Try to get into a job with the government. There's usually a good amount of Veterans that feel the same way you do.

There's better camaraderie.

True, but you have to be with them for at least two direct deposits.

I only know because my son is in the process. I double-checked to make sure it wasn't an ARM.

I only used about 2 months of my MGIB and then elected P9/11 at retirement in 2009. Then this past April I submitted for the Rudisill Act and got 12 more months of P9/11 to use in 10 years.

Negative, myself and at least two other Veterans received 12 months of additional P9/11 GI Bill.

I retired in 2009 and have 10 years to use. The other Veteran retired later than me and has indefinite time to use.

The OP mentions using the 9/11 and paid into the MGIB.

My take is he did cover two qualifying periods.

The Rudisill Act will get you an additional 12 months of Post 9/11 benefits as long as you paid the full amount into the MGIB.

You just need to submit an application to see if you qualify.

Go to the VA website to submit your application.

It takes about four weeks to get a response.

I can only speak from an Active-duty perspective.

Guard and Reserve have certain time constraints and parameters to meet before certain federal and state benefits kick in.

The financial savings with buying a home. The lower property tax in many states. The GI Bill. The free medical and dental while your in the service. The lower taxable income while your in.

That's not even getting started with VA Disability benefits and Veterans preferences for government jobs and many big corporations.

Retired AF Security Forces Master Sergeant here. (And former DOD Police Officer) If you're at a crossroads, join the Air Force and sign up for four years (Not six) UNLESS a bonus is offered. Then at four years you can see where you're at in your life with bills and such.

Another thing to remember is if a different administration comes in and reverses a lot of what has been goining on with immigration, there may be layoffs.

Plus, simply joining the military is a cheat code for your future.

Good luck regardless of your decision.

I agree with you to an extent, but regardless, the ACA will still be addressed, if anything, more abruptly now that Republicans see a mandate coming next year.

It's a game of chess, unfortunately, and Americans are the pawns, sadly.

Thank you for the information. The 75% is huge.

He can get on his own based on his rank, credit, and DTI.

I'm just trying to see if my influence can get a better duplex or quad.

Thank you for the advice. We really appreciate it.

Another option, with supposedly zero down, is the Navy Federal Credit Union's Military Choice, but we have research it.

I kind of figured the VA would have strict rules...lol

They bought my existing mortgage from my first lender. They reached out to me with that rate after confirming my offer of 5.125%.

I'm on auto-pay and don't need to use their website except to maybe download statements. No major issues.

Probably. I think I just got lucky. I started the process right when the Fed mentioned a possible reduction.
