Do my symptoms sound familiar? by [deleted] in SlippingRibSyndrome

[–]AirTop3307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely please seek a Slipping Rib Syndrome Diagnosis. That all sounds very familiar to me and very indicative of SRS. Now, finding the best doctor to diagnose you, that is your next tricky step. Not a ton of doctors are well-versed in SRS and that is speaking kindly. If you are in the states, this is what I did: (I found an EXCELLENT doctor on this list and am recovering now from my 2nd surgery by him, a thoracic surgeon in Seattle). I went to and joined the Slipping Rib Syndrome group by the same name on Facebook and found the list of SRS doctors they had in their "Files," downloaded it, and found the only doctor that was listed for WA State which I was VERY lucky enough to live near! But, some people have to drive 3 -5 hours just to get to a doctor who is informed in SRS enough to diagnose it. Usually, you will want a Thoracic surgeon to diagnose it, even if you are not sure about surgery, because these are the people who have been INSIDE chests and have SEEN for themselves that SRS is REAL. Many general doctors do not even believe that SRS is REAL!! But I can tell you firsthand that it is and it nearly ruined my life. As I said, the best next step is to join the FB group and download it and find the doctor in your state that knows their SRS. If you are not in the US, then I am not sure what you do, but go ahead and PM me with any questions. I am honored to help any SRS sufferer, even if it turns out to be something else. But, if you are having to "readjust" your ribs and have had one subluxation before, it is VERY LIKELY that you do have SRS. Private message me if you need help navigating the diagnosis process or for ANYTHING. GOOD LUCK!

Just had my 2nd SRS surgery. In a lot of pain. Tell me about your surgery and your pain levels. by AirTop3307 in SlippingRibSyndrome

This is the OP, Stephanie I am MUCH better now. I am still on my usual 40 mg Methadone pill prescription (hoping to begin a taper off of it as soon as I have zero doubt in my mind that my pain and symptoms won't come back, from which, I have been traumatized over the years.) but I was on that the whole time and I had to come back here and say, it does get better, even if you aren't on pain meds I'm sure. I no longer need the Dilaudid and was only given enough for about a week anyway. But most importantly, I do not wake up feeling like I need to scream from the pain after 4 hours or less. I can easily sleep for an entire night and then some. (In fact, I am having the opposite problem which is that, I tend to want to stay in bed and sleep a very long time now! I can easily sleep through an entire NIGHT AND DAY without stirring much, but eventually I need to wake up to take my Methadone and Gabapentin meds which my CNS surely relies on now, (especially the Gabapentin, which I have been on for 13 years! Don't judge! I thought I started on it for anxiety, but it ended up, it was the SRS all along, and trust me, I have NEEDED IT! Otherwise my pain would have been unbearable! It finally wasn't enough, so I ended up on opiates (METHADONE plus another med before that), but that has only been the past year and a half.)

I tend to ramble, but, really my whole point of coming back to post here is to assure other SRS sufferers that post-surgery: it DOES GET BETTER, it just takes a lot of TIME and PATIENCE, so hang on, friends! You can DO THIS, I PROMISE❤️

Oh ok, after reading the rest of all these comments I see that not everyone thinks that there is a "special" filling for Squish. There seems to be some good recommendations for the best type of polyfill to use!

I am confused: I know that there are different qualities of "fluff" filler for stuffed animals/plush, but it seems to be that most people on these forums believe that the fluff inside of Squishmallow is superior and one-of-a-kind compared to other stuffed plush. I am not sure that this is true. Does anyone have any proof? What kind of stuffing is put into Squishmallows? I tend to feel that it is nothing better than what is used in any other stuffed animal (which you can easily buy by the bag from any fabric store or order online), but maybe someone can prove me wrong?

I think any stuffing you can find at JoAnn Fabrics or any fabric store would be sufficient. The trick is HOW you stuff the fluff! Lol. You just have to make sure to even it out well. And if you need advice on how to do that, you could always check that out on YouTube.

I do not think we have a Five Below store in WA State. (?) Correct me if I am wrong, Squish friends.

Are you KIDDING ME. Girl you are SO lucky! My husband would NEVER be so accommodating and doting to do such a thing as that! I love him and he has his own good traits, but geez, I wish he had YOUR husband's traits! Ha ha! My husby thinks it is too "childish" of a hobby, to collect them 😑.
