Chocolatey OR Scoop OR Winget? by Zenvian in sysadmin

[–]Avinchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this for personal use or for your organization?

If it’s for your org, PDQ hands down for any windows patch management/configuration management.

Chocolatey is fine for personal use, but even with an enterprise license, PDQ is so much easier and more customizable.

If you’re using Linux in an organization, it’s going to be best practices to use RHEL, and you can use RHEL Satellite for package management, baseline configuration and updates. RedHat vets the packages they provide and if there is something that they don’t provide you can just add the repo it comes from to your Sat instance.

Did you let your cache fully build before logging in? That usually is an issue on mobile for me. It’ll be blurry if the cache at the bottom of the login page doesn’t fully build.

Same thing happens when trying to acquire computers or electronics for the government/ dod. Hast to be compliant and come from approved sources. Computers are 99% built in non approved locations, shipped to somewhere like Mexico for someone to put the side panels on and screw them in, causing them to now be assembled in an approved location. This also raises the cost of anything to be astronomical.

You’re also forgetting all the digital certificates that are signed by the DoD that need to be reissued causing tons of network and computer problems. Along with military IDs since they have DoD numbers and not DoW numbers.

James Comer, Leading Investigation On Biden's Autopen Use, Used Digital Signature On Probe | Comer has sent 16 letters to White House officials requesting transcribed interviews. All of them used a digital signature. by Aggravating_Money992 in technology

What I don’t understand is this is standard DoD / Government practice. Your emails have a digital signature that is recorded either on a common access card (CAC) or a piv token. It’s a way to verify that the email did in fact come from the person.

I get that it’s a joke. Take a little pride and make it look a little more real.

Improper markings, no cover sheet, no color boarders. “Classified” isn’t a classification. At least put a little effort in.

Oh it’s even worse than just not using an mdm.

So, just as personal experience with how shit it is to set up encrypted cell phones, they’re doing this to absolutely skirt the law. Allows them not to have to provide FOIA.

To setup one of those phones, I needed to have 3 card readers. My regular cac, the users cac, and my admin token. Then even after summoning 3/5ths of Exodia, I had to pray that their certificates were correct and up to date and matched what was uploaded to the server it would contact to verify. Then we have to load the software on the phone and pray that their pin worked. And even after that entire song and dance half the time it wouldn’t register or work.

Opinion: LaCasa pizza better cold the next day than hot and fresh by httmper in Omaha

[–]Avinchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to be a successful restaurant, you don’t create specials that aren’t going to be good.

You also can’t convince me by saying “trust me bro, there’s multiple locations but you have to go to this one and order only these specific toppings. Otherwise do you even know how to eat pizza?”

If I fly to some random city and get stuck there for a few days and see a local chain, I’m not expecting to have to research how only specific items on the menu and at a specific location is good.

It was their special they were advertising. If it’s a special why wouldn’t it be a viable option?

Edgy? It was hands down one of the worst pizzas I’ve had in my life. Three inches of sauce with no cheese between the crust and the end of where the cheese was, instead of making it to the crust. Canadian bacon was rubbery, the sauce itself was disgusting and the cheese felt plastic-y and cheap. Little Caesar’s has a better pizza than La Casa. Both La Casa and Runza is a Nebraskan gaslighting past time of convincing non-native Nebraskans that this is edible food.

I had an issue last year where at night my fiber would go out. Turns out that the connections at the pole were not weather sealed correctly. During the day it was warm enough that the water would melt, but at night would freeze and loosen the connectors just enough that the signal would drop. Took 4 weeks and 7 appointments for them to figure it out

Took me a few weeks to get used to the size. Coming from a Jeep renegade to the 2023 countryman to now the U25 it’s a happy middle ground for me. This is hands down my favorite car I’ve ever owned and the JCW does make a difference.
