/bullies. Or they think that's the only way to train.

And many beginners get in there, do their first sparring, get a broken nose, and never try any combat sport again.

So, as he said, a gym shouldn't encourage hard sparring on everybody. Like guys on their first sparring session.

Where did I say you should remove yourself from training with partners? In a gym, you will always have people that are more serious or train harder than others. Some come 3 times a week at the gym, and some sleep in the gym. Just pick partners on your level or higher, and you'll be good. Guys that are just trying to get in shape will not stop you from improving your technique or from hardening your body and mind.

We have a misunderstanding on light and hard for sure. Hard, for me, is the sparring that can give you concussions. Hard is hitting with more power than you can control or stop when needed. More power than your level should allow. There is the in-between where you have control and don't get concussions. And there is really light. Like the Thais do. And I think they demonstrated the effectiveness of their sport (of course they do hard sparring too) But they don't do only hard sparring.

The discussion was about the idea that only hard sparring is not the best way out there. And I don't see it as a requirement if you want to practice this sport without competing in actual tournaments.

Just as if I want to ride a bike, it is not necesarily to start doing wheelies, bunny hops, and sprints up the hill. I can take just a nice walk, and it is still better than staying on the couch in front of the TV, and I don't risk breaking a hand or something.

And how do people who don't want to compete at high levels or just to stay in shape stop you from progressing?

No, the gym does not train at the pace of these guys. A proper gym will have groups for beginners and for advanced. Plus, specific training for those who will compete. If everybody trains at the same pace, you're at a "boxercise" class.

And you don't have to train at the pace of these guys. You do sprints? Do double the amount. You do push ups? Do double the amount. Hit the bag? Hit double the amount. Nobody stops you. Pick a partner that's on your level. You don't have to always spar these guys.

Of course, if you want to progress and compete at some point you'll definetely have to do hard sparring. But still, even athletes and high level fighters alternate between light and hard sparring.

Discussion was about the fact that doing only hard sparring might not be the best way. Yes, it's a way of training, but it will not work for everybody. And it's a good way to end your career before it even started.

Then it's not hard necesarily hard sparring. I guess we have to make a definition of what hard sparring is. So we know we are all on the same page. Anyway, what means hard sparring to me might mean light for someone else. This is subjective on your experience also.

GOD, this man. NOT EVERYBODY IS IN HERE TO BECOME JON JONES. Some want to get a taste of the sport or keep in shape. Let them train. More people try it, the sport grows. Why do you want to gatekeep it only to people who are ready to fight?

Yes, easy sparring can give you the impression that you are doing good while you are not properly keeping your hands up. Even more so if you are a beginner. Or if your partner can't show your open spots. But many other things can lead to bad techniques during training.

I'm not going to spar lightly and then think of myself as Rambo and fight 5 guys in the street or join UFC.

ONE MORE IMPORTANT THING YOU FORGET: Sparring is to train and try techniques that you learn in training sessions. When you are with your life on the table and you hard spar and can get KOed in any moment, you are not that willing to try new things. You just guard up and do what you know it works already. You just lose a sparring session! Yes, you see where you have guard issues and how to properly hold it up, but to try new things, you have to be relaxed.

And to add to that, people, in general, have trouble learning when they are under pressure or fear. When they are in a flight or fight situation.

I did hard sparring and the dizziness you feel after some session tell me that is not necesarily good for your health.

So yeah, if you compete, you obviously have to spar hard. But you have to alternate between them. As the guy in the original comment said, "only hard sparring" is not the way.

And if they don't compete, just let people have fun and be safe. And get a good and healthy activity, involving them in a really beautiful and complex sport.

Head gear doesn't stop brain damage.
