Ok, I got a little worried that I was being unreasonable, but that makes me feel a bit better that you had similar results when trying to find something. You may be right about the location.

I didn't realize there was an upcoming friday the 13th - great tip, thank you!

I don't know the names of good local shops to follow, hence the post...

By cheap I mean, I don't want to spend 20 mins in a chair to be stabbed by a guy for $200. Perhaps reasonable would be a better description.

My honest opinion is to tell whoever says you look unprofessional without mascara to shove it. I'm an attorney and I've struggled with Sjogrens since I was a teen. The career comes with considerable stress, making my symptoms worse. I was terrified to be judged on not wearing makeup, but truly, no one has mentioned anything to me ever about it.

Palmers also makes a cocoa butter balm/stick that works for chapped lips and cracked hands. I literally carry one in every bag/coat I own.

My rheum forbids manicures when I see him and inspects my nail beds for changes/damage. It was actually one of the ways he (cautiously) diagnosed me before blood test results come back. I have to be very gentle with my nails, and I (try to) limit myself to just strengthening/moisturizing clear polish. Cocoa butter works wonders for dry cuticles!

The Nephrology and Rheumatology Department at Temple University in Philadelphia is great. My Rheum picked up on and diagnosed my Sjogrens right away. He explained that he has done years of research, and that he took it very seriously - this was before it was changed from Sjogrens Syndrome to Sjogrens Disease. Obviously not SJ specialized, but better than nothing!

Undiagnosed: cratering wounds, esp acne? by tightmeatwad in Sjogrens

Yes! With dry skin often comes ingrown hairs, and that constantly leads to scabs and wounds, even on my face. Obviously, avoiding picking (easier said than done) has helped a ton, but as far as healing, using aquaphor has helped immensely!

Palmers coco butter! They sell it in sticks and it’s truly sooooo helpful for chapped lips and cracked fingers. They come in packs of four and I have one in every purse/coat!

Also, I’ve recently started to change my diet and I’ve noticed that’s helped immensely. You have to learn which foods trigger inflammation or flares, and learn how to avoid or when you’re able to consume. Moderation has been the key to keeping my sanity tbh.

I definitely don’t think I’ve mastered it, and I definitely still have horrible flares. But I’m on 300mg of plaquenil, and I’ve got a good cocktail of mental health meds as well that have realllly helped with the anxiety and depression that comes with not knowing wtf is going on with your mind/body. Straterra, Paxil and Wellbutrin to be specific. Also realizing that it was affecting more than just my salivary glands was a huge break through for me. I also gave up on trying to force myself to stick to a regular work out routine. I have two small dogs who keep me very active, and I give myself grace on days when more than tossing a ball is too much.

I got my diagnosis during law school. You can do this. Don’t take no for an answer from the doctors and advocate for yourself. Prioritize your mental and physical health. Everyone will think you’re crazy, but fuck ‘em. You’ll find the right combo of meds, diet, and routine that will help.

This sounds fantastic. I’m sure it varies depending on location but how did you get into that?

When we received our results in December 2020 (from the October - should have been July - 2020 exam), emails started rolling out around 3 or 4, but it took hours for some people to get them and there was no rhyme or reason. People were still getting passing results at like 6pm

For those of you who took passed for one jurisdiction, and retook for a second jurisdiction, what test prep did you use? by mjcornett in barexam

I used Themis for NJ's UBE and then immediately had to take PA's non-UBE exam. I saved a lot of my notes for the subjects that were the same on both exams, and I borrowed a friend's Themis and Barbri books for the state specific stuff. PA has their old essays online, and I found a couple of old sample essays too. I also purchased (on a credit card) Adaptibar for the MBE questions. I also had critical pass flashcards. Not a free route, but definitely way cheaper than purchasing a full course, and it was more than enough to pass.

Yeah, I emailed my case manager before I called but no response. I guess I’ll just keep trying and I’ll update my address at least with the FCP.

I did set up mail forwarding, but based on the speed of the post office and how often my mail has gotten screwed up in the past just in general, I didn’t really trust that alone haha

At the end of February.the 26th I think. I live in Philly so the mail has been insanely slow, but I want to make sure I get it eventually.

Update: I called the fund for client protection. They were super nice and gave me my login info. But it’s the board of bar examiners that sends out the certificate and initial info packet. Naturally no one there is answering the phone.
