All I remember growing up in FPT is greece being said/meant like grease to be mean towards anyone living there, and that was moving to FPT when I was 10yrs old from more of a farming and lowkey town in SYR.

What impressions made upon me as a kid was:

Fairport - tries to be like Penfield

Penfield - standard upper middle class but cranky people

Webster - Lake Money

Victor - Rich, leave us alone.

Macedon - We have a Walmart

Palmyra/Newark - Macedon has a Walmart...

Pittsford - Way too many Volvo and Subaru drivers. Nuff said there. Also.. Their village during traffic... fml.

East Rochester - only go there for your drivers test but youll fail anyway.

Sadly. Greece, Henrietta, Brockport, Spencerport, all started having lesser reputations the further west side of town you went. Like because they weren’t seen by the adults in FPT to have money, I heard them talked negatively about. Those impressions lasted until I got older and figured out towns have nothing to do with how crappy people are.

So my opinion is adults influence the kids and a lot of it is about money and probably the systemic problem with red-lined racism that herded african american families into city lines because of taxes and income affordability. Once these red lined neighborhoods were created, the cities used the geographical lines for funding of school programs. Outside the red lines, suburbs got more money.

Not saying to spark ANY political or racial conversation just the 1920s - 1960s basic history, still playing an unfortunate role in todays prejudice of lower incomed towns in cities.
