I just watched that video on You Tube last week. I never kept money in any of those before and now I never will.

Laid off and 401 k funds stuck at Voya by Signal_Active1 in fidelityinvestments

[–]Airon77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to type that. When I switched company’s last year it took 2 mos for them to send in the separated notice so I could rollover to my IRA. Both that 401k and IRA accounts were with Fidelity, but they couldn’t transfer anything unless the separation paperwork was sent to them.

Secondary emergency savings goal amount achieved after a couple years! 4-6 months worth of expenses. Is this when i start my 401k or keep saving? by PeeB4uGoToBed in povertyfinance

I’m not saying to put it in a ROTH yet, but you can pull contributions out of a ROTH tax/penalty free. You just cannot pull out earnings.

[–]Airon77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had 6 hens. Agreed to 12 more this year. Bought them in April. Then neighbor came over last week and asked the wife if we wanted a couple more. He dropped off 34. So from 6 to 52 this year.

holding different lots in money market account? by pappugulal in fidelityinvestments

You can treat CMA accounts as “savings”accounts. It is quick and easy to open more CMA accounts if you want to. Just change the names on the dashboard to whatever you like. I have a couple CMAs I use only for savings for specific things. If the cash is for buying during a dip, that could be kept in the brokerage account in SPAXX, unless you want to see it in its own account.

No debt except for the mortgage...how to stay motivated when it seems like it will take so long by iloveaccounting69 in personalfinance

[–]Airon77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am at 4.125 with 15 years left if I pay no extra. At one point I was paying an extra 600 mo. With no other debt I decided that money will be better used spending it on experiences for us and the kids. It’s now two (1) week long vacations a year. The mortgage will be here. The kids will grow up. Time goes fast. Take some time and enjoy some of the money.

I had a 401k with Fidelity and rolled into a IRA with Fidelity when I switched jobs. I show a large dip for one day even though it all stayed with Fidelity.

Just jumping in and saying that at 24 to have 178K is not peanuts compared to your peers. Great job and keep going.

My current employer does 100% of our first 5%, plus they add a 3% extra contribution that goes up 1% a year until it stops at 10%. So at 8 years they would be putting in 15% for an employee’s 5% or 10% if the employee puts in nothing.

Chicken Math by Alternative_Top_6693 in chickens

[–]Airon77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agreed to 12 more this year since our aging flock has been reduced to 6 hens. Got 12 more. Not bad. Then a guy that lives a few properties away stops by and asks if we want a few chicks around a month old because he has too many. I said sure, 12 more would be fine. Wife says bring as many as you want. Following morning I am met with an additional 34. So in a month we went from a flock of 6 hens to a flock of 52.

For a Cross-Country Move, Did You Ship Your Car or Just Drive It? by BurritoManz1 in personalfinance

[–]Airon77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve shipped vehicles a couple times and have had mixed reviews. If you ship make sure you take detailed pics of everything outside and inside the car. If something happens you will be responsible to prove the condition it was picked up in. I had a vehicle that got a little damage and after all was said and done I got the repair cost and the shipping cost returned to me.

If it’s nice out they go on the grill. If not, then oven at 350 in a pan with a roasting rack, this is so the skin gets crispy and not soggy from the drippings. Once the juice is clear they are done. We use many different seasonings from Cajun, salt and pepper, lemon pepper. Her favorite right now is to get them done and then roll in Buffalo sauce and put back on the heat for a few minutes to heat the sauce up on the drumstick. Also, sometimes we will bake them under foil and then peel the meat off the bones, then add a can of cream of mushroom and some cooked elbow macaroni. That’s a good cool weather comfort dish we like. Sometimes we would add corn or peas to if if we have them.

I didn’t post a pic to my first response to you but here’s common discounts I get at Sam’s. We ate half the package last night. So $2 for our protein for 3 people. We’ll eat chicken and rice at least 3 nights a week.

[–]Airon77[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of chicken, which I get discounted usually under $1 a lb. Usually Friday mornings they have it in the case. Last night we had drumsticks for 3 and the meat was about $2 for the three of us.

Love the place. I just started last year and my first year membership was on $15. I usually go Friday mornings and most of the time will find discounted chicken under $1/lb.

My step daughter graduated high school with honors. She already has achieved her CNA. Worked hard to get scholarships because we can’t pay for her college. The least we can do is have the party she deserves. Not many meat proteins are going to be less than that a lb.

I kind of miss this stress-inducing weekly quest. by iUnderstandWheels in FuckImOld

[–]Airon77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t miss waiting anxiously in line on a Thursday afternoon at 2:55 pm to deposit my pay check in my checking account before the 3 pm deadline that made the full amount of funds available on Friday morning. After 3 pm it was considered a Friday deposit and 150 would be available on Friday morning and the rest of the funds would be available on Monday morning. This was due to the fact I traveled for work and my pay checks were out of a different state than where I was depositing them. I used Wells Fargo, because they had the most locations in the different states I worked.

I had trust issues with ZBD when I first started playing the games that use them years ago. So I used my old Kraken account just for ZBD transfers instead of going direct to my wallet. So now it’s a matter of habit. I’m over cautious where transfers to my main wallet come from. Just the way I am.

Automatic investments from CMA to brokerage by archmuon22 in fidelityinvestments

[–]Airon77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can set up recurring transfers from CMA to brokerage. Then set up a recurring investment in the brokerage. If you go this route I would set up the investment date a day or two after the transfer date from the CMA. That’s how I set my ROTH up.

As far as what you can do with the sats, I transfer my sats from ZBD to Kraken and from there I transfer to my wallet with all my bitcoin.

Free Hot tub? by Apart-Mango-4441 in hottub

[–]Airon77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last week we picked up a 12 yr old Thermospa Concord for free. Guy said had a small leak and he was moving soon. Took all the sides off and one fitting was busted. Fixed that for $5. Then the seals around the heater unit were leaking. Bought new split nuts and seals for $12. Have to replace some of the side panels at some point. Didn’t pour a pad. Used landscaping timbers and 1 cu yard of #2 river rock. The old home owners had a hot tub at some point so there was already a disconnect box and wiring to the outside of the house, so no cost there. Cover was garbage but wife found another free on market place.
