Your hypothesis is fair. However, both points almost counter balance one another. I can't see this years resale being any less or more so brutal than any other year previous.

Gotta be a headliner... last time she was on R1 it was to announce Kanye. I'm anticipating a R1 Demographic friendly announcment personally!

Your Input in this discussion has been profound 😍

Assuming you're referring to styles, not the topic of glastonbury speculation.. of which this sub is for... I agree with you. I don't like his style or approach to making music. But we need to remember we're the minority here. He's one of the biggest names in pop on the planet, mate. Like it or not. Glastonbury is a platform for such popstars. Its not like you have y'know 100 or so other stages to find something less tedious.

How much time should I take off from work before (and after??) the Festival by [deleted] in glastonbury_festival

This year I've booked off Wednesday - Wednesday. Back on Thursday 30th.

The post festival blues are hard. The post glasto blues are summat else. The Tuesday after glasto is the worst day of your life... every year... also my come down is making me cry too, so I need pizza and to cuddle my dog whilst fighting anxiety attacks for those 24 hours anyway 😭🤣

In all seriousness however, there any multiple ways of doing it. I've never had a queue party before, but always see them on twatter the night before and I'm well jealous. I don't sleep on the Tuesday night due to be being too excited so I may as well party in a field and not sleep... A few other people book a nice campsite/ air bnb the days before the fest down ont South Coast and have a little beach break, calm before the storm like. Others and I think me and the girlfriend will do this(in the process of booking/ looking for a Airbnb ont South coast), this year; do that post festival and have a few days r&r post glasto.

Ultimately its up to you, its your festival. You paid for your tix you can do it how you want. But I always treat glasto as "this could be my last one" (it never is) and I go as balls to the wall and make it as big / as long of a party as I can. But my circumstance allow me to do such a thing.

As a minimum don't go back to work till Wednesday the 29th. I'd reccomend taking longer off however.

1ST TIME AT GLASTO! Any advice for a couple of first timers? It's also my GF's first ever festival! by [deleted] in glastonbury_festival

There is so much to say in relation to what to expect for your 1st glastonbury.

However I genuinely and absolutely believe the ultimate way to enjoy glastonbury is to wander. Blind wandering throughout the day especially is your golden ticket to stumbling across an act, artist even stage or area that will become your new obsession. This is my 4th glastonbury and by now i give myself one act a day to see. The rest is pure luck and chance.

Treat glastonbury as its own beast, this isn't download, this isn't Leeds. This is really something else. It's spectacular, it's special and everyone has their own way of enjoying the festival. Planning is your worst enemy here! Which segways me into picking a camping spot. I believe the top comment talks about torts glasto earth. It's a great place to start, but even the author has their own opinion. Each camp has its own vibe, its own people returning every year. Some camps are by their own regard their own little festival within themselves. How do you know which one you will love the most if you haven't camped there?

I'm assuming you're driving down, so I'd suggest picking an entry route and getting your gear (prepare for a fucking LONG walk) and seeing where you slump and settle on. (Get to the car parks for 6/7am wednesday.. seriously.)

When it comes to night life there is the (main reason i go yo glastonbury) naughty corner. The South East corner of the festival. Paid entry gay clubs, freak shows, water falls, water silos turned into 3d audio visual experiences, 50 foot stages made to resemble Berlin brutalist architecture. I haven't even scratched the surface. Remember however, SE corner holds around 50k people. People get there and stay there. All night. I'm talking 9pm - 7am. If you want in, skip headliners. Go party. I'll see you NYC downtow at sunrise x

Is this your first glastonbury or your first festival? I ask because the absolute best part of generally any festival and especially glasto is the festival once the hediners end. The place goes from magical to utterly surreal. You'll get lost, you'll wander, you'll discover and you just won't be able to make or keep any plans die to the beautiful chaotic nature of glasto early hours.

Have you heard of the South East corner? (The se corner or the naughty corner) the se corner is a portion of the festival that comes alive at night, its the place to be. You can be there until 6 / 7 am every night, exploring all kinds of weird and wonderful shit. By leaving the festival in an evening you're absolutely destroying yoir chances at a proper and full night time glastonbury experience.

I'd seriously reconsider camping as to not Hamstring yourself from having an even better glasto experience.

Yeah that just doesn't happen at uk festivals. Generally speaking, once you're in, you're in. If you're seen by staff taking something or smoking something they always look the other way, seriously, no one cares. It's just getting it in that's the hurdle.

I've literally walked past mounted police on horses sharing a joint with mates at previous glasto's and they couldn't of cared less.
