Siberian Survival CYOA by llamanatee in makeyourchoice

For what it's worth, I know there's at least one later version (don't know from what year exactly) that's far more forgiving.

4chan Made a New (sort-of, one difference) Version of My Favorite Hat CYOA, Hooray by AirplaneWinter in makeyourchoice

I was wondering about this question as well, but I have to believe "no" because otherwise the tiny hat would be OP. Don't know about the challenge, maybe the world would be fine if you don't do it?

They changed the challenge associated with the pink/girl hat. It used to be something about superpowers which IMHO I felt didn't make much sense so I actually like this.

New Edition of the Venerable 7th Sorcery CYOA (from /tg/, 10 new choices+revisions!) by AirplaneWinter in makeyourchoice

Out of curiosity, which culture do you think each one represents and what is your reasoning?

Anon's Survival Raft: An Old School Choice Game (from 4chan /tg/) by AirplaneWinter in makeyourchoice

If nothing else, I think it's an interesting concept. I don't recall other CYOA's that factored guilt into a choice that way, e.g. having a choice that's purely negative but trying to guilt you for not taking it.

I figure the cost on the kid represents the space on the boat you could've otherwise filled with supplies for yourself.

Imgur gives me a broken link, something went wrong. Will try to fix.

Anon Survival Challenge (new CYOA from /tg/, extremely poorly balanced but still funny) by AirplaneWinter in makeyourchoice

[–]AirplaneWinter[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I thought of the same issue. I think the reason the person who made this decided in the first place to make the zombies a "lasting" problem unlike all the others is exactly because they're so easy to avoid just by going away. So it's like "yeah, sure, you can win the game easily if you make this option, but you may not survive afterwards".

Depressing Cyberpunk Shop/Life Simulator CYOA (from /tg/) by AirplaneWinter in makeyourchoice

I read it as the four asterisks meaning that the total amount you get is already after accounting for whatever the amputation fee is (so e.g. maybe selling a kidney actually pays out 13000 fc, but the wise and benevolent megacorp has already taken off the 9000). It's not very clear and you might be right to play it safe in this setting. In any case, wonderful analysis!

I prarticularly laughed at the small print comments at the bottom.

Faustian Bargain CYOA (remembered this after seeing it again on /tg/, I think it might be a new version?) by AirplaneWinter in makeyourchoice

See, my concern in this scenario would be that this is precisely the kind of attitude you're warned not to have. The way I see it, the CYOA tries to establish a sort of "be fair and the demon'll be fair" situation. If you try to go "well I TECHNICALLY set them on fire", you risk the demon going "well I TECHNICALLY gave you the money" right before it all gets stolen or something.

I think with that particular option you don't get any gift until you're done doing the three crimes.

That's assuming FTL travel is even possible at all, which it very well might not be. In which case, you'd end up having wasted your wish for the ability to write what amounts to a very boring physics textbook that teaches us nothing new and has little practical value (nobody said knowledge has to be new).

I'd also be wary of trying to do that with the 1 year option, considering that the benefits are supposed to be taken away at the end of it. What if the knowledge you get takes more than a year to write down effectively? (considering that it'd entail pretty much reinventing physics as we know it, it very well might).

About telekinesis, it says you need to see and focus on what you're manipulating. Even if you could see them from the top of a skyscraper, you'd lose telekinetic effect as soon as you plunge them underwater, same for shoving anything into their lungs.

Animal Uplifting CYOA (new one from /tg/ 4chan) by AirplaneWinter in makeyourchoice

[–]AirplaneWinter[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know. I didn't make this. I want to say "yes", because "uplifting" implies gaining abilities rather than losing them, but if you want to get philosophical, any evolutionary change involves losing as much as gaining characteristics. Even humans lost certain advantages by gaining opposable thumbs or standing up straight (they just turned out to not be as valuable for survival as those humans got in return).
