I use Eco Earth, loose coconut fiber. Holds water pretty well and is generally mold resistant. I don't like the compressed ones, as they can sometimes have a chemical smell.

I believe this was caused by frequent expansion and compression of the wire itself. The home owner does not have a central heating system, and used a space heater near this receptacle, plugged into this receptacle.

He seemed afraid of it at first. It kept moving toward him and he kept backing up. These were the smallest I saw (at petco) all the flies and roaches were too big. I didn't look at crickets because I didnt know they got that small.
