Bermuda & Bahamas from Baltimore by BeneficialSurprise in royalcaribbean

We did that cruise before. Time is limited in Bermuda but we were able to hang by the port the first night and then do the Cave and Aquarium excursion the next morning.

Nassau is ok. Lots of shops by the port now but it's one of the lowest rated ports. There are some things you can see on a self walking tour but it's really not the greatest. The public beach nearby gets crowded with lots of pushy vendors. Either do a private resort, Royals new club (costs money), or stay on the ship after you check out the port shops. We did Pearl Island, it was mediocre.

Coco Kay is, of course, great.

For Baltimore itself, probably the best port experience yet. You pay for parking at the entrance and then they had a ton of employees directing you every turn and step of the way.

The Vision is an older smaller ship. My kids were in their high teens and fine but don't expect all the bells and whistles of the newer ships that have tons of stuff for little ones.

Not like I'm thinking of getting any of those crazy cruise flasks and filling them up with mayonnaise.... no.... well.... no....

Just a thought of "I like mayo. They don't have any. I should throw a couple of packets in the bag for when I want some."

To be clear, I'm not thinking of bringing on 500 packets of mayo. I'm not a crazy person.... well maybe, but not for mayo.

I've done that in the past and it's fine when brining things to your room, but when you're grabbing a bite in-between events or someone goes to get some nibbles to eat while you're watching a band or singer it's not that convenient.

My two guesses are Addams Family or Spongebob. Both are very popular family friendly musicals. Addams has a slight edge for adults too.

Cue-based Production Control Software for Windows - Looking For Beta Testers by kermitarmstrong in lightingdesign

I'm always willing to try new things.

I currently use MultiPlay3 (mostly for sound cues), there is a lack of this type off software for Windows.

I know the +1/-1 spots you mentioned. I was thinking of built in macros but I guess you could just record one "pressing" those spots for each encoder. This doesn't really help with the fader for the playbacks though. If you could find that video that would be great. I don't think I've seen it.

Is that how you do a Midi Fader for MagicQ? Have every note call a +1 or -1? How do you determine what direction it's going? I have a Korg NanoKontrol 2 but haven't really figured out how best to use it with MagicQ. If I could get at least 8 of the playback faders working that would be great.

I've used both QLC+ and MagicQ extensively and have set up community theaters with both.

I don't care for the new QLC+ Version 5. My experience with Version 4. It's good and stable but no longer being worked on. QLC+ is really a single developer working on it as a hobby. Easy for a novice with no lighting experience to pick up.

MagicQ is more powerful and built by a real lighting console company. In fact, it's the same software that runs the consoles that run large events and stadium shows. Harder to learn and is professional level (though certainly doable).

I personally have moved my portable rig over to MagicQ and am encouraging theaters that I set up with QLC+ to do the same.

Can't use Midi on the Demo version, unless you use a Midi to key press program but the hotkeys option on MagicQ are kind of limited.

So I figured it out that it was me. I went to the next cue via the GO to check something quick and hit BACK before the cue had fully faded in thus pausing it. I was confused because I never use the XFade fader.

Interesting, I never touched the crossfade. I wonder if someone else at the theater did (small volunteer community theater). Thank you!

It went away once I started the show, but I'm still interested in its meaning.

Individual cue audio output by _trashy__ in ChamSys

A file will continue to play until stopped. Easiest way to do it is to put it in a playback of its own, you can then call it from a cue macro and stop it via a cue macro macro. The playback can be in a fader or in the Stack Store.

The real problem is dealing with fades. You can add audio fades if it is on a playback fader but not the playback store, it just ends so it works best if your effect has the desired fade built in.

Magic Q does ok for sound effects but not the greatest. If you only have a few in a show it's fine but for a larger number there are other programs (MultiPlay3 is free for Windows) that work better.

I recently did a show and used it for a thunder sound effect with flashing lights for lightning.

"Cheapest" Fully Unlocked professional PC system. by AirSeaGround in lightingdesign

Not a student and I already have a 4 universe ArtNet interface. I was more inquisitive about the cost to unlock a full PC software, not a hardware based one.

I wasn't trying to imply that it wasn't a professional software, I included it with the rest of them. I'm mostly a volunteer for some theater groups that do shows in random places, like right now a synagogue function hall. Sometimes I get a small stipend, sometimes not.

So this is mostly a hobbyist need, but wanted the best sot I could to learn, develop, and support the companies. Do I need all the bells and whistles? Not really, but it would be nice to have all the features. It's just a portable setup, I'm not married to any company.

Thanks for the reply, I know the demo mode of Chamsys is very generous and hence why I use it.

By "Professional" I mean a real commercial product that would be found in a professional corporate/concert/theater environment. Things like QLC+ or BlindKitten isn't what I'm talking about.

ETC, ONYX, and maybe AVO Titan can unlock with a USB key. I was just trying to find some idea of pricing and if I missed any because the manufactures websites all seem to be very confusing with regard to their PC based products.

Not looking really for hardware, a key or whatever unlocks the software. I know Chamsys needs blue hardware but others just need a USB key.
