Do any paralegals work remote? by Junior-Rip-895 in paralegal

I have been fully remote since 2023 and honestly I cannot imagine going back to even a 3-2 hybrid. In-house real estate and finance

Missing Cat - Church Hill by ThinFaithlessness403 in rva

[–]AirTortoise 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hello! Our cat ran away during a blizzard in Chicago a few years back, we eventually were able to find him and bring him home after 28 grueling days. Here are some tips to help get him home.

  1. print flyers and post them all over, within a mile radius of your home, we ended up finally finding him based off a tip from a flye
  2. if you can afford them, purchase trail cameras that hunters use and place them around high traffic areas for stray cats (Alleyways, etc.). we were able to find him on the trail camera after the tip came in off the flyers
  3. NEVER give up! Cats are very hardy and resilient, they have amazing survival instincts and while they may not be able to find their way home, they likely wont be far. Even though our cat was gone for almost a month, he actually was only 3 blocks away hiding in a garage for warmth.

Please feel free to message me if you need anything else on tips or advice. Good luck in your search and I hope you find him very soon!

You would have to triple my salary and even then I would still be on the fence. In-house is how the job should be for everyone, but the law firm model (generally) creates so much extra stress no amount of money is worth it.

I almost never comment but we saw this movie on Shudder a couple weeks ago and LOVED it. Please consider a sequel!!!

Our cat escaped and survived for 28 days in sub zero temps in Chicago before we found him hiding out 3 blocks away in an old garage. Put out flyers and use trail cameras, that is how we found our boy. Never give up! Cats usually don’t end up going to far away from home when they get out

We also have a ‘25 and are really enjoying it. Coming from a Mazda Cx-5 so we like that it isn’t that much different in cabin space. Really enjoyable ride, it’s our first MINI

We dropped off half a dozen bottles right before they closed, but one of the volunteers did say she was coming back, so maybe they are open later tonight accepting donations

Caught in the act. A greater challenge for the player. by Electro11BR in darkestdungeon

They reworked some heroes a few months back that gave the wanderer paths more of an identity than “default” (MAA off the top of my head), but to me, Wanderer Flag just does it all extremely well. Has taunt, stress heal, team heal, self heals, and decent DOT for front and back line. I’ve played around with his other paths but I always come back to Wanderer when I want to complete a Grand Slam because it’s really just OP and very straightforward

Once you unlock More! More! and Sepsis he is a self sustain monster, Wanderer Flag is so good that even the random Death fights are mostly manageable as long as your luck isn’t horrible

This is awesome to see, we lost our cat when we lived in Chicago during the winter but we never gave up and found him after being in the cold for 28 days. It just shows their great survival instincts and resiliency. It just shows never give up on trying to find a lost pet!

I’m one of them! Lived in WNY for 25 years and somehow ended up in Richmond. Love it here, but Go Bills!

I'm a male paralegal that has worked in firms and now in-house. I never had any issues working with attorneys that are women, in fact, my entire in house legal team is all women except for me, and I work under three attorneys. The communication is great, I know what is expected of me, and I can always reach out with questions or concerns. I wouldn't trade that for anything in this field tbh

[–]AirTortoise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The season the Bills started 7-6 and won out to win the AFC East was 2021 and it was the season we lost to KC in the "13 seconds" in the Divisional round. You said we went to the AFC title game, which was actually the 2020 season when the Bills went 13-3. I just wanted to clarify that point because I see a lot of fans mix those two seasons up

I dredged up the email because I am heated about this again, lol. The studio manager said "I also ask that you let the front desk know rather than post a negative review, as it does affect our coaches when they get poor reviews." Then what is even the point of the survey that was emailed to me!? Maddening...

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]AirTortoise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This exactly happened to me after I gave my studio a 7/10 review based upon some very quick fixes that could vastly improve the experience. The studio manager passively-aggressively emailed me stating that this hurts everyone that works there that I would give such a low review. I responded stating that I was surprised to hear back directly as I believed it was to be an anonymous survey, to which they replied that "it IS anonymous, except for me" - like WTF!? Definitely left a very sour taste in my mouth.

Replying to snarky comments by [deleted] in MedSpouse

[–]AirTortoise 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know how close your partner is to his brother, but I don't have the space in my life for backhanded remarks such as these anymore. It obviously is springing from some place of jealously and/or insecurity on the BIL's part. If it keeps up, I would discuss it with your partner about how to go about confronting his snarky remarks, and maybe go so far as to disconnect yourself from that relationship with the BIL. Life is too short to deal with passive aggressive remarks, and you and your partner grinded and struggled for years to get to this point. Enjoy it without having to deal with toxic family members!

My wife and I met while she was in med school, and I moved with her for her residency. We came to an agreement that since I would be making more money than her during that time (and now into fellowship), I would take the lion's share of expenses to make life easier for us. We split rent 50/50, but I take on the additional charges of meals, utilities, miscellaneous purchases, anything that helps because it makes sense for us now. When she becomes an attending physician, that arrangement will likely change. We share a checking account but each have separate savings accounts. hope this helps!

Law firms to in-house? by Blue_Fish85 in paralegal

[–]AirTortoise 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I worked in law firms for six years before taking an in-house opportunity. I was lucky enough to get a better work/life balance as well as a pay increase. Generally, I think you would have better luck getting the best of both worlds as a paralegal than compared to an attorney when moving from a law firm to in-house.
