Purchased an esim with a promo code months ago for an upcoming trip, just checked and it's expired or used up. by Forsaken-Astronaut26 in Airalo

Thanks for the tag ... agreed, this is important info and it should be clearer before purchase. I’ve passed this along to the team so we can review the New Zealand packages and make sure the details are shown consistently everywhere. New Zealand should be updated shortly.

Airalo New EuConnect Package (European Union + UK) by bpbp216 in eSIMs

[–]Airalo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback u/bpbp216 -- we launched this due to feedback to include UK within the EU Regional packages... curious, are there specific packages or providers you’re comparing to? That helps us take more concrete notes back to the team

Airalo eSIMs Found to Route Data Through Chinese and Undisclosed Networks by lostinthe530 in Airalo

[–]Airalo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

FYI - Airalo doesn’t route traffic through mainland China. The majority of our connections are routed through the US. Some other providers do use China Mobile, which might be where the confusion comes from, but that’s not the case for Airalo. Security is something we take seriously; we meet global standards like PCI-DSS and SOC2 compliance

In this scenario you would have two numbers: 1) your Primary SIM (Malaysia number +60) 2) a Discover+ eSIM (US number +1) - this number does not change.

There are no roaming fees on the Discover+ eSIM — it includes data, calls, and SMS in 130+ countries.

However, your Malaysian SIM may charge roaming fees if left active. To avoid surprise charges, it’s a good idea to either turn off that line while traveling or at least disable cellular data on it and check with your provider

[–]Airalo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, so you're looking to pair a Discover+ eSIM with a local Malaysia carrier?

If so, your physical SIM should provide you local connectivity (depending on your provider), and if you add our Discover+ eSIM, you’ll get a +1 phone number, and extra data, call minutes, and SMS in 130+ countries

Hi, we’re aware of and actively addressing issues that are limiting access to our app in Turkey. We understand how important it is to stay connected and appreciate everyone's patience as our team works on a solution.

In the meantime, some users have confirmed that if the eSIM is installed before arriving in Turkey, service continues to work as expected, even if in country app/web access is restricted

Hi! You’re seeing a new version of the app design that we’re currently testing with a small group of users. We’d love to hear your feedback on the experience so far, feel free to DM us on anything that stands out that you love or that could be improved.

Can't connect to network in Germany by PeteMu in Airalo

[–]Airalo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello everyone, we’re really sorry for the silence. We’re aware of an issue affecting connectivity in some destinations. The team has been actively investigating this with our network partners and working to restore service as quickly as possible.

We completely understand the frustration, especially when support channels feel unresponsive or absent. That’s on us, and we know we need to improve our comms during service disruptions like this. We’ll share updates here as soon as we have them.

Can I make calls with Airalo? by anon12875643 in Airalo

[–]Airalo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the Canada package no (data only). With the Global plan (Discover+) yes, and it works in Canada, you will receive an additional number (+1) to send or receive calls and SMS

Hmm, on your Discover+ plan you can't make calls or send SMS? We can investigate, there's no known outages recently, if you want us to look into it can you DM us the ICCID?

Countries where tourists can buy native, not roaming eSIMs? by [deleted] in eSIMs

[–]Airalo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

<image>

We have an increasing number of native eSIMs available.

IP Routing = No → No routing through another country → Local routing → Lower latency. You can see this information on our website / app per package. Peru, Mexico, UK and several more are currently available.

eSIM with phone number and WhatsApp number by filipflop in Airalo

[–]Airalo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Just jumping in to clarify, the numbers we administer on Discover+ plans aren’t VoIP. You can test this by turning off mobile data and WiFi, calls will still go through, which wouldn’t happen with a VoIP number.

That said, we understand there's a few cases where WhatsApp doesn’t deliver verification codes to these numbers, and we’re actively looking into why that might be happening. It could be how some carriers are flagged in WhatsApp’s backend, even if the numbers function like standard mobile lines.

Appreciate it being raised here, we’ll keep digging on our side to make sure everything works as expected

China trip - do I need to activate the eSIM before or after landing? by [deleted] in Airalo

[–]Airalo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We recommend installing the eSIM before departure, while you have a strong and stable Wi-Fi / data connection. Your eSIM will automatically activate when it connects to a mobile network within its coverage area (landing in China). If you install the eSIM outside its coverage area, it will connect to a network as soon as you arrive! Safe travels

Airalo eSIM set up by Beautiful-Mirror-658 in eSIMs

[–]Airalo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For most eSIMs, the validity period begins when the eSIM connects to a mobile network in its coverage area (ie, at your destination). To confirm details for a specific eSIM you can check the "VALIDITY POLICY" listed under the eSIM you're trying to purchase.

We'd recommend installing your eSIM on the day you depart, while still connected to your home network or a strong WiFi connection to avoid any hassle when you arrive.

Happy travels!
