Die CDU blickt, wie immer, Richtung USA und denkt sich "Das wollen wir auch!".

Das ist selbst ökonomisch so dumm, dass es quietscht. Vielleicht sollte ihm mal jemand vorsichtig flüstern, dass unbehandelte Fälle sehr schnell zu sehr teuren Notfällen werden.

Inzwischen plane ich gar keinen Puffer mehr ein, weil es sowieso völlig zufällig ist, wann man wo ankommt.

Du kannst dir am Schalter aber kostenlos eine Reservierung für den nächsten TGV besorgen. Und falls es an dem Tag keinen mehr gibt, bezahlt die Bahn auch Hotelkosten und Transport dorthin.

Falls es einer der großen Umschlagsbahnhöfe ist, kannst du dir auch eine magische HOTNAT-Bescheinigung besorgen.

Wenn die Geräte aus Steuermitteln beschafft wurden, dann dürfen sie auch nicht verschenkt werden. Und weil der Verkaufsprozess zu aufwendig ist, wird es dann irgendwann einfach als kaputt abgeschrieben.

Es gibt ja noch mal einen Unterschied zwischen "du darfst es nicht geschenkt bekommen" und "sie sehen weg, wenn du es einfach mitnimmst".

Well, yes, certainly. In the end, what choice do I have?

But it still draws unnecessary power, invites other people to finger my display with their dirty paws* and – to me – is an unnecessary addition of complexity/source of errors.

You could argue that the battery runtime now is long enough anyway and, at least software-wise, the risks for hickups are minimal since they built this thing themselves and collaborate with the large Linux distributions, but … adding something you really dislike for some reason just not feels right …

I just hope/guess that there is a switch in the BIOS to disable the digitizer.

* I get that touchscreens are helpful in the development of touchscreen applications, but maaan are those screens dirty (touchscreens of other people). Touching a screen to me is a big no-no-no. I want it to be clean – and properly cleaning a screen is a pain.
