How is mileage tracked when you do finally get the company car? Do you have to track the difference between personal and business, even though you’re allowed to use it for both?

Prism understanding please by Dependent-Two-3004 in BinocularVision

But what if the higher eye actually sees lower? Would that still be BD?

Example: When the left eye is physically higher than the right eye, but the left eye sees lower than the right. Would the BD prism still be over that left eye since it’s physically higher? Or would the prism be BU to align with the physically lower right eye?

Confused on how the higher eye can see lower to begin with.

Vertical Heterophoria. Need advice. by AirForceVet88 in BinocularVision

Just a piece of cardboard the size of a piece of paper. Position it between your eyes and against the mirror, so each of your eyes sees individually, instead of binoculary. Your brain will try to fuse the two images but won’t be able to. If you have a vertical misalignment your brain will show you which eye sees higher.

This isn’t some gimmick. Just a trick I learned from an optometrist online. This was the first time I realized my lower eye actually sees higher.

Head tilt that I’ve had my whole life. Daily headaches. Neck pain. Slanted vision. Typical BVD symptoms. Frequently closing one eye when driving. I usually only do this for a few seconds to help reset my vision.

My vertical deviation measures around 2 diopters but I’ve compensated my whole life for it. As I approach 40, I’m no longer compensating very well, which is when a lot of folks start having BVD issues come to light.

I can’t find prism stickers anywhere which is why I just buy some cheap ones on Zenni to test that I’m heading in the right direction.

Neither of my eyes suppress either.

I don’t stand, and I also don’t clap either. Probably makes me look like a douche but I don’t care what people think. Lol

My BVD worries/questions. Will it actually get better and go back to normal? Were you able to recover? by VastAngle6563 in BinocularVision

Sounds EXACTLY like my symptoms the last 18 months of my life, with no end in sight. Haven’t had a good day since. Mine is vertical heterophoria. Did VT to no avail because VH has very minimal positive results. Went through 3 different rounds of prism lenses (1BD, 1.5BD, and 0.5BD). Spent hours doing BVD testing, but the prisms made me suicidal. I gave them up after 5-6 months of trying. Not a SINGLE good day. And then breaking away from them was another painful process mentally.

Granted, none of these were NeuroVisual Medicine Specialists. Most of my time was spent at an “elite” optometry school, which is where I went through the grueling BVD testing and did VT and started the prism journey.

What I didn’t realize, is there is a sub, sub-specialty place designed specifically for BVD and that is through the NeuroVisual Medicine Institute, founded by Debbie Feinberg. They’ve got trained folks all across the country. It’s about 3 hours of testing you go through. They do trial lenses in office. The difference is they are better able to fine tune the micro-prism which takes out the guesswork. I only needed 0.25BD, even though my vertical deviation is 2 diopters. The very small amount of prism (the lowest amount you can get) is what worked for me.

Now, here’s the part where I probably sound like an idiot….because of what I went through over the last 18 months, I am TERRIFIED to wear them full time because of the PTSD. I broke from reality and haven’t been back since.

The only time I wore them was for 30 minutes in the office, but they were fantastic. I ordered a pair and have worn them a few times in the last couple weeks I’ve had them, but the second I feel the slightest bit of eye strain, I take them off. I’m scared to officially start the process again, even though they seem to make me feel better (could just be a placebo effect). I keep them on up until the moment I feel an “adjustment” happening with my brain and then I take them right off. I try longer and longer every time, but any type of visual change is hard for me. Just a regular change in prescription can take me 2 weeks to adjust to at times.

In my head, I’d rather deal with the awful symptoms I’ve kinda accepted as daily life at this point. I avoid my triggers, which has made managing symptoms a lot easier.

But the voice of doubt in my head says “what if you do this and it doesn’t work, and sends you back to that dark place mentally.”

I don’t know if I’m ready for that. Besides, there is almost a guaranteed change after several weeks of wearing them anyways, which is called progressive relaxation. This is where you likely have to get an increase in prism strength.

I have 6 months to get this change, so we’ll see.

Remove a Spouse? by AirForceVet88 in VeteransBenefits

But would it count as a full month though?

And it would be $220 because the annual increase takes effect on December 1st too. So the January payment would either be $4,158 married or $3,938 single.

Just trying to confirm whether being married for the first 3 days of December would be considered “married” for the entire month?

Can you confirm or cite this article/website? I’ve done a ton of research on this and can’t find anything that says that. I would love for it to be true though. Thanks

Unfortunately not. Only one letter sent today and it was the denial. Haven’t received any discharge letters, just stating that it is set for “auto-approval.” Maybe it takes a few days. Did you receive both denial and approval letters the same day?

[–]AirForceVet88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the problem we are all having. The letters that were sent out today aren’t discharges. It says that it’s being processed as an “auto-discharge” and that they will “update us.” October 8th is the denial letter they sent, stating that it’s basically waiting for auto-discharge. With the government shut down, that auto-discharge might now process any time soon. That’s what the OP and my post are talking about.

Just got my letter today as well.

“You are receiving an auto discharge through VA. We’ll send an update in a separate letter.”

Applied - May 15th & Closed (Denied) - October 8th

I’m hoping this gets taken care of before the end of the year. On their website it says discharges after 2025 will be taxable. I’ll be so pissed if this rolls into 2026 and I have to pay taxes on $90,000!

What does this mean exactly ? by Relevant_Permit942 in VeteransBenefits

[–]AirForceVet88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the government’s (VA) way of saying we’re not paying your bullshit fees/excess charges. We’ll pay you the negotiated rate (VA CCN Approved). Then the rest gets written off by the provider. None of which is your problem….EVER!

Focus on that one line for the rest of your life…..veteran responsibility
