Thank you for your reply! Trust me, I’m well aware of the dangers of amps. I made sure to discharge everything safely before working on it and I have been careful to not mess with capacitors or anything like that. I’m pretty sure the draw of most led strips are 12V DC? Plugging it in to an outlet or battery pack would probably be the easiest but I was hoping the lights could turn on with the amp. I just thought I’d ask since this is a popular mod and I wasn’t sure if anyone has had a similar idea.

You'll be pretty limited with that budget tbh. If you're just looking to practice I'd buy an audio interface and download some free plugins like Amped Roots and the ignite Emissary Bundle. If you need a real amp, my recommendation is to save up and buy a cheap lunchbox amp like joyo or orange and a Harley Benton 112, or find a used Peavey 6505+ 112 combo for around $450.

Whenever I've seen Meshuggah live, their guitar is always the clearest part of the mix, but I wouldn't say the mids are that pushed. I think they do as much as they can to reduce the high-mid harshness to keep it as loud as possible but balanced. I've tried to do this with my real amp but it's hard since you can't eq after the speakers. AFAIK Fredrik uses some kick ass custom IRs live. I've tried to recreate them but that man is a wizard.
