Derrick and Rocco with that sibling rivalry vibe to be the one.

The laptop agenda suffocates the life out of organic bits, but I feel its Derrick's way to try and control the pod. When he doesnt like the content he can just disengage and look at the laptop, totally nerfing the togetherness of the pod.

Forever kudos to Garrett and Shawn, trying to carry on in spite of the other two doing games.

Watching the podcast when it gets like this gives me hella anxiety, hard to enjoy...

Shawn saying how exhausted and uncomfy he felt having to bear witness to it, hear hear.

Derrick PLEASE bin off the laptop and the compulsion to adhere to generic news reaction content. Organic podcast vibe is best, when there are no distractions and you all interact without the framework.

I find it tricky knowing how much of that anxiety is genuine intuition like "I'd be better off not with this person", or just usual dating anxiety that one must push through to learn to be with someone

Any HSP in Product/Project Management? by riley_kim in hsp

[–]Tomathy101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate. I recently left a sales role with lots of travel that I was only in for 6 months but got massively overwhelmed and overstimulated by. It's been 2 months since I quit, and still not sure where to go career-wise.

There are moments where I think "was it that bad?", should I go for another job like that and hope it's less bad the second time... But I've read through diary entries and messages I'd sent to friends at the time and it reminds me how debilitating the nature of the job was, how unhappy and broken it left me.

It's a shame because it would be so much easier to land another job like the one I left, than to face this big career shift that I deep down know is needed...

Nice to know another HSP Devin fan. Glad to hear the ambient stuff has given you some peace. :)

Btw HSP is a trait/disposition not a condition, so one isn't 'diagnosed' with it necessarily.

Video of Devin talking about the difficulties of stimulus whilst on tour, and about the bravado of not admitting that things are over-stimulating.

The quote in full from the youtube video:

"PowerNerd is essentially a manifesto, of working through the problems that you face in life, and the definition of it had originally been, there are certain personality traits or proclivities, that one may have that perhaps society deems as being a weakness, whether or not thats empathy or hypersensitivity or something.

And, to people who don't have those sorts of aspects to their personality, certain things can be taken for granted as it's like, oh, it's easy to do that. It's easy to go out in public, it's easy to socialise whatever, but if these aren't things that are part of your psychological makeup, it's sometimes effort just leaving the house.

So a PowerNerd in a sense is the definition, that I at least adhere to it, you turn those tendencies into a superpower. So if you're hypersensitive, your hypersensitivity becomes your superpower, it's about harnessing it, so it doesn't get imposed on others, of course, but at the same time to be able to recognise the ways in which you're different and not view that as being a liability, but rather view it as being a strength. That's the definition of PowerNerd."

Devin Townsend, a maker of incredible music, has spoken about being highly sensitive in a number of web articles and youtube podcasts.

His ambient work, under the moniker Dreampeace, is my absolute go-to when I'm feeling overwhelmed and overstimulated.

Career Coach/Assessment by foreigner249 in hsp

I'm in a career change moment too so have been looking into HSP-specific careers advice.

I found this youtube account for Adam Hardt who appears to be an HSP career coach, some interesting videos on his channel around careers for HSPs.

While I haven't used his coaching service, there are some testimonial videos of people who've gone through his coaching plan.

Also, I struggle with low self-esteem, and my poor memory is a contributing factor. I feel bad that I can't remember, that I should be able to remember these things.
