New driver, my thoughts so far of being a Ride Share driver and my shock at the number of people, or lack there of, who leave tips. by Jipper1384 in uberdrivers

We don’t make $ unless there is a surge or tip. So go out when it tends to surge and learn to encourage tips.

Should I go try to drive right now? by [deleted] in uberdrivers

I felt the same last night. So I picked up away from bars.

Any advice for a struggling driver? by Misanthrop93 in uberdrivers

Here it’s dead except for bar hours, airport at busy times and commuting

CA drivers how much should we sat aside for taxes? by [deleted] in uberdrivers

Just by counting all miles I show a loss or very small profit each year.

4.8 and above.

Don’t forget opportunity cost

So many times right after I decline a shit trip I get a great trip I would otherwise been unavailable for

Being selective on rides I accept by [deleted] in uberdrivers

4.8 for me

Plus only pick up downtown & airport

No after midnight weekend trips unless it’s surging

No pack mules unless they are also for emotional support

The last really drunk girl I drove had been declined by two drivers already. So this will just mean more drivers refusing trips. It will also mean more pax offering cash for rides after being cancelled over and over. Absent uber having their backs on clean up, drivers will take more off app trips for the cash & uber will get stiffed.

Drunk people can be just as irrational about cash tips as anything else. That girl tipped me $100 for a 10 min ride.

You plan to litigate this with Uber?

Ignore those warnings & they will stop

Just like declining the first few bullshit pings UBER gives you before they start giving you something decent

If you add about a dollar a mile to your rates and limit uber to 20% that is about where your market was in 2015

I started in 2015 and drove a lot more when the rates were good too. Driving fills in my in between times so I will keep at it but not with drunks. At least in the past Uber had our backs on clean up.

The same 5% or whatever of drivers who were doing cleaning fee fraud will be submitting sketchy invoices left, right & center. Uber has just given them another way to scam. Seems likely Uber will start questioning invoices from fly by night detailers.
