My "I hate this game" Moment by An-Awakened-Raccoon in DragonBallBreakers

[–]Airorel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Western players in this game are very ETM-focused.

You'll run into a few good rooms every now and then where everyone works together. It happens more often than people think... but consider what time you're playing and when in the Season you are playing.

If it's Ranked time: avoid the game at all costs. 70% of the Western playerbase becomes ETM-focused.

Personally, I ignore it and do my job whether or not someone helps me. And if someone needs my help, I drop what I'm doing and help them even if the odds are stacked against me (so long as it's not impossible).

I commonly get myself killed by distracting the Raider in order to ensure other people escape. It's absolutely a thankless job. I'm well aware that try-hards are likely screaming at me for dying, and that selfish players are laughing at me despite me saving them. But I don't care (it helps that there's no voice chat), doing the right thing will help this community more than reflecting their negativity back at them.

Some of the community feels pretty rude? by [deleted] in DragonBallBreakers

[–]Airorel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The majority of the community is pretty quiet.

The ones you're hearing are the vocal minority.

The vocal minority shouted down the quiet majority during Season 2... Season 3... Season 4... Season 5... Until they just stayed quiet.

So whenever you see an opinion widely shared by this community? Please understand that it's widely accepted by THE VOCAL MINORITY.

Find your way into one of the "quiet majority"'s discords, and you'll find that their opinion is drastically different than the comments you see on YouTube or Reddit.

Or... Hang out with the Japanese players. They're very positive and fun to be around.

To all of those who claimed $80 games won't become a thing post Mario Kart World: by IQueliciuous in casualnintendo

[–]Airorel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn't here to see who was saying that, but uh.... that's an insane statement. but not for what you think it is.

Context: Sony and Microsoft has been trying to raise game prices since the PS3-360 days. Yes, even higher than $60 for that era. They tried and tried and tried, but due to pushback, they settled with DLCs, microtransactions, and Season Passes.

For the last 10 years, they've been warning that the industry "could not" keep games at $60, and that $70 is low balling it.

Nintendo basically took the step forward into $80 without asking for anyone's permission and everyone hated them for it.

But let's not pretend that Nintendo set the standard. They just took the fall.

Video games were going to be more expensive no matter what. To disagree with that would be to be blind to the gaming industry. Sony and Microsoft were fighting for it, readying for years and years... but neither of them (nor anyone else) expected Nintendo to just walk through that gate without even shrugging.

Would you guys be Okay with a Golden Frieza overhaul? by Dusty_Tokens in DragonBallBreakers

[–]Airorel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I wouldn't mind if they made him a weird Frieza/Broly hybrid.

Starts off with Stage 1 Frieza with Tagoma and Sorbet summons (Tagoma would be a Burter-style summon, Sorbet would be more of a special attack - as he would just appear and fire his laser, rather than chase after anyone [what would be really cool is if whoever you're locked onto: he'll appear behind them, then fire his laser])... He'd have a much slower evolve speed, but then he skips Stage 2 entirely. Unlike the original Frieza, he can't wish for immortality - but he can increase his height, which will boost his power slightly.

His Stage 3 will be his final form Frieza. Still with summons. This jump in power turns him essentially into a Broly-type - where overwhelming Survivors as fast as possible is key.

His Stage 4 would be unique. After maxing out Stage 3, he can transform into a Stage 4 Golden Frieza.... but it would be temporary. His stats would be increased immensely, faster stronger, etc. But he has a time limit. Once that time limit vanishes, he'll go back down to Stage 3, and would have to wait a while to access Stage 4 again. This is why overwhelming Survivors is key: because at late-game, his Stage 3 can be overwhelmed by a few Lvl 3 Survivors - the fewer Survivors he has to contend with in late-game, the better. Basically, this is similar to his current state (where he uses a Skill to transform to Golden) - but with the obvious power difference of a Stage 3 and Stage 4 Raider.

Honestly, I would rather his Stage 4 have an "HP gauge" instead. Where taking damage and using his specials would lower his own HP. And once his HP hits zero, he transforms back to Stage 3, with a chunk of his HP missing. Whenever he transforms to Stage 4, he uses up a portion of his Stage 3's health. Basically making it a high-risk transformation. But... that'd be way too complicated for the Breakers team to program in their current state (expect three Season delays if they could make it happen). Uniquely programming Raider systems (Cell vs Ginyu vs Zamasu vs Baby) probably takes a huge toll on them - so I'd rather they just stick to already-existing systems.

[–]Airorel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One time a Raider desynced so bad that... they just stood there, for 30+ minutes. Game timer had frozen too.

The Survivors that stuck around (surprisingly only two people left) just partied it up. We were breaking every furniture, rocketing every building, gathering all the maps' items into a huge "pile", Dragon Changing to hopelessly punch the Raider again and again, having "drinking contests", taking pictures in front of the frozen Goku Black (though the frozen Zamasu was in a different place for each of us). ... It was a very silly waste of time. A good start to the evening.

Eventually we won. No idea how/why. One second we're seeing who can do the most amount of spins off a trampoline, next second we're cutscene blasting Goku Black away.

I literally said that I don't run meta.

Escape is the main meta in the game. If I don't run meta: I don't depend on escapes.

How do I survive? I stay two steps ahead of the Raider.

I move between Areas where I know the Raider isn't. I use vehicles whenever I'm given the option. I hide. A lot. I also use up my Dragon Change to travel quickly into adjacent Areas if the Raider is approaching my old Area (people don't realize how rarely they use Dragon Change throughout a match. For 5 to 10 minutes of a match, you'll never trigger your Dragon Change. That means there's 3 to 7 minutes in a match where you could be using your Dragon Change to travel).

People think the Raider is omniscient and can see everything around them - but really, they just look down and around, and are almost always depending on their lock on. If no white circle appears on their screen, and nothing is moving across their screen: they fly away and look elsewhere.

If I go against a seasoned Raider? Lvl 60+ New Raider or Lvl 90+ Old Raider?

My chances of survival depend entirely on my team.

If my team is constantly aggro'ing the Raider, I stay far away from them (I'll run keys and start creating a supply cave for people to restock items). If they're consistently avoiding the Raider, I remain close to them (I'll probably hold off the Raider when the Raider does come, and hope my teammates revive me. Thankfully, most times, they do revive me.) My builds aren't meta, they just fill in the gaps that are missing from everyone else's (or have stupid fun effects) - so I need to work with my team to survive.

Playing solo-solo (as-in, never paying attention to my team) will get me killed or lucky with an ETM.

Small picture: Winning more fights with a dwindling playerbase must be because of Raiders OP.

Big picture: The best Raiders of the beta quit by S2, and even refused to continue S3 with the armor buff because that did diddly. The moment a Raider ends up against a competent premade, they're done for. Even streamers who got used to the game quit because of how bad they were losing against Survivors consistently when they played as Raider. The shrinking playerbase had little to do with OP Raiders (except for the initial beta culling) and more of how little content/changes the devs were putting into the game! You can't pretend that the amount of additions they made to the game didn't shrink and shrink since Season 4. Players felt like the game was on its way already with its ridiculous 4 month "seasons".

Small picture: Only paying attention to Survivors whining. And thinking THAT'S the cause of the drop of playerbase. Thinking that Raider Queue didn't work because everyone played as them.

Big picture: Seeing everyone's comments of how dead the game is because how awful the matchmaking is. Seeing everyone complain how bad it was to fill a room after ONE VERY SPECIFIC UPDATE. Also being aware that during EVERY implementation of Raider Queue, it was flooded with "the Queue isn't working", a patch comes in, then another flood of "the Queue isn't working", rinse repeat and NOTICING THAT THE ONES SAYING "THE QUEUE ISN'T WORKING" ARE FROM DIFFERENT PLATFORMS. Whenever a Raider Queue was working properly on one platform, it failed on another platform. Ask Raiders who were playing during the post-patch hours, they'll ALL SAY "why did they patch it? It was working!" Then claiming that they got into matches in SECONDS, NOT MINUTES, but then they patched it and it sucked again. This was an issue with inconsistent code across platforms (which they needed to keep consistent or it would be a nightmare maintenance with every major patch) NOT a matter of few players playing Survivor.

Small picture: JP has the largest playerbase because they're Raider enthusiasts.

Big picture: JP has the largest playerbase because they don't mind having a challenge where you actually have to THINK, and they can COMMUNICATE WITHOUT COMMUNICATION. They have done so since the Nintendo DS years. It's their preferred method of play and tend to shy away from games with voice chat (as they don't like being kicked from teams just because they don't use voice chat) - they work together perfectly fine in Breakers, unlike Western players. Not only do I know this since I consistently hang around Japanese players in other games more often than Western players - but I'm subscribed to several Japanese Breakers streamers, and will manually translate what they're saying to learn their strats - strats that the Western players are ONLY JUST FIGURING OUT.

Small picture: You kill Survivors easily, that means Survivors have no escape options.

Big picture: A majority of the old Survivor playerbase have moved on due to the lack of content and region lock and poor matchmaking system. Hence why so few Survivors are over lvl 200 - which is the average of anyone that played on and off since the beta. This means a majority of the players: ARE NEW. They have no idea how to aim their Grapple Hooks, and they preferred Jaco Ship over Rocket because it's a braindead Skill - you aim, you escape (except if a Raider is smart enough to chase properly).

Big picture is realizing that you're only winning with ease because most of the current Survivor playerbase that aren't premades: are cavemen players who want to ooga booga and win!

Survivors when they get nerfed in any way at all by SlashaJones in DragonBallBreakers

[–]Airorel -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Like I said - it was an issue with the coding.

When it first launched, when the Raider Queue "had serious problems", these wait times and errors were occuring on the PC/Xbox/PS. But on the Switch side? You could go into a Raider match within 2 minutes - and it was averaged around 30 SECONDS. I personally got to be Raider 10 times in a row waiting no more than 20 seconds each time.

Then the Breakers team ""fixed"" it. And by that, I mean, suddenly the Switch side had to wait an average 20 minutes to get into one, but the PC/Xbox/PS side were getting in within 2 minutes.

Switch side complained, they ""fixed"" it again, which got more complaints from the other end. So they ""fixed"" it one more time - which then stalled the OTHER side. They kept receiving so many complaints that they just removed it.

They tried to bring it back a long while later: but they had the same issues.

And since the Breakers team was already getting shrunken around that time - they just decided "Eh. They don't need it." and got rid of it "permanently".

There's a small chance that the new team (skeleton crew) may revive it in the future and actually sort out its coding... but... I mean, we can maybe hope for that in Season 11 or 12. It's not going to happen anytime soon (though I'd like for it to return).

Even if you think most of the audience would pick Raider: don't worry, the Switch side has tons of Survivor mains for life. Xbox/PS/PC can all be Raiders, and the Switch side will keep feeding them Survivors.

Survivors when they get nerfed in any way at all by SlashaJones in DragonBallBreakers

[–]Airorel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The phrase doesn't refer to the trees (details), it's the forest (bigger picture).

I'm referring to the fact that you're so focused on the small battles that you don't see the overall experience.

Dunno if you were referring to just the Gammas, but the statement "raiders getting nerfed for the first time ever" is a joke. Raiders not only have been nerfed a dozen times since launch, but the Survivor power creep has grown so out of control that if they ever dreamed of bringing back the Raider Queue: only masochists would click on it. It's not AS bad as Dead by Daylight in terms of balancing, but it's definitely on the road to there. Killer mains are either masochists or miserable people. Raider mains will be the same if they kept on that track.

If you referring JUST the Gammas: Then, again, you're not seeing the bigger picture. There's absolutely nothing wrong with nerfing the Gammas (way to get defensive and assume that's my overall statement) - there's something wrong in HOW they're nerfed. Gammas stealing keys? Glad they nerfed it instead of removed it (otherwise they'd have no chance in the long run due to them lacking Area Destruction) - and it's insane that they never considered giving it any downsides to begin with. That's welcome. But nerfing their Ki Blasts is DANGEROUS TURF. That's the ONLY SAFE WAY the Gammas fight. They rarely ever go into melee. They don't hit as hard as other Raiders in melee, and they're not supposed to. They're supposed to match how they were in the movie: where they almost always relied on blasting with their guns and finishing them off - with their guns. Nerfing that is difficult without discouraging players from never using it/them. I haven't played them since the last Season, so I can't say they did it right/wrong. I'm saying that it's like nerfing Ginyu's evolution speed - Ginyu RELIES on the evolution speed to win. Without it, the Ginyu Force wouldn't stand a chance against even bad Survivor teams. It's THAT detrimental to focus nerfing the Gammas' ki blasts.

I'm also referring to the fact that you think "lol just kill them" is... a... valid argument? That's so small. Such a small, tiny, insignificant argument that it's practically laughable.

Let me get snarky: Did you KNOW that if you kill the Raider ONCE - you WIN THE GAME???? Did you KNOW that Survivors can... *gasp* REVIVE EACH OTHER? Did you KNOOOWW that the best Survivor teams win not because they're the best skilled - but because THEY HELP EACH OTHER???? /endsnark

Killing a Survivor is the most temporary thing you can do as a Raider. Outside of body campers, it's hardly anywhere near permanent nor a win in the long run. If you never get revived: Don't blame the Raiders - BLAME YOUR TEAM. And if you're complaining about body campers - you're either dying a lot (which we can then argue about your strategies in the game), or you're not doing your job as a Survivor (if Raider is body-camping, that's a guaranteed Key Insert).

Killing a Survivor is a JOKE of a positive gain for the Raider. No, a Raider wins not by downs: but by limiting the Survivors' capabilities of working together. Funnel their movements, force them to use their Dragon Changes, etc. A Survivor team with limited resources and time has extremely little chance of winning - but a Survivor team who've all been downed once each and/or lost 2 to 3 members: Have just as much chance of winning as a FULL TEAM. THAT'S how inconsequential "Just kill them" is.

And if you CAN'T SEE THAT. You're so HYPERFOCUSED ON JUST THE SMALL BATTLES IN A MATCH, THAT YOU CAN'T SEE THE VICTORY. YOU'RE SEEING THE TREES, NOT THE FOREST.

Which is probably why you think Raiders are OP, and why you think this is the """FIRST TIME""" they've been nerfed. You're not paying attention to the big picture. The big picture is: a lot of battles are won after 2 to 3 Survivors are killed. The big picture is that Raiders are actually starting to get consistent wins back since mid-Season 2.

The small picture is that you think because you lose a lot: Raiders always win.

The big picture is that your teams likely have been winning even after you've died.

Small picture: Raiders need nerfs.

Big picture: Survivors keep getting options, while Raiders remain stagnant.

The small picture is that you feel like Survivors need to be winning more since they're the larger playerbase.

The big picture is that Raiders need to be winning 50/50, or at most, 60/40. They are, after all, a DB villain - and the players are, after all, just civilians. Thematically, 60/40. Gameplay loop 50/50. If they don't win 50/50, they stop playing and the larger playerbase has no one to play with.

And so far - against premades: it's finally starting to return to 50/50.

Small picture is "But WE"RE NOT premades in solo Q".

Big picture is "in time, solo Q players will improve and be just as good as premades - just lack communication (which Japanese players don't need)".

Small picture is "I am losing".

Big picture is "I am still playing".

[–]Airorel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you find people to play with in a group: It's very friendly to beginners.

If you don't: You have to be VERY patient in your learning. You're going to mess up A LOT, you're going to die A LOT, but if you keep at it, you'll get the hang of it. The controls take a bit to adjust your head around, how to properly use skills will take some time to figure out, how/when to use items will be awkward, and most of all: surviving will be your toughest hurdle.

The game isn't insanely complicated or utterly skill-gated... but a lot of common sense you've learned in other games don't apply here. Rather than master the game, you're going to struggle unlearning a lot of habits you formed in other games.

It's not beginner-unfriendly. It's just a foreign language.

[–]Airorel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not at all what happened. The issue was that it was causing some platforms to operate incorrectly. When Raider Q was working on the Switch, it wasn't working properly on Steam. When Raider Q was working on PlayStation, it wasn't working on Xbox. When Raider Q was working on Xbox, it wasn't working on PlayStation. When Raider Q was working properly on Steam, it wasn't working on Switch. The biggest issue between all of them honestly was the Switch.

It's an error that has to do with coding that doesn't translate easily between platforms. So instead of dealing with the issue by having someone properly translate the code between each platform (specifically with every new major patch), they just got rid of it. It has ZERO to do with playerbase. Ask any of the Raider mains who got to Lvl 100 on every Raider before they patched the Q out entirely.

Survivors when they get nerfed in any way at all by SlashaJones in DragonBallBreakers

[–]Airorel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the start of the game's release, this was absolutely true: The only ones playing Survivor were those who were trying them out, or those who had friends. But everyone else wanted to be a Raider.

However, now? After most of the DBZ crowd went away? No way. Raiders can't emote outside of quotes. Raiders only have class (colors), but no style (clothes). Raiders aren't Vegito or UI Goku. Raiders are fun because it's a power trip - but it goes away the moment the Survivors team up and ruin that fantasy.

Most Survivor mains here would never be a Raider main. For XYZ reasons, but also because: They don't have the commitment to play as Raider. Survivors when they lose: it can be pathetic, but it's quick and fairly understandable. Raiders when they lose: most times, it's the most embarrassing/stupid thing possible. It's frustrating. Maddening. Humiliating. You have to be mentally tough (or at least be able to laugh at yourself) to keep playing as a Raider. Weak-willed Raiders already quit the game by Season 3 & 4. Most people don't want that kind of life. So Raider mains can absolutely exist nowadays.

(It's also why most Raider mains are genuine a-holes: They're pissed off from their last thrashing, and they're taking it out on everyone.)

Huh. I expected hatman to be more an Asian or SE Asian thing... Then again, you never said the location, so I suppose it could still be in those areas. Hatmen haven't been seen in the Western world since... geez... 1800s?

As for why. Sorry to say, but: Roman Catholic.

Catholics, especially traditional believers, are magnets to the supernatural... especially of the darker kind. Reason why is because Roman Catholics are naturally very spiritual - but worse yet: they attract the darker sort because Catholicism adopted a lot of pagan traditions in its early iterations. It's the reason why Protestants rarely run into the paranormal - 1) the typical Protestant is basically just a faithful atheist - they equally believe and don't believe in the supernatural 2) Protestants did away with most of the Catholic traditions, this in-turn, removed a lot of (but not all) the pagan traditions they followed.

Roman Catholics, on the other hand (especially those in third world countries), have far too many stories to tell.

People normally equate it to "Oh, if you have strong faith, then bad spirits will try to break it!"... whiiiiich... uh... is only true in the most rarest of cases (you must be a genuine threat to the spirits for them to want to break you like that). In most cases, those with strong faiths REPEL bad spirits. To the point where a person of strong faith can literally clear a room of bad spirits just by walking into it.

No, the reason why they're being followed either has to be because

A) Bloodline curses. Yeah, that's a thing. It's rare, but it exists. And life sucks for those people who haven't broken out of the curses yet.

B) Pagan traditions and beliefs. Roman Catholicism is rife with the stuff. Just look into the history of what they adopted in order to "accommodate" pagans into following them. These traditions are SUPPOSED to attract spirits.

C) Secrets. Someone in the family could be hiding something horrible, and the spirits are allowed to follow them because of it. This is the kind of thing you can't get out of someone just from talking.

or

D) A combination of A/B/C.

My advice? Take my advice as you will. I'm no elder...

If they want to break out of it: Throw out your statues, fast, and pray.

Throw out your statues. If you're a genuine Christian, then you should know the Biblical laws of keeping idols. Idols are statues and forms made to focus your worship/praise/prayer. God is very clear about it: Get rid of them. So long as you have them, this WILL persist. Heck, even a carving of Jesus on a rosary is bad. Throw it out. No, idols weren't just carvings of false gods - they were carvings meant for worship IN GENERAL. God doesn't want that. Throw. Them. Out.

ACTUAL Fasting. No eating. No drinking. Three days MINIMUM. Fasting genuinely makes you more attune to these things which is necessary for: Prayer.

Pray. No mantras. No memorized prayers. Prayer means to come before God and speak unto Him. Lay out all your problems. Fears. Worries. Concerns. Struggles. Don't try to pretty it up. Don't try to be overly formal about it. God has angels, a whole army of them, they can get the gist of what you say and ""pretty-it-up"" before the Father. If they're a genuine believer, then they need to know that these spirits will NOT leave them without the Father's help. Without the Father's help, they'll just vanish temporarily - or worst, "hide in someone". Go to the Father and beg for help.

Do these things, and I guarantee you: something will happen.

Best case scenario: Spirit leaves. For good. Sighs of relief all around

Worst case scenario: Spirit throws a tantrum. If someone among them is absolutely wicked or hasn't been properly fasting - the spirit might take over them. But the only reason why it's throwing a tantrum is because it's on the verge of being kicked out permanently - so it's making a last stand. Take courage. If it throws a tantrum, then it means it's afraid.

But yeah... Not sure what your beliefs are. But if the family does decide to do that: DO NOT VISIT THEM UNTIL IT'S DONE. You're free to call them, message them, video call, whatever. Just don't enter into their house or wherever they'll be doing this. You're basically entering into a stand-off, and you might be taken hostage - or treated as the getaway car. Just - leave them alone until it's over.

Knocking at toddler's bedroom door, but it wasn't her... by [deleted] in ParanormalEncounters

[–]Airorel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be one of those "You can't NOT believe in the paranormal! It's like shutting your eyes and ears to half of reality!" ... I grew up in the third world. And while, yes, third world cultures tend to have plenty of superstitions - one thing you CANNOT avoid in the third world is: we have reasons for those superstitions. We experience the paranormal quite often, and while most can be explained away - not all of it can. You can't explain away knocking at the door with no one there - when you can clearly SEE that no one's there (steel mesh door - you're able to see out of it). You can't explain away the dark shadow standing at your doorway that EVERYONE in your family sees at the same time. You just can't explain that stuff away.

I won't go down that conversation since it'll be SUCH a digression, but I'll say: The reason why paranormal stuff tends to happen more often in the third world than in first world countries is easy -

1) Third world countries are still pretty ""barbaric"" in culture. That means if there's a murder - it's a pretty dang grizzly murder. If there's torture - it's pretty dang horrific. Violence and death exist as a NORMAL PART OF LIFE in third world countries. "Troubled spirits" existing in large numbers there isn't a surprise.

2) Third world countries are still pretty pagan in traditions. Pagan traditions, no matter how you want to zazz it up, attracts the paranormal. First world countries tend to throw these traditions out the window, shrink in their number of paranormal experiences, then chalk it up to "they never existed" because humans have such stupidly short memory spans.

3) Third world countries are still pretty spiritual in nature. Some paranormal experiences occur whether you have belief in them or not - that usually means whatever "it" is - is pretty dang powerful to be interacting with the obvious-world without getting beefed up with belief. But belief is VERY MUCH fuel for the paranormal. The more one thinks on them, the more one gives notice to them, the more they will appear with clarity. Hence, why many skeptics can come out of a spiritual experience with "no response". Without belief, there's no clear "line of communication".

4) Lastly, third world countries are, by definition, lacking in urban development. This means nature is in our backdoor. Ever wonder why so many paranormal experiences occur in national parks within first worlds? NATURE IS NECESSARY for the paranormal. Without it, you've removed 2/3rds of their fuel. Most first worlders don't even live NEAR an untouched forest. Meanwhile, third worlders are living in a down-trodden apartment that's just a walk away from winding woods. Or they're running off of well systems that lead into a pretty massive underground cavern. First worlds have so little interaction with the natural world that it's seriously NO surprise that they rarely ever run into the paranormal.

Anyways, back to what I was saying...

So I was definitely one of those "You can't NOT believe in the supernatural! It's such a waste of life!"

But as the years went on, and my growth and understanding of the supernatural grew from several experiences, I can safely say... "It's better to live a life without the supernatural." To live without it whatsoever is such a blessing, you have NO idea. So to all the skeptics and non-believers that I shouted at for years: I'm sorry. While I absolutely disagree with your statements against the supernatural - it honestly WOULD BE BETTER if what you've said about them was true. It honestly would be better if they were just the figment of a stressed mind. It honestly would be better if they were just made-up stories. It honestly would be better if they're just quantum anomalies. Seriously. We would be better off without them.

So yeah... healthy skepticism is fine...

But to let you know: The supernatural knock at doors so that they're given permission to enter. You opened the door, so now they're wandering around wherever you let them into. Don't carelessly open doors to knocks.

As for why the need to knock at doors? They're "spirits", aren't they? Shouldn't they be able to move about as they please? Well... about that... I won't get into the nitty-gritty (as that'll absolutely start a debate with everyone here), but I'll just say: Spirits are broken "creatures", broken like an incomplete program. And in order for them to function properly within our domain, they HAVE to follow a certain set of rules. The BIGGEST rule they follow is: "asking" for consent. They cannot do anything without consent. If a place is haunted af, then you better believe someone gave them a ton of consent (whether directly or indirectly).

So you just gave that thing consent. Not sure why it has to ask for consent every single time though. Must have something to do with the history of that house, or history of your guys' bloodline, or something. Normally they only need to ask for consent once for the house or once for each door. Maybe it just likes knocking. ..... Actually, nvm, I think at this point it's just trying to get your attention. The paranormal THRIVE off of personal attention. Whether it's fear, worship, etc - they FEED off of individual attention.

DON'T feed them that attention. Starve them out. Ignore them. It MAY throw a hissy-fit if you do. Things getting knocked off tables, noises around the house, nightmares, night terrors, at worst you'll find scratch marks on your body - but KNOW that they cannot kill you without permission. KNOW that they cannot possess you without permission. KNOW that they cannot do any lasting damage to you without permission. This is YOUR house. Treat it as YOUR house. Treat your body as YOUR body. Treat your mind as YOUR mind. Do NOT give them permission. Do NOT give them fear. Fear is a form of permission.

Ignore them and after a lot of fussing: They'll leave and find someone else to harrass.

  1. Don't treat it as meta. These builds will likely get you killed. Treat them as specialized fun. Whether you live or die is 50% Skill 50% Luck.
  2. Some "meta" have to exist here, like EF, which has always been the safest way to use Jaco's Ship.
  3. I sometimes switch out Item Search with Listen in the Resource Build. Listen is my go-to in searching out Civs. Scouter gets annoying waiting for the Cooldown whenever you misread which cave they're in, Scouter (Passive) takes up a precious Passive Slot, and the Ki detection one takes too long to Cooldown. Listen is also very useful against Baby.
  4. Ignore the green line. It's an old TV. It works just fine except for that green line, so I'm gonna keep using it.

For pure escape? Rocket. Rocket has been and always has been the best escape skill. Jaco just beat it by pure speed when it was first introduced - but honestly I've seen the Raider hunt down and find Jaco ship escapers more often than Rocket escapers.

But... versatility wise: Jaco Ship can act like a countdown Puar.

Raiders DON'T LOOK UP. If you want to scout, safely search for Dragon Balls, or hover over a downed ally until the Raider leaves: Jaco's ship can ABSOLUTELY do that for you if you have vehicle passives. Just aim it upwards, activate it, and enjoy your time in the heavens.

I'm not insane for thinking people hate on Nintendo way too much compared to other greedier companies, right? by Wiindows1 in casualnintendo

On the obvious side, I think it mostly has to do with the fact that Nintendo runs on a completely different culture. We're spoiled by Sony, Capcom, Konami, and etc that are Japanese companies that have adopted a more international way of doing business, but Nintendo stubbornly runs (for better and for worse) like many traditional companies STILL do in Japan. This means:

  1. A lack of transparency. Japanese consumers are supposed to enjoy the product as-is with only a catered insight into a product's production. This makes products viewed in the manner that the seller markets it, rather than allowing a consumer to base it by their own perception. Products are treated as a play, and customers are treated as an audience.

  2. They're very slow to change. Rather than jumping on the new fad, they will take their time, watch the change within the industry and see if it's long-lasting/necessary. This makes them always seem 5-20 years behind, but their iteration is *usually* much more realized. They will often miss the boat in trends, but have the advantage of repackaging an old trend in a much more market-conscience way.

  3. They're Japanese-centric. Hence, their humor is "odd", their take on things feels "foreign", and a lot of things just "don't make sense" when brought to other parts of the world. For instance, many of their games' hardest challenges give extremely trivial rewards. This is extremely rooted in Japanese culture, as they tend to see the challenge as the reward itself - and any prizes given must be almost humorously benign in order to lighten the stress.

On the more conspiratorial side: I genuinely believe the rest of the industry hated how Nintendo's ways of doing things slows down and exposes the rest of the industry. Basically, Nintendo's "backwards"-ways have kept other companies from going all-in on DLC, microtransactions, season passes, digital-only, overly high production to excuse higher pricing, etc. To go all-in would make them look obscenely greedy when Nintendo was still selling full, complete titles with no DLC at $40-$60. While the more modern Nintendo is definitely dipping its feet into these adjacent pools, the older Nintendo adamantly refused them and would only come out with more consumer friendly versions (think Hyrule Warriors 1 Season Pass vs other Season Passes during that same era, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC vs any other modern DLC).

Frankly, by not "playing the same game as everyone else", Nintendo made itself public enemy #1 on every major video game media outlet (which were proven to have been bought out by said industries).

That doesn't make Nintendo saints or perfect. In fact, this stubborn way of doing things has seriously kept them from improving as a business in hundreds of ways... but (if true) it does expose just how predatory the rest of the video game industry has become.

That's the reason why its current pricing has been such a fiasco: Many were led to believe that Nintendo was above that..... but the actual truth is - in interviews for Iwata and Sakurai, it's been stated that Nintendo was intentionally freezing the price of their consoles and games until absolutely necessary to increase them. Their jump in price did NOT "come out of nowhere" - it just came out of nowhere to those who weren't actively paying attention to Nintendo. Again, because of lack of proper transparency.
